the most perfect song of all time for me is everybody wants to rule the world by tears for fears and i think the world should listen to it with intent to absorb it, and it will swallow you whole. its gorgeous.
@@hpx374 Literally all of it. People say this song has some deep lyrical meaning, but in reality it just reflects the bland songwriting and composition of most pop music in the 80s. The context that makes Purple Rain a perfect song to me is the fact most of it (and the soundtrack for the movie) was recorded at a benefit for a ballet company after said ballet company performed the Sleeping Beauty pas de deux which to me feels like the perfect context for that song to come into existence.
After the bit about him killing the cat while listening to purple rain, I got an ad of a bunch of cats dancing for a cat food commercial and the timing of it actually made me laugh at the ad🥸💀

@@GriffinK10 I kind of disagree, but I can see where you’re coming from with the individual songs on FTFT being stronger on their own than the ones on Ants. For The First Time has some of my favorite BCNR tracks, sunglasses being my all time favorite (though I prefer the single version over the LP version), but I think the project over all feels a little incomplete. I really wish they would have included Kendal Jenner and Algorithm as part of the track list on FTFT. I think that would have filled out the project a lot more for me. There are definitely moments on FTFT that outshine moments on Ants, but I think as a whole project ants is a better and more fully realized album. I’ve also found that Opus in particular is a song I come back to less and less. I still think it’s a good track but to say that Opus is better than Basketball Shoes or Concorde is a little goofy imo.

Some perfect songs for me: Glass Animals - Agnes: massive emotional pay-off to what is handily the band’s best album. Conveys really beautifully the sadness of failing to save someone you love from themselves. Daft Punk - Touch: one of the most beautiful songs ever produced imo. The multiple switches between joyous and ominous give me the feeling of the ups and downs of a relationship over long spans of time. Plus the sentiment of how integral to our lives the sensation of touch is makes me smile. Kendrick Lamar - Mother I Sober: the emotional climax of one of my favorite Kendrick albums. Does an amazing job of condensing down all the massive societal ills that he attacks on this project and views them through the lens of his own experiences. It’s an extremely vulnerable and triumphant song that I just can’t get enough of
There can only be one perfect song. That song is called Moss Garden. A lot of songs are incredibly close but never truly perfect when Moss Garden has set the standard.

The Breakup Song by Greg Kihn. Live at the Country Club 1981. Perfect pop song. Best version I've ever heard.
I think that one super underrated one is da art of storytelling part 1. Genuinley one of the best songs ever written
Jus thinking about i know the end just made me start tearing up my god that song is incredible

My top 3:
SAMIDOT - Kendrick Lamar
Mayonaise - Smashing Pumpkins
Jigsaw Falling Into Place - Radiohead
The context that makes Purple Rain a perfect song to me is the fact most of it (and the soundtrack for the movie) was recorded at a benefit for a ballet company after said ballet company performed the Sleeping Beauty pas de deux which to me feels like the perfect context for that song to come into existence.
After the bit about him killing the cat while listening to purple rain, I got an ad of a bunch of cats dancing for a cat food commercial and the timing of it actually made me laugh at the ad🥸💀
“it’s gonna be hard for an nine minute song to be perfect”
Dogs by Pink Floyd: “what am i even here for
Close to the Edge by Yes: “i know right”
Was not expecting Graydon to say that about Supertramp. As a Supertramp fan I feel very vindicated
I had never listened to supertramp before but 28:07 is EXACTLY 1-1 how I felt after listening to goodbye stranger, I really couldnt have put it better myself

i went to punxsutawney PA for groundhog day one year and they had someone doing a groundhog-themed cover of Purple Rain so riley would’ve had a bad time
So happy the season / carry me is getting the praise it deserves. It and wesleys theory my two favorite songs of all time
You could tell by my pfp but Florence+ The machine-Mother..a nearly 6 minute song i can replay over and over and not get bored. Goes by quickly, one more can be lorde-sober ( both parts)
Mother is so good!!!
at 20:55 riley says 'i shouldve been texting' KILLS THIS IS AN ALL TIMER
I actually knew one of the songs in this one! Progress!
Sure it was Chop Suey but it still counts
Concorde by Black Country, New Road is a perfect song.
Every song off the For the first time is better than every song off that record
I still think it’s a good track but to say that Opus is better than Basketball Shoes or Concorde is a little goofy imo.
i cant personally consider any of their songs perfect because i find their vocalist(s?) unbearable
@@brandonkey181 L take.

Some perfect songs for me:
Glass Animals - Agnes: massive emotional pay-off to what is handily the band’s best album.
It’s an extremely vulnerable and triumphant song that I just can’t get enough of
mother i sober is so underrated
Not Glass Animals

There can only be one perfect song. That song is called Moss Garden. A lot of songs are incredibly close but never truly perfect when Moss Garden has set the standard.
The only songs i would really consider perfect would be -isnt she lovely stevie wonder - blood promise(swans are dead version) swans and -the glow pt 2 the microphones
My favorite song is the sweet sweet sound of canaries falling in love in the springtime
Billy Joel has one perfect song. The Longest Time.
Man drops some cold bars on that joint. The internal rhymes on lines like “hearing in the hall/miracle of all” and “want you so bad/out to know that” are truly based
My favorite song of all time and a song that I think is perfect is farewell transmission by songs: Ohia which hits me so hard every time I listen to it rip Jason Molina
