    I was getting really annoyed at people calling her “fatphobic” for saying she was disfigured by the procedure. I was practically yelling for people to look up what this reaction ACTUALLY looks like. It is not just weight gain, it looks like hard BRICKS of fat cells protruding out of your body. She was never saying that being fat is “disfiguring”!!! This reaction is not normal fat gain. It is hard, sometimes painful, disfiguring masses. If you wanna call her fatphobic for getting a weight loss procedure in the first place, that’s your opinion, but she did not call fat people disfigured.

    • @JamesWelsh
      @JamesWelsh  ปีที่แล้ว +952

      Yeah it’s far from being fat phobic. It wasn’t fat evenly distributed throughout the body. It’s literally blocks of fat!

      @@HadenBlake I completely agree tbh. But some see it as fatphobic, which is their opinion. I think it’s an immature opinion lacking all nuance, but they are entitled to think whatever they want. Even if she just gained permanent “normally textured fat”, her job is her likeness. She’s disfigured in the sense that she no longer looks like herself and this happened very suddenly. Because her face and body are her “products” in her business as a model, any big permanent changes are disfiguring. Like if she went in for Botox and came out with a nose job, even if it looks great she’s still disfigured you know

      Omg yes. I'm an esthetician & it's SO IMPORTANT to do all the research into the manufacturers of all the different machines & lasers. There is an entire underground world of off-label or "used" machines & lasers - along with just corrupt manufacturers in general. I've heard & seen horror stories of people being burned and scarred. You REALLY have to learn about the machines & the different technologies & then learn about the clinic and see if they have a relationship with the manufacturers - big ones like Candela or Aerolase often have social media presences - try to find clinic training photos with the lasers. I mean anything down to the new hydrodermabrasion/hydrafacial world. These machines are expensive and produce revenue and wherever there is money, there is often shady practices. Idc if it's fat removal, tattoo removal, hair removal, or even a lash tint - make sure your beauty professionals are using quality products from manufacturers that you know have reputable machines. It may be a bit more costly, as a consumer and practitioner. But many practitioners will see duplicate options on Amazon that claim to do these big treatments Cavatation Machines, Microneedling devices, hydro or microdermabrasion - some of them actually look like the professional versions for thousands less than quality ones. Minus all the legalities, testing and training 🙄. It's a wild world. It's too lucrative - stay safe everyone and invest in your skin! The largest organ in your body!

      Ok but I got a bunch of cool sculpting done and it worked wonders. Before you get the procedure done they tell you that the area you get cool sculpted may have an adverse effect where it actually causes you to gain weight in the area but that’s in like a very small number of patients. At least for me they didn’t hide it, they made it very clear it’s a possibility. I did a lot of research into cool sculpting before I got it and I thought it was worth the risk for me personally because the risk of having the dangerous side effects was very small. It’s super unfortunate that happened to Linda but there are thousands of people that it didn’t happen to and they had a positive experience. There’s two sides to everything, only focusing on the negative doesn’t give you the entire picture. (Plus it’s A LOT safer and has WAYYY less potential complications than fat loss surgery. So that should be taken into account as well.)

      Hey! I actually had coolsculpting done last year on my lower stomach to help with my “pooch” or fupa area. I had no weird side effects, not even bruising, just regular tenderness and numbness for about two weeks. All that being said, i did 3 sessions (2 applicators each session, one on each side) and my cost was about $4000 since I did it during a summer deal. Personally, I don’t think it’s worth it for the cost alone. The difference wasn’t noticeable enough IMO to justify the cost

      I was a nurse in a cosmetic surgeon's office and I have to tell you: if you're dead set on a fat loss procedure, please just go with liposuction. cool sculpting is a waste of money. you need so many sessions, and they are so expensive and the results are minimal. many people also end up with dips in their skin where they got it that don't heal properly. by the time you pay for 6 sessions that are barely doing anything except making weird dips here and there, you could have gotten liposuction and had money left over. moreover, liposuction is safer in general as long as you go to a board certified plastic surgeon with a good reputation (not an 80 year old dr who refuses to retire).

      I’ve actually gotten cool sculpting done quite a few times and I was made VERY aware of all the potential side effects. Just as a side note, if the procedure is done properly by a trained medical professional most of those side effects are almost guaranteed not to happen. The frostbite one especially, they have a lot of medical research studies done on the procedure and frostbite shouldn’t be a complication if done properly. The reason I went through with it is because statistically the risk of getting the side effects was extremely low. I ended up not having any issues. I totally agree that people should be aware of the side effects but they should also know that they’re not guaranteed to get any of them. Another reason it was worth it to me is because surgery fat loss complications are much higher.

I was getting a nose job and decided to have that area liposuctioned and I gotta say, it was the best decision and I’d do it over and over if I had to. Healing was only a bit ouchie for a week but after that it just felt sensitive like a bruise. It has never come back and I have no scarring. Wow, I have a tiny little bit under my chin. It’s not super noticeable but I am very insecure about it, and have been looking around trying to see what I can do about it, but everywhere has been trying to sell me courses of things that may not even do the job right, and they say that after the courses I’ll need to get even more surgery/treatments to fix the side effects (which apparently includes sagging skin on your face, which is exactly the opposite of what I want!).
      Do you think that lipo would work even for a small fat pocket? It’s not nonexistent, it’s just not always super noticeable (only from certain angles).
      I was always thin, but I’m not anymore because of a medication that I have to take for another issue that has completely messed up my metabolism, and that’s when this fat pocket appeared.

    I swear, being legal to make someone sign a nondisclosure agreement to get payment is one of the greatest crimes we accept. I was involved in a lawsuit years ago, and in the nearly 7 years it took to get to court, I was constantly being encouraged to just take some money and shut up. The money in question not even covering the current medical bills, when at least 4 surgeries were foreseen for my future. Only thing that kept me hanging on were the horror stories I had heard of people taking a settlement and actually winding up in debt, because they were desperate for the money. Admittedly, someone paying for Cool Sculpt probably isn't hurting for cash, but it was still blackmail level to give her an ultimatum right before surgery. IDK if I'm making sense - the legal system and people crushed by it simply because they did not have a secure income or cash to waste just really infuriates me.

    This is actually horrifying. Not just the physical damages but mental ones too. Sure she isn't totally disfigured but this DID disfigure her in a way because before and after she really does not look like the same woman. In her line of work it is disfigurment and the fact she went from the top to having absolutely nothing the poor woman. I really don't understand how "medical professionals" fail to inform people of any type of side effect. This type of stuff has happened to me and its a pain in the bum but I could never imagine this happening. I'd initially wanted lipo or kybella but was talked into cool sculpting as a better treatment for me. There was only a slight noticable difference. Such a huge waste of money. It's been about 4 1/2 years since then but now I'm a bit worried if there are any potential side effects that'll show up some time in the future that we weren't warned about.

    I have had injuries to both of my shoulders, and have to very carefully do targeted exercise to work my shoulders, biceps, and triceps because I have inherited my dad's side of the family getting them.
    What infuriated me about the bullying she got was, it wasn't just ordinary adipose tissue, it literally was growing out of control, hardening, causing physical pain(I have heard the pain is the equivalent of the pregnant overnight stretch mark pain, of which I'm extremely familiar with, plus it causes stretch marks from the skin being pulled taut, and scarring from stretch marks have their own fun issues), and if not treated properly, can be a recurring issue.

    Dear James,
    I’m A from London currently in UCLH where I’ve been for the majority of time since 2016. I can’t tell you how grateful I am to the powers that brought me to this video tonight/ prior to which I was finding it hard to breathe due to an appointment I have with my surgeon tomorrow (Friday 26th of May) I too have been disfigured, developed severe mental emotional problems due to looking unrecognisable, being too sick and weak to get out of bed, being the subject of very cruel comments as I was a model. My reasoning is not due to this procedure. I’m the opposite in facts severe surgery after surgery followed by ‘near lethal’ sepsis 9 times now. It’s astonishing and wonderful I’m alive. But I don’t have a life. I’ve lost a horrific amount of not only weight but all my muscle mass. I was a motivating fitness model and spokesmodel. I’m covered in scars that look like I’ve been in a real life slasher film.
    But my mind is strong. I do get awful anxiety but I have to be On Point tomorrow (now today as it’s nearly 1am in England)
    This incredible superhuman model has been in my eyes all my life and I didn’t believe it when I saw your thumbnail so scrolled past looking for something soothing but I had to go back to it. The resolution was great- thank goodness and I felt you’d do such a video as classy as could be.
    Thank you again. I’m not going to find something all make up and creams 😁 I’ve been subscribed to you on Snapchat for the longest time and now I’m part of your YT family clap
    Sweet dreams

    What is interesting about adipose tissue is that with diet and exercise the existing fat cells do not go away. They just go through a process of expansion with weight gain or shrinkage with weight loss. So I can see the appeal behind this ability to make the cells undergo lysis.
    Btw I also have an under chin bag and wanted to try Kybella but as a hygienist I had to learn about head and neck anatomy and the truth is that bag is not just caused by fat. It's a combination of tissues that make up the functional structures of the lower part of the oral cavity and the neck. So unfortunately for people like us who are in our proper weight range Kybella is not an optimal solution.
    Also, remember people that as consumers we are responsible for what we purchase whether it be services or goods. We are responsible for doing the proper research. Which is unfortunate as well because we all have our weaknesses and disadvantages so not everyone is always capable of making responsible decisions. I do think the med spa services are usually exploitative of this and of the emotional influence that goes behind people making decisions to alter their bodies. It's a bit manipulative to minimize the possible side effects knowing that when someone has an insecurity and is coming to a consult they pretty much have already made up their mind and will not likely be dissuaded to move forward with the procedure.
    It's psycholgical persuasion exploiting insecurities. And insecurities is a need that people will usually focus on resolving physically over psychologically no matter the cost and sometimes even over more realistic needs such as food, shelter, and transportation.

      So you're saying that my double chin pocket flab might not go away with kybella? I have it, my gran, my mum, aunts and cousins do too and some of them are very skinny, I'm maybe 1kg overweight? - it doesn't go away, it just gets more saggy with age. It's genetic in my case and I really hate it. Always have. I hate it a bit less the older I get though.
      I was really thinking about getting Kybella (probably for the past 5 years), but you might have saved me money and disappointment. I don't want actual surgery for it. I looked into that in my early 20s, but it's not for me.

    Hi James, I watched and re-watched this video deciding whether to comment or not .. so here goes! I have had several coolsculpting procedures .. all amazingly successful .. I lost 4 stone over 3years (slowly and steady). I was working out 5 times a week, 2hrs a day - back-to-back classes, swimming, abs classes .. you name it, I did it ... and did it intensely (enjoyed every minute and still do!!) .. but there were pockets of fat that I could not shift no matter what, so I had coolsculpting done on the small pockets of fat on my inner thighs 1st, followed (a year later) by my underarms and then another yr later on my stomach (where I had surgery) and 'bra' straps .... all of this took place over 3yrs (it is very expensive) and I have NEVER looked back. I could never ever have achieved this with diet and excercise. I still have a flat stomach and no pouches despite putting on 8lbs. I have been on the positive end of the procedure and I feel so so much more confident (BTW I am the same age as Linda Evangleista) .. I suppose all I would say is do get this procedure done on your chin/face until you have had it done somewhere else and it has worked out ok .. my therapists were excellent, extremely educated and I took their advise completely. I started with my inner thighs and I took a yr to see how it worked before deciding the next area to target. If people are interested in this procedure, get it done first on an area where you wouldn't be devastated if it didn't work. Honestly it will take at least 3-4 months before you will see a difference, despite what anyone will tell you. I am so so happy with my results. I just thought I would post this as you asked for people who have had this done to comment. Everyone has their own reasons for doing this .. hopefully without being judged. I am nervous about the reaction I will get here, but I am happy and have no regrets.

    I got cool sculpting when I was 15.. so sad how the media made me feel like I wasn’t beautiful enough at such a young age, I’m 21 now and I almost forgot I got it done, I didn’t notice any particular bulges however because I was so young and I continued to struggle with an eating disorder I have since continued my cycle of gaining and losing weight with no particularly noticeable difference.
    Just try to be healthy y’all there’s no point to this. ‘Problem areas’ are just curvatures on a body, I don’t regret getting it done even though because I have gained weight I am not sure whether I do have bulges or not (def nothing extreme) it was part of my journey into accepting myself.

      So much this! I've been doing a deep dive into the Wellness industry for over 2 years and the conclusion I've come to is that people are seriously harming themselves to chase "skinniness at any cost." What's truly important is self acceptance, self compassion, self love. That's where true happiness comes from. The whole industry is harm and manipulation to get us to spend money. They want us to hate ourselves so we'll chase their validation without noticing they're always moving the goal posts. Removing yourself from the main narrative by not caring anymore is truly liberating!

    I almost got cool-sculpting. I paid 6k and then had a panic attack right before she started. I used the money towards Cooltone (like Emsculpt, muscle toner.)
    So….
    The girl was late, and I was looking online. I stumbled on a support group online for people damaged by CoolSculpting. I asked: « wait, what? »
    There were hundreds of damaged people. The pain from those bricks, it’s sad. And liposuction doesn’t always fix it for good. It causes all kinds of weird fat growth.
    It’s definitely more than 1%! Those numbers are lies. Even the med-spa girl said she had several clients develop PAH. They make people sign an NDA to pay for 1 lipo. If it doesn’t work, you’re up a creek. You’ve signed a release and you can’t complain because you have to sign the NDA.
    Get liposuction, if you get anything. I was lucky enough to dodge that risk that day. Please don’t risk it.

    I've personally struggled a lot with weight and not recognising myself after the last few years. Having lost 40kg in 2019, In early 2020 I was diagnosed with severe, aggressive arthritis, and was put on incredibly high steroid doses, as well as a medication to help me sleep, both of which not only made me gain weight like crazy (and VERY quickly) but also gave me an allergy to the sun, so I was covered in, essentially, lesions. My hair was falling out and, due to the extreme anxiety of losing my job, my best friend, being made bankrupt due to health bills, and all this health stuff in generall, (and during a pandemic no less!!) I developed trich/dermitillomania, which made everything ten times worse. I'm now 20 kg heavier than I was before I lost the weight, my body is covered in scars, none of my clothes fit, and I can't work due to chronic fatigue (from my various conditions, and as I already had pretty large chronic health conditions before the rheumatoid arthritis it all compounded), anxiety but mainly because I need both wrists doe for carpal tunnel (I finally got tje first one a few weeks ago, yay!) and I need my left jaw joint (TMJ) to be completely replaced, which is such a specialised surgery and, due to my high bleed risk/poor wound healing from cEDS, no public healthcare doctor/surgeon will touch me with a barge pole (oh, and they cut the maxillofacial dept at my local hospital anyway!!) and my insurance won't cover it, meaning I have to travel somewhere and cough up $60k (which isn't normal in NZ).
    I look in the mirror and don't recognise myself. I'm 30 next month and I've never even been kissed yet, let alone dated, or held hands. I feel like I've lost three years and that I'm running out of time if I want kids, but given I feel the worst about myself now more than I ever have, the last thing I want to do is put myself out there, because I'm keenly aware that I'm no catch.
    I don't want to elicit pity and I'm not compliment phishing, but I say all this because I cannot even _imagine_ any of this happening to someone as famous and highly visible as Evangelisa-let alone a very famous model, actress and celebrity whose _job_ is based almost entirely around looking superhumanly beautiful and attractive. On top of that, I am even more overwhelmed at the thought of _someone else_ doing this to her, and making her feel this way. She shouldn't feel any guilt, because this isn't her fault, but from personal experience I always feel guilty, because I contantly do think "Is this my fault? Did I come into contact with something that triggered this? Could I have done something differently?" and these questions haunt me, even though I know logically they're so dumb.
    My heart goes out to her, and anyone who has dealt with anything similar (to her or me) because it's so hard sometimes, feeling like you're in this ugly, lonely little corner of the world, that people will be disgusted by you, or that you'll never work again, that people will judge you, and laugh at you... I really do feel for her, even if our stories are not the same.
    Please know that you're not alone, no matter, and that whatever you feel you're going through, weigh, look like, sound like, or whatever it might be: you are a valuable human, and even if those around you can't see it, you deserve to be loved, and if others don't seem to love you, you need to love and honour yourself, because YOU are the one who matters here, not people who you can't control.
    Nothing angers a mean person than the confidence of the person they're trying to bully, and nothing silences mockery and rude statements by taking the higher road of kindness, because hurt people hurt people, so don't hurt others-but don't hurt yourself either...
    ... be it thoughts, actions, words, comments, whatever it is, you're worthy of happiness right now, and you don't have to wait until you loose weight, or have something changed, or when you fit into those clothes, or whatever other thing you're waiting to happen before you start... no. You deserve to be happy now. (that's not to say all change is bad but you need to love yourself through those changes, not just at the end.)

    You know the great thing about those contracts they're not admissible in court. Meaning you cannot be held to a confidentiality contract or an NDA if it is holding something over your head. For example, we'll pay for your surgery if you sign this, but we won't if you don't, that contract would no longer be admissible in court. They gave you that contract under duress therefore it is an illegal contract. If anybody gives you a contract like that, sign it, make them pay for it. If it doesn't work you can still say something and you can still sue them.

    Progression over perfection. There are no cure-alls in life, unfortunately, and it's not worth the risks from so many of these procedures. I think I'll stick to a good diet, exercise, and find contentment as I am. At least until it can all be done in one go with zero side effects, haha.

    I've been considering cryosculpting for about 6 years after having had 2 kids and I get bombarded with so many ads for it, however given I have autoimmune issues, I fear I may get that same backfiring issue or probably trigger something worse 😢 I guess at the end of the day I'm not a supermodel who has to rely on staying 120lbs forever so there's that 😂

  • @Grains_of_truth
    @Grains_of_truth 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    This is quite shocking because I was considering the cool sculpting. I have a lower tummy that I didn't want to go for surgery for but figured the cool sculpt may help reduce it since dieting has just made it looser looking. Honestly, I said to my partner I would rather have a slightly chubby tubby than loose skin. Exercise doesn't seem to have gotten the lower tummy to go away but only firmer underneath... then again I am 41 years old now. Many women struggle with this area on our tummies , especially after giving birth. I didn't know cool sculpting could cause such side effects. It is frightening.

    The thing that put me off Coolsculpting was they told me for my pot belly pouch I would need 4 paddles, x 3/4 sessions and the total was $4500 😱😬
    It was at that point I thought I’d have to just diet hard and watch what I eat forever.

    This cryo treatment is supposed to remove 26 fat cell layers, did I get this right? That is not even 1 Millimeter in thickness of the fat layer. Remember those cells are teeny tiny

    • @toothfairy430
      @toothfairy430 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean adipose tissue mimics bubbles in the nonlinear structure of cells so I don't understand the concept of fat cell layers. It's different from other tissue structures which tend to have a more uniform structure.

    • @chichinashi2709
      @chichinashi2709 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its actually a lot, you can look up histological pictures of adipose tissue and you will realize that it can be a lot depending on where the adipose cells are located (certain tissues have more adipose cells than others). Adipose cells differ from others because they look like bubbles, usually with stretched out nuclei, and they can be a lot bigger than other cells like epitelial cells, etc. For example, removing 26 layers of adipose cells contained in the parotid gland would probably remove nearly if not all adipose tissue.

      @ann-marielukas5895 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chichinashi2709 yes, histological pics show them as bubbles and I have also seen them under a microscope working in a lab :) I am a biomedical scientist. still one adipocyte is very small, you cannot see them with your naked eye.
      I think I did not understand your example. I was quite sure glands are not made of adipocytes. Maybe I need to refresh my endocrinology :)

    I write so much today. I'm very happy dear James, that you are talking about this Procedure in public in your Channel 🤗😘👍👏👏👏!
    I was talking about with my Doc's, my Physicians I was working together over 25 years before, around 20, 25 years ago...
    And they didn't buy this expensive Machine!
    I can't explain my feelings (build of my Knowledge and Biological Understanding) , but I "know" = this will make more Problems as it give the Patients nice Results!
    And I was right!
    Thx to all good Ghosts,❣️🤗👍
    It's good and informative that YOU bring this "on the Table" to talk about ! Thank you ❣️🤗👏👏🥰✌️
    And i have lost some Tears about the Destiny it gives to Linda E., that is so sad what is happened to her❣️😓😩😢
    But strong as she is : she had overcome this ✌️🥰👏❣️
    But: in one Sight she was also so brave , that she was going to the Public and the whole Media !
    I hope that she was successfull to warn all Women on this Earth about this stupid, too much expensive and dangerous Procedure and will lose their Body-Feel, lose a lot of Money un-neccessarily and will get lot of Pain - 😢

    I really want to get CoolSculpting done to the inside of my thighs. There are two blobs of fat, one on each side that just rub together and make life painful... But my mom got CoolSculpting on her arms and chin and it got fudged up! She's a bit numb and there is permanent wrinkling and lumps on her arms and chin now. It's been over 10 years and it's gone away a bit, but the fat just came back in all the wrong ways

  • @alisueblogs9029

    I considered it but won't be getting it! I had breast reconstruction surgery using fat from my lower stomach which means I have proportionally more fat above my belly button than below it so even diet and exercise won't completely correct it. I've undergone enough surgery so won't be getting liposuction either! I think I'll just need to keep thinking carefully about my wardrobe choices! 😂

    I wish I would’ve known about this before. I had cool sculpting done in April and have my second session in June. I’ve lost about 70lbs and obviously an unfortunate side effect is saggy skin. I work out with a trainer and do strength training but some areas just don’t go away. My upper arms/bat wings make me very self conscious which is why I had it done. Now that I’ve seen this I’m even more nervous BUT I will complete my second treatment. To be honest it’s very pricey and I had decided long ago I would just take care of my arms and hope exercising and eating right will get rid of the rest of the fat. 🤷🏽‍♀️

    • @NoelleTakestheSky
      @NoelleTakestheSky ปีที่แล้ว

      A better method for the skin, speaking as someone who was once 400 pounds and is now 140, is Ultherapy. Red light therapy. It doesn’t have disfiguring effects. Many Planet Fitness gym locations have TBE machines that are basically an over-the-counter dose. Chances are you many need to still have some skin nipped, but it’s worth it.
      The tricky thing about fat is that cells only get so large, like a balloon, before your body makes more. As you shrink them back down, they’re still there, taking up space like empty balloons. That’s why they’ll seem like nothing works after a point-the cell is still there.
