    Lolol, like i mentioned on one of your vids in the past is that i live for twists. I keep them.in and retwist when needed. Then i take them out giving my hair a break for a couple of days and then put the twist back in again. I have retained so much length due to this :) Plus your videos are awesome and helpful!

      Naturally High Great video! How often do wash your hair?

  • @NaturallyLatrice
    @NaturallyLatrice 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I have my hair in twists as well. I'm doing mine for 6 months to help with length retention. I wash and deep condition weekly and retwist once a month. I really like both styles. One thing I've always liked about your channel is the scientific poised approach to your videos but I do like this unscripted style as well. I'd say for videos where you are giving us plenty of info scripted is good but for vids like this where it's a quick how to then unscripted is nice.

    Just an update. I started my loose twist journey on 7/29 and what a difference. I'm sewing great length retention and my hair retains moisture so much better. Your videos are clutch for me. I often go back and re-watch. Hope your summer was great.

    I love this video! I've watched it like 3 times already! I think I prefer unscripted videos. They sound more relaxed and fun. I also love this method and I'm going to try it this weekend onward. I hope it works as well for me as it has for you!

    "Unscripted Video" I love when you all are chatty, it makes me feel better about my longer commenting style lol!
    Hello Asha :D Oh I just love your high buns...buns in general are my absolute favorite style! I'm used to tight twists but I tried loose twists a couple years and surprisingly I did like them, fullness was great but I have to do it your way the next time around because I don't think I focused on making my roots tighter than the length of the twists. Lol that steamer is very cool, I would have never guessed it's for clothes. Great video, Fabulous hair, thanks for sharing and have an Awesome week : )

    • @NaturallyHigh
      @NaturallyHigh  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aw thank you Kerducky! Your chatty comments are a real treasure :)
      That's good to hear because it's effortless!
      Yes, I'm sure you'll find 'anchored' loose twists neater and longer lasting.
      I'm a lazy natural so the steamer means I don't have to wear a deep conditioning cap for 20 minutes. I also love using the steamer on clothes because it's much quicker and easier than using an iron.
      Hope you're having a lovely week!
      X

    Your videos are SO informative. I've been debating twisting my hair as a long term protective style. Problem is, either I'm not particularly good at it or my method sucks because my twists end up making me look like Celie from the Color Purple lol. I think I'll use your loose twist method and see how it works out for me. Thanks for your vids! They help alot. I personally love both scripted and unscripted. Your content is thorough in both so I don't mind either method.

    i've found that loose twists work amazingly well on 4c hair. A gf of mine swears by them and she was explaining that if she does normal twists her hair locs up quick, with the loose twists however she doesn't get that.. i tried it on my hair.. not as effective lol.. will prob try again..

    • @NaturallyHigh
      @NaturallyHigh  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nelly B. That's great to hear! We 4c folk are always learning about what doesn't work - it's kind of cool to have something for ourselves. I hadn't thought of loose twists are a solution for lock-inclined hair but it makes sense. When you do a normal twist each tendril is twirled as well as being twisted. This twirling is conducive to lock-formation. Since loose twisting doesn't require as much twisting (or twirling) this doesn't happen as much. Loose twists are also easier to take out, even after up to 3 weeks! Thanks for sharing!
      Sorry to hear that loose twists don't work for you. Regular twists can be cute as well :) let me know how it goes when you try them again!
      Thanks for your support!

    • @NaturallyHigh
      @NaturallyHigh  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! No you don't but it's funny because looking back I always prefer my scripted content... The only issue is it doesn't sound as conversational, which can probably make viewers feel detached. I tend to use filler words a lot in my regular speech (think 'um', 'ugh' and 'sort of') which make my unscripted videos appear a lot less polished as well. I also look to the side to think - viewers have commented on this being annoying. Thank you for your support!

    Hi hun, I love this video, thanks for sharing! Ques: how long have you been using the hand held steamer? Do you observe that its over time 'relaxing' your curl pattern?

    • @NaturallyHigh
      @NaturallyHigh  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad to hear! Nope, I've noticed nothing of the sort. It's just an easy way to moisturise your hair and get the deep conditioner's emollients to adsorb to the strands. No "relaxing".

  • @jessicawalker8790
    @jessicawalker8790 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hand held steamer, what a great idea. Do you have clips of when your hair was shorter with twist? The twist look so pretty on you, my hair is not long enough yet so I'm not sure how the twist would look on me. I like both scripted and unscripted.

    • @NaturallyHigh
      @NaturallyHigh  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Jessica Walker I wore twists from 2 months after my big chop. To avoid the 'sticky outy' look, just make them smaller. You'll need to do mini twists until your hair is long enough for bigger ones. I'll find a link for you in a sec.

    • @NaturallyHigh

      Hey! The crucial step happened before filming. That was when I loosened my twists and pre-poo'd them. On a good day, this step takes an hour to an an hour and a half, then washing takes half an hour and styling an hour (since my hair's already detangled. Not bad since I only do it every 2-3 weeks.

    • @NaturallyHigh

      Ashley Crystal not really. My hair no longer shrinks so much because I don't let it dry loose. Then again, it's actually waist length and doesn't look it so it still does shrink to a degree... but shrinkage is what characterises our hair! X
