not so fun facts: after alexander released the reynold's pamphlet, philip became really sick, like brink of death sick, so she was dealing with that too. then, when philip died, she was also pregnant with a son who she'd go on to name philip 2. AND angelica (her daughter who she named after her sister, and who is the little sister mentioned in 9 year old philip's poem) went insane from her grief. she was really close with philip. AND peggy had died earlier that year. so eliza had to deal with that too. AND THEN, alexander and her father passed away in the same year. ELIZA WAS FIGHTING FOR HER LIFE BRO
Eliza is such an amazing character and I love that the musical also shows her life and ends with her story. The title “Hamilton” also doesn’t just stand for Alexander but also his wife and children. Their legacy.
In the biography LMM based this musical on, the author wrote that Eliza was known to say often that she couldn't wait to see her Alexander again. She tried to have his biography written three times in her life, but none of the authors who tried it managed to get through his thousands and thousands of pages of writing, and so never finished. Although he was a bit of a shit husband and cheated, he was known to be a devoted father and always found time to speak to his children in the evenings and play with them. After he died none of them ever said a bad word about him, even in private correspondence. And he actually had that in common with Burr. Burr gave his daughter Theodosia an education far beyond what women could usually hope for at the time, and they were very close. The song "Blow us all away" draws on the parallels between their lives. Theodosia died after her ship was lost at sea during a storm, when she was travelling to see her father. She literally "blew away". Phillip was "blown away" by a gun shot.
one thing you gotta remember about the whole duel 'aiming for the sky' thing is that duels in their entirety were about honour. you duel someone because they questioned or threatened something about you or someone you care about's honour. theres a whole build up where you can resolve things amicably, and decide to talk shit out instead, but if it comes to guns its to defend your honour and reputation. if someone aims to the sky, they are saying 'no, actually, i do wanna talk this out, dont wanna shoot anymore'. they are essentially disarming themselves, literally throwing away their shot. to shoot someone when they do this anyway is to shoot someone who is unarmed and wants to talk it out. and in a duel, when youre defending your honour, to shoot an unarmed man is like the pinnacle of dishonour. the entire point is defeated. your reputation would be wrecked. so shooting at the sky is like the last chance - albeit a bit risky - to turn back on the fight at the last minute and talk things out, and was a legitimate strategy. so no, hamilton telling his son (and ultimately doing so himself) to aim for the sky wasnt being dumb, it was a legitimate strategy to end a duel. just a shame for him it didnt exactly work out either time
In Philip's case it was even worse, because if you listen to the count it only goes to 7 before the shot rings out - so the guy shot Philip before the end of the count, when Philip's back was still turned (and his gun already aimed at the sky).
@@HeatherAckroyd eacker didn't actually cheat in the duel, that was done for dramatic effect to symbolise how 'wrong' phillip's death was (in that he died to early, and his parents shouldn't have outlived him)
@@HeatherAckroyd i dont think Eacker shot him on purpose tho back then guns weren't reliable so i think i read that it shot while Eacker was going to point it at the sky
@@SophiaMclainIn the real world, there was actually a stalemate with neither side shooting, until Phillip reached for his gun to aim upwards, but Eacker panicked and shot him.
No matter how many times I watch Hamilton (even when I saw it live) Leslie oldom Jr.'s performance will always blow me away. His stage presence is incredible
Everyone in the cast is great. But Leslie just brings everything to Burr and makes him all the things. We dislike him, we feel bad for him, we root against him, for him. Leslie was my star of the show
The first time I saw Satisfied, it took my breathe away. I already knew the songs from obsessing over the album, but watching the platform and dancers rewind was insane. I absolutely *love* Lin Manuel-Miranda. He is so utterly talented.
I feel like Eliza and Angelica are both GOATs. Angelica may have fondly written to him, but she only wanted her sister to be happy, she always put her sister first. And Eliza... I cry when I hear her end song. She did sooooooooo much in the time she had left. She forgave him and still stood by him in the end. She's definitely the MVP.
I just made my bf watch Hamilton for the first time and they said they weren't expecting to like it so much because they thought it was a little cringe LMAO but they did actually enjoy it a lot
mine doesn’t wanna watch it but has picked up all of the lyrics to the room where it happens, non stop, Aaron burr, sir the schuyler sisters, and all of Jonathan’s groffs songs 😭😭😭😭
I LOVE how fast you clocked that Hamilton was using Elizas own lyrics against her at times. It's subtle but like DAMN. The first time I saw this it was a bootleg video of the show on youtube, Philippa's (Eliza) scream when Philip died in that one was heart shattering. It was WAAAY too raw, both she and Lin were crying real tears and "It's quiet uptown" was hard for them to get through. Like you could tell they were in deep and it wasn't just acting. Last funfact; the real Eliza wore a tiny piece of Hamilton's writing in a necklace into her old age. That little fact breaks my heart.
“Where’s Peggy?” Peggy died fairly young in real life, that’s why she’s not in the second act. And it’s not certain if Hamilton had an affair with Angelica. I’ve heard strong evidence on both sides from biographers and historians, and obviously we’ll never really know now. He was also very friendly Peggy, and they corresponded a lot, but that was purely platonic. But we do know his affair with Maria Reynolds happened because he wrote the Reynolds Pamphlet. And Eliza Hamilton really did burn all of her letters from Hamilton. But it was just before she died (at 97), and it’s not really clear why she did it at that point. One of the reasons I like this musical is because, while it is obviously entertainment and takes some liberties with reality, it still maintains a pretty solid historical foundation.
@@theresaschuebel5151 I know Jasmine Cephas Jones plays Maria Reynolds. But that isn’t why Lin-Manuel Miranda chose not to write Peggy into the second act. The actors playing dual roles are characters who either died by the events of the second act or, in the case of Lafayette, left the country.
18:47 it wasn’t in the show, but Theodosia’s husband was killed in battle, and then she and Aaron Burr got married. Baby Theodosia was their only surviving child. I think she was about 10 when her mother passed away, hence the line in the duel scene “this man will not make an orphan of my daughter”
I’m a bit of a history nerd and I remember I read the Renolds Pamphlet and a lot of letters of Hamilton and things he’s written. (And I’d like to say I’m preference I am a writer) It is insane how panicked Hamilton sounds in the Reynolds Pamphlet. Like it is no secret Alexander is an amazing writer, and so many of his letters like the letters he sent to Lauren’s are amazingly written and interesting. The reynolds Pamphlet is honestly the worst thing he’s written, not even in a moral standpoint. He’s struggling so hard to keep a point across, it’s the ramblings of a man scared for his life. Knowing he may loose it all
Lin wrote every line you hear in the show, of every single song. The music he composed with help from others and cadances are often worked on with the singers themselves.
They actually played this in my history class a while back, took a straight week to finish and was really cool. Even had worksheets and a test on it for memorizing the unit
Fun fact about Burn! They actually worked really hard to find the right kind of paper or paper like material that would burn for the right length of time. Not too long, but not too short.
Also the gasp at the end can be interpreted a lot of different ways. Is it Eliza seeing the story has been told? Is it her reuniting with her loved ones in the afterlife? No one knows. Lin purposely left it vague and has said that the reason is different and private for each and every Eliza.
having earlier song elements seamlessly come in and blend with other songs depending on the character or situation is Lins specialty. He does it in a lot of his works, its like his signature. He blends songs like that so masterfully man
I've heard that theory a few times, and I'd love to know where it comes from. It's not in Burr's memoirs, it's not in Van Ness's statement, and the few people who Burr ever talked to about the duel were left in no doubt that he genuinely intended to kill Hamilton (Jeremy Bentham, who'd become a close friend, called him a common murderer after that conversation). Burr was also actually a good shot who practiced regularly. I mean, honestly the whole 'Burr didn't mean to kill him' sounds a lot like wishful thinking from people who like Burr (he is SO relatable) and struggle to synthesise the different aspects of his character.
17:20 I made a probably far fetched connection to this scene and the scene where we first meet Mulligan. He said he was a tailor’s apprentice, so he must’ve been good with disguises enough to be the one to be the spy
as a long-time musical fan and theatre nerd, I fucking love Hamilton, is it completely historically accurate, no, but even then this story is enough for me to have done a deep dive into Hamilton and the Schuyler sisters. I learned Philip was born on the same day as me. (and he was actually kinda cute.)
With recorded performances like this, part of me wishes they just had a few cameras placed around the theater so the picture always got the whole stage in a really still shot. The theater nerd in me just loves watching everything that is happening on the stage, so with the closeups they add effect, but it cuts off choreography and little details sometimes. 30:00 no one talks about that moment, but it’s one of my favorite visuals of the entire show. The way it slows down suddenly and at first it seems like no one is moving and then you see they’re just moving super slowly. And it’s so controlled, plus also it looks like a hurricane but instead of like weather it’s a hurricane of everything Hamilton has done
33:57 during this scene The actor for Eliza (Philipa Soo) actually lost someone in her family just before this scene. I think she insisted on still doing it, but she was crying real tears I think. That’s why you see Lin whisper something to her during when they were walking down together . He might’ve said “I’m sorry for your loss” but I’m not sure.
Also adding that Miranda said that the story seems as if it's justabout Alexander, but she became the Hamilton that this actually about. It's even built from her work--her own letters, interviews and research on Hamilton and Washington, and later books assembling/writing/assessing her and her work to preserve Hamilton's, Washington's and, to some extent, Burr's legacies.
I can’t explain how happy it made me that you realized satisfied was helpless from Angelica’s perspective so many people miss that and it kills me because it will change ur perception of the characters and the show
I love the enthusiasm you have for Eliza. Thet actress is incredible and I feel like she doesn't always get her flowers because the whole cast is also so talented too.
I got to see this musical in high school through my English class (English Performance and Art where we transform what we study into live performances). It was absolutely freaking PHENOMENAL and I wish I could experience it for the first time again. The energy was so amazing and the performance was a 10/10 all across the board.
To answer the question about term limits at 27:55, the length of a presidential term has been 4 years since the beginning. That was determined in the constitution, which was approved in 1789, the year George Washington officially became the first president. The *number* of terms you could serve as president was technically unlimited until the 22nd amendment to the constitution in 1951. But George Washington set a precedent of only serving two terms before voluntarily stepping down, and I think most if not all presidents followed suit even before the limit passed.
Daveed Diggs played Jefferson and Lawfayett. Anthony Ramos played Philip/Laurens. Jasmine played Peggy and Mrs Renyolds. The guy who played Philip Schuyler and James Renyolds.
Please react to Epic: The Musical. It's just songs. But the animatics that are AWESOME (gigi does some of the anamatics). You should start with the Troy saga. It is the first saga of 6 currently. Please, it is so good
You should watch literally any of the StarKids Production musicals. They’re all free on TH-cam and they’re all really funny, really well choreographed, and some of them genuinely have really good morals. If I were to recommend three of them they would be Twisted,(Aladdin from Jafar‘s perspective) Fire Bringer,(a story about cavepeople and the creation of fire) and The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals.(yes, you heard it correct, that is a musical about a guy who doesn’t like musicals.) fr highly recommend.
His good buddy did lead the first black battalion, but was killed shortly after the British had surrendered. Hamilton was devastated. I read the book by Ron Chernow which goes into depth about his story and relationships. ,
Yessss I’ve been waiting for this. I was in such a Hamilton phase in my middle school years, I’m not as obsessed these days but whenever I see new reactions, I am all over it.
I still remember every song verbatim lol. I went to the NZ version and it's got an amazing production. The lighting and stage are so surreal to see live.
if you haven't already seen it you should react to music from Encanto. the music was made by Lin Manuel Miranda (same guy that made hamilton) and is IMO his best work. Surface Pressure, We Dont Talk About Bruno, and Dos Oruguitas are some of the best songs from it.
I love this musical and I have a bunch of favourite songs, but on top of "quiet uptown" there is one moment that always kills me and it's Burr's "wait" right after he shoots. He's been waiting the whole story, and the one moment he should have waited, he doesn't and shoots and kills Hamilton who had shot at the sky, and he yells "wait" because he realises what he's done. Gets me every single time.
Don't know if anyone has mentioned it or if it has been done, but you can watch videos of the cast performing some of the songs at the White House, and there is also a video of Lin Manuel introducing the whole idea of the musical at a poetry jam that took place yeeeeaaars ago at the White House. It's really interesting to hear how the song changed since he introduced the idea and how he got inspired to write about Hamilton.
Other Lin-Manuel Miranda musicals are In The Heights, Bring It On (adapted from the movie), and 21 Chump Street (it’s only 15 mins and it’s on TH-cam, he wrote it for NPR). He also directed the movie version of Tick Tick Boom, which is a show written by and about the guy who wrote the musical Rent (which was a huge inspiration to Lin as the first contemporary musical he saw in the 90s). I think you would enjoy any of those!
2:20 "how does that make him an orphan" Both of your parents being dead is the literal definition of being an orphan. I'm not sure I understand the question...
His father left, he didn't die for some time (and Hamilton wrote to him even after he left, for example the text about Hurricane was actually a letter for his father)
Idk if anyone told you but the guy who plays king George ( who also plays Kristoph in frozen lol ) has always wanted to be in musicals but he tends to spit a lot when he sings and Lin said that was perfect for his character.
What do you mean ‘has always wanted to be in musicals’? He’s been in musicals since he was very young, he is a broadway and off broadway veteran. He originated the (main) role of Melchior in Spring Awakening and played it for years before this. The spit thing is true tho, is great they incorporated that and he is amazing here!
From what I've heard, Lin Manuel Miranda has said that the gasp at the end meant different things to each of the actresses who played Eliza over the course of the presentation of the musical (correct me if I'm wrong)
Scoot you should definitely check out EPIC: the musical next! It's a retelling of the Odyssey and it has a somewhat similar musical style to Hamilton. I will warn you though it isn't finished yet and the only visuals are through official and fan made animatics
I do love this musical but there are quite a few changes from history, (not just removing a lot of characters worst qualities, like pretending they fought against slavery) notably: Burr, Jefferson, and Madison were not the people who Hamilton told about the affair, they found out through the Reynolds Pamphlet, it was three different people. One of them, Charles Monroe, was challenged to a duel by Hamilton, but Burr (who was Monroe's second) managed to talk Hamilton down before either of them were shot. Philip died after the Election of 1800 not before. The tipping point wasn't Hamilton voting against Burr at the election, that was only part of it, it was actually a few years later when Hamilton staunchly discredited Burr's running for governor despite them going for the same ideals. (He also supported a smear campaign by the party's rivals). Maria Reynolds was being abused by her husband and he was threatening to kill their daughter, Susan, if she didn't find someone to have an affair with and then blackmail. She was considered very respectable and married a doctor after her husband was arrested. Burr and Maria Reynolds knew each other, although he was unaware of the affair, he was her lawyer when she divorced her husband, something considered shocking as women were not allowed to divorce their husbands. He managed to secure the divorce and a good deal for her, however. Hamilton actually supported 'positions for life' and was at first considered a sort of royalist (his views did change over time). Angelica was already married when she met Hamilton, she also had several brothers. Adams didn't fire Hamilton, although they didn't get along, Hamilton had already been discreetly let go from government when Washington was still President. At the duel, Hamilton fired his gun, it missed Burr. It is unclear if he was intending to hit him or not, because he didn't miss him by much. Also, Burr had told some people before (and insisted so afterwards) he intended on just shooting him in the leg, but misjudged. Also: If you want to check out other proshots like this I recommend the proshot of Into The Woods! Bernadette Peters is a queen and it's free to watch legally on TH-cam.
Have you got a reference for the idea that Burr told people he intended to shoot Hamilton in the leg? Because I've read through a whole bunch of stuff about Hamilton and Burr and never come across it. Burr really didn't talk much about the duel afterwards (he hated apologies and explanations, it's a whole thing), and the people he did talk to were pretty unanimous in reporting that he'd said he intended to kill. (For example the English philosopher Jeremy Bentham, who'd become a friend, said he was "little better than a murderer") (Also, Hamilton's shot was four feet wide of Burr and hit a branch twelve feet up, so it wasn't close. The question is whether it missed by so much because he intended to miss all along, or whether it missed so badly because he shot after being hit and it went wild)
Fun fact the reason ppl claim Hamilton actually wore his glasses is bc he wanted to see burr clearly to see if burr would throw away his shot or decide to shoot him
Hamilton aimed his pistol and then asked for a moment to put on spectacles , he then fired the first shot - causing Burr to think Hamilton was trying to shoot him. Hamilton's intent was to throw away the shot - which ultimately went into a tree.
You did a great job with the edit. So glad that you got to see the songs in context. My favorite musical is The Last Five Years. Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan did a great job with the filmed version.
For clarification on Angelica’s situation with Hamilton in the musical you should listen to “Congratulations” it was a song originally in the musical but they opted to take it out. Also ik you like the song “Burn” so if you haven’t already you should listen to the first version of that song called “First Burn” they ended up changing it to the one in the musical but they’re both good.
I’d love to see your reaction to the deleted songs from Hamilton because they add a lot more depth to the story like Dear Theodosia Reprise, Congratulations, and First burn
Tbh after watching this I think Scoot might like Epic The Musical as well (saying this as someone who got into Hamilton in middle school and now listens to Epic non-stop)
You should react to Come From Away - it’s a true story and possibly the most heartwarming thing ever put onstage. At bare minimum EVERY American and EVERY Canadian needs to see it!! The soundtrack and some single-song videos are available on TH-cam; otherwise the full show is available on Apple TV
If you want more musical suggestions, I would highly recommend any musical from Starkid. They don't have huge budgets, but their voice performances are incredible and their musicals are very funny. I would recommend "The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals" but everything from them is awesome. I'm not sure how the copyright works because all of their musicals are free on TH-cam but even if you have to cut it down I'd love to see you react to their stuff!
Social Scientist/Educator for over two decades. Hamilton was Black by every known law and definition, not just at that time but now toi. His mother was a formerly enslaved sex worker in the French Caribbean/West Indies. His dad was a member of the colonizing class. He was fluent in French and some German as well as English. His language fluency is one of the main reasons why Washington hired him. Also folkx either never learned or don't know the numbers of Haitians and other Black West Indians who came to what is now the U.S. and helped country win the Revolution. They were then granted citizenship and given land, and even owned other Black folkx. Literally the first casualty of the Revolution was Crispus Attucks, a Black man. So, not entirely blind casting. Even Hamilton's bestie (and lover, but folk ain't ready for that yet!) Laurens, was, also likely mixed and committed to building an all Black batallion in South Carolina and even died trying to liberate Black folkx there (where my mama's people arrived and many Geechee folkx in the Low Country saw Laurens as an unsung heri whose story inspired Robert Small's and Harriet Tubman). Just fyi. I really folkx to read more! 😂😂😂
Kudos to whoever did the editing on this video (don't know if it was Scoot or someone else). You did a fantastic job, not only of keeping enough reaction in, but also of keeping enough of the songs in that the context for the reactions was maintained. That's gotta be hard, and you did a great job with it.
The term was 4 years, but it was basically you could run as much as you wanted. George Washington however stepped down after two and to honor that, every president after him only served two terms out of respect. There was only 1 president that served 3 terms and shortly after that, it became law a president could not serve longer than 2 terms.
Besides my secondhand embarrassment and shame for ‘say no to this’ and ‘blow us all away’ when Phillip dies, I can listen to the entire soundtrack no skips. Lin is a legend for sure! You should watch ‘In the Heights’
The federalist papers averaged 2000 words per essay. The Reynolds "Pamphlet" that Hamilton wrote in act 2 was 95 pages... Our school essays were nothing to him 😊
cut my comment up lol 36:30 One source says he mightve been practicing before One source says it looked like when Burr shot him there might've been some regret on his face, and he seemed to move towards Hamilton but he or Hamilton was taken away too quickly. And he fled fleeing persecution. If there's a reaction to the Hamilton side of this song I'll comment there, but TL;DR Burr's thoughts about Hamilton's action are accurate; Hamilton's defenders or whoever said he stated his intention to them to throw away his shot (either at the sky, or just shooting wide). Glasses -> He proclaimed he... "In certain states of the light one requires glasses". He called for a break in preparations, put on his glasses, took some sightings with the pistol, aiming several at Burr? but real Burr did say he took it as an intent to take deadly aim. Someone writing the article I'm referencing says that [based on where he was standing, to summarize], he could've "been bothered by glare from the early morning sun bouncing off the water."
Thing is about Philip it doesn’t matter that Hamilton told him to aim at the sky because the other guy cheated and shot on 7 instead of 10 so even if Philip was going to shoot he was still doomed
“The music, lyrics and story were all written by Lin-Manuel Miranda who was born to parents of Puerto Rican origin and grew up in a Hispanic neighbourhood in northern Manhattan.” “In July 2008, while Lin-Manuel was on vacation in Mexico, he read the biography of Alexander Hamilton, chronicling the life of the first Treasury Secretary of the United States. Lin-Manuel was captivated by the story of Hamilton’s life and how the very human struggles of the American Revolution continue to manifest themselves in today's society.” Hamilton premiered in 2015.
A few more musicals that pro shots you can find on streaming are; Billy Elliot live, Newsies, Come from Away, Rent. Hadestown is worth listening too as well and there are some tv appearances where they perform numbers but there isn’t an official pro shot. The cast album is available though.

I 100% recommend reacting to The Great Gatsby soundtrack, it’s a new broadway musical and it’s genuinely one of the best. All of the music is such an amazing vibe and so insanely catchy. You would 100% love it.
The one thing he sort of fudged was the relationship between Alexander and Angelica. She was already married when they met and there is no evidence that there was anything ever between them. What is more interesting is that Jefferson and Angelia corresponded also and he apparently wanted her. When he was overseas he proposed that they travel back to the US on a ship together and go visit Niagra Falls. And then there is this letter he wrote to her; Jefferson begs Angelica to return to Paris and in August 1788 he seductively proposes that she accompany him on a vacation to America. “Think of it, my friend, and let us begin a negotiation on the subject. You shall find in me all the spirit of accommodation with which Yoric began his with the fair Piedmontese.” The characters Jefferson mentioned are in a sexually charged scene in “Sentimental Journey,” a best-selling novel of the day by English writer Laurence Sterne. Yoric is forced to share a room at a crowded Italian country inn with the lovely stranger Piedmontese, and the two eventually have sex. At the time, she was still married but Jefferson was a widower.
Yes, Theodosia's husband died at the end of the war. She married Burr very soon afterward. Theodosia Bartow Prevost was a Patriot, even if her husband was a Loyalist. She offered her house, The Hermitage, as a meeting- and resting-place for Washington and his officers during the war, and Lafayette, Hamilton, Burr, and Washington were all very frequent guests.

@@ThatCheeseonYT ohh thx for the correction im not skilled in guns or anything!

No matter how many times I watch Hamilton (even when I saw it live) Leslie oldom Jr.'s performance will always blow me away. His stage presence is incredible
no seriously
Everyone in the cast is great. But Leslie just brings everything to Burr and makes him all the things. We dislike him, we feel bad for him, we root against him, for him. Leslie was my star of the show
I saw it with a traveling show and I will say I was skeptical at first but they where all fantastic
“What y’all talking about Hamilton a good guy man!”
Oh boy lol
Scoot, you dONT UNDERSTAND. I’ve been stalking your videos waiting IMPATIENTLY for this video. I already know it will be great, LOVE YOUUU
Haha I’ve been doing the same 😎
REALL
The first time I saw Satisfied, it took my breathe away. I already knew the songs from obsessing over the album, but watching the platform and dancers rewind was insane. I absolutely *love* Lin Manuel-Miranda. He is so utterly talented.
Given the performance, the singing, dancing, lyrics, music, argue that it’s not the best song in Broadway history.
When you said that it seemed like Hamilton wasn’t a bad guy in the beginning… I literally thought like „Just you wait… Act 2 is still coming“
I'd say.. WAIT FOR IT actually.. 💀
@@darling_astra I guess both are reasonable options
He still isnt
Just you wait just you wait~
I mean he wasn't bad. But he definitely imploded
I just made my bf watch Hamilton for the first time and they said they weren't expecting to like it so much because they thought it was a little cringe LMAO
but they did actually enjoy it a lot
yeah my dad hates musicals cause he's "not into white shit" but it won him over
@@DevilSpadeThe way I started wheezing from laughter at this omg
@@DevilSpade the way theres only one white character in the whole play 😭
I'm still tryna convince mine 😭😭
mine doesn’t wanna watch it but has picked up all of the lyrics to the room where it happens, non stop, Aaron burr, sir the schuyler sisters, and all of Jonathan’s groffs songs 😭😭😭😭
Watch “In the Heights” that was Lin Manuel Miranda’s first broadway musical. He’s a genius.
YESSSSS thats a fantastic musical
Yess please❤️
Hamilton is the embodiment of die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.
She isn't in the second act because she is playing Mrs Renyolds. Peggy died shortly before Philip's duel that is why she is wearing black.
(And I’d like to say I’m preference I am a writer)
It is insane how panicked Hamilton sounds in the Reynolds Pamphlet. Knowing he may loose it all
That’s really fascinating, makes me want to check it out now
Lin wrote every line you hear in the show, of every single song.
He blends songs like that so masterfully man
Burr: "Dear Theodosia, what to say to you..."
Scoot: "Oh, yeah. The war is over now, so... get out her bed."
Dead hahaha XD XD XD XD
FINALLY
Oh in the Hamilton and burr duel, burr was apparently shooting for his leg but he can’t aim and shot him in his side
@@ceiswyn same I’d also love to know where but I guess people like to believe it by him saying he’s a terrible shot in one of the songs
@@AreesiaHamilon he says it right before shooting Hamilton to death actually
@@-Olea- yeah he does, but that's Lin-Manuel's portrayal of him, him saying so in the musical doesn't mean it's true
The guy at 6:22 has been in Hamilton since it started and it still there now 😂
Also adding that Miranda said that the story seems as if it's justabout Alexander, but she became the Hamilton that this actually about.
Only musical with stand ovations for each performance five years in a row.
I got to see this musical in high school through my English class (English Performance and Art where we transform what we study into live performances). It was absolutely freaking PHENOMENAL and I wish I could experience it for the first time again. The energy was so amazing and the performance was a 10/10 all across the board.
That's sounds like a cool class!
Anthony Ramos who played Philip Hamilton and John Laurens was in the movie of In the heights another musical that Lin wrote.
Please react to Epic: The Musical. It's just songs. But the animatics that are AWESOME (gigi does some of the anamatics). You should start with the Troy saga. It is the first saga of 6 currently. Please, it is so good
@@JayTai1016 I’m just going around liking all Epic the musical comments, join me in my crusade ⚡️🔥✨❤️🩹
Sooo how we feeling about the newest 2 sagas???
You should watch literally any of the StarKids Production musicals. They’re all free on TH-cam and they’re all really funny, really well choreographed, and some of them genuinely have really good morals. If I were to recommend three of them they would be Twisted,(Aladdin from Jafar‘s perspective) Fire Bringer,(a story about cavepeople and the creation of fire) and The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals.(yes, you heard it correct, that is a musical about a guy who doesn’t like musicals.) fr highly recommend.
I vote for “The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals”
Lin Manuel also did In The Heights, the music for Encanto, and Vivo was his movie - to name a few 🖤✨🙌
His good buddy did lead the first black battalion, but was killed shortly after the British had surrendered. Hamilton was devastated. I read the book by Ron Chernow which goes into depth about his story and relationships.
,
i've analyzed one of hamiltons essays and can confirm it was essay length and essay quality. he was speaking extra fancy
Its titled Hamilton because while through most of it, it is indeed Alexander's story but in the end it's Eliza's
Eliza gasps at the end because the house lights come up and she sees the audience. She sees that her story is being told 200 years later.
if you haven't already seen it you should react to music from Encanto. the music was made by Lin Manuel Miranda (same guy that made hamilton) and is IMO his best work.
Lin wrote The song about Burr and Hamilton's kids around the time his oldest son wad born
She cried out at the end because the house lights came up, revealing the audience... and she realized her story had been told. Waterworks.
I AM THE A-L-E-X-A-N-D-E-R WE ARE MEANT TO WATCH THIS VIDEO. I love your musical reactions!
you have caught a lot of the little things people dont see until a few times through!! its impressive

Satisfied and what'd I miss are my fave songs from thjs
When my teacher played this musical for my history class my eyes where opened brother 😭 I LOVE THIS MUSICAL its been 4 years sense i first saw it
So glad you watched it. Seeing it gives it so much more context!
He was a very well known Broadway actor/singer long before hamilton
From what I've heard, Lin Manuel Miranda has said that the gasp at the end meant different things to each of the actresses who played Eliza over the course of the presentation of the musical (correct me if I'm wrong)
Scoot you should definitely check out EPIC: the musical next! It's a retelling of the Odyssey and it has a somewhat similar musical style to Hamilton. I will warn you though it isn't finished yet and the only visuals are through official and fan made animatics
Second this!
I do love this musical but there are quite a few changes from history, (not just removing a lot of characters worst qualities, like pretending they fought against slavery) notably:
Burr, Jefferson, and Madison were not the people who Hamilton told about the affair, they found out through the Reynolds Pamphlet, it was three different people.
(For example the English philosopher Jeremy Bentham, who'd become a friend, said he was "little better than a murderer")
(Also, Hamilton's shot was four feet wide of Burr and hit a branch twelve feet up, so it wasn't close.
Scoot! The guy who plays the King voices Krostoff in Frozen!!! 😂

My editors are always credited in the description. But tysm for the love!
AND NO DONT CHANGE THE SUBJECT! 😡🤬😡
Cause you're my favorite subject 😊😇💕
The term was 4 years, but it was basically you could run as much as you wanted. George Washington however stepped down after two and to honor that, every president after him only served two terms out of respect. There was only 1 president that served 3 terms and shortly after that, it became law a president could not serve longer than 2 terms.
Besides my secondhand embarrassment and shame for ‘say no to this’ and ‘blow us all away’ when Phillip dies, I can listen to the entire soundtrack no skips. Lin is a legend for sure! You should watch ‘In the Heights’
Their essays were 10 - 20 pages....
Oh my 😳
The federalist papers averaged 2000 words per essay. The Reynolds "Pamphlet" that Hamilton wrote in act 2 was 95 pages...
Our school essays were nothing to him 😊
Maybe it was discussed live and edited out, but President John Quincy Adams was the son of President John Adams.
Enjoyed watching your reaction video!
cut my comment up lol
36:30 One source says he mightve been practicing before
One source says it looked like when Burr shot him there might've been some regret on his face, and he seemed to move towards Hamilton but he or Hamilton was taken away too quickly.
Ham, threw his shot and Burr did throw away his shot.

Thanks for the reaction, My Shot is what first made me love this musical, it’s amazing!
The one thing he sort of fudged was the relationship between Alexander and Angelica. She was already married when they met and there is no evidence that there was anything ever between them. What is more interesting is that Jefferson and Angelia corresponded also and he apparently wanted her. When he was overseas he proposed that they travel back to the US on a ship together and go visit Niagra Falls. And then there is this letter he wrote to her;
Jefferson begs Angelica to return to Paris and in August 1788 he seductively proposes that she accompany him on a vacation to America.
“Think of it, my friend, and let us begin a negotiation on the subject. You shall find in me all the spirit of accommodation with which Yoric began his with the fair Piedmontese.”
The characters Jefferson mentioned are in a sexually charged scene in “Sentimental Journey,” a best-selling novel of the day by English writer Laurence Sterne.
