Great video... I just found your channel and really enjoying it..especially the sheepshead. Dauphin Island has become one of my favorite places to fish. I use a kayak unless I'm with my brother in his big center console. I'm sure you hear this 1,000 times a year, but I sure would love to fish with you. Some of those places, like the light house are just a little too far to get my kayak out comfortably.
Very much enjoyed your video.....my husband is retiring next year and we are seriously thinking about retiring to the island....we love it down there!!!! I know he's gonna want to do some fishing....I'll show him your video 😃😃
Man, where are the calm days like that when I come down to go offshore/near shore.. I swear.. I have to come down from Birmingham when I can to visit my parents and get out on their boat, and when ever I do, it swear its at least 2 ft seas. Great video.
Here lately pretty days have been few an far between man! Very rough year, but i always keep a lookout on my wind apps and take advantage of pretty days when we get em.
Capt I just saw you subscribed to my channel man and I had to come by to say that you ar e a very welcome addition my friend... loving your work and it's cool to see a channel of this quality in that area! Kep up the great work sir!
Im from the area and good job with the Sheepshead. For those who were asking about the lighthouse I know it was blown in half during the Battle of Mobile Bay because there were 2 lookouts in it and the union ships blew the top half off. And it was rebuilt If I remember it says 1873 but I may be off a year or two but it's a beautiful lighthouse. And I need to get out there and do some fishing and diving
No problem. Consider fishing the rigs as well, you can always throw your bow line around something on the rig and tie up. Makes it’s a lot easier for people who don’t have spot lock. Water temperatures are back up and sheepshead fishing is only getting better from here till April
Just bought a 21 foot jet drive Bow Rider. I dont do much fishing and needed something to haul a few people. I would like to ride out to the Lighthouse in the next week or so if the weather is right.
A calm flat day, a limit.
Enjoy those days, they don't come that often.

❤hi Capt Collier, all the way from South Africa
Great job Collier my father in 1969 in Charleston.S.C. Caught the State record Sheepshead 15 pounds 4 oz. What a Sheepshead. Love those fish.
That’s a monster for sure. Biggest I got on my belt is 13 1/2lbs. Thanks for watching

Thanks Captain. I Don't think I can do that without spot lock or 3 anchors but I'm going to try.

Geeeez. Now that's a good day!
Yes it was! thanks for the comment.
I'm bringing my 22 BXBR down in 2 days. Hopefully I can get on them!
They should be on fire 🔥 if you can get out there without getting beat too bad
@@CaptCollier that’s my fear, looking at the wind forecast
@@CaptCollier how is the sound? Last year when I was there it was freshwater. No bait in the sound or at the bait shop.
@@navycryoman I haven’t been out in the sound any this year, if I get time I’m gonna make a run out there tomorrow
Just went on a field trip yesterday to that exact light house
It’s a cool sight to see!
I have fished there several times. for some reason the years 1829 and 1862 both come to mind. I'm sure both are wrong.
very close! if im not mistaken this current one was 1864. Thanks for watching
i was fishing there yesterday
Nice, Did you have any luck?
@@CaptCollier yes i got 8 sheepshead
Its been a while since I have been out to it but a guess is like 120 years
I do believe this current one was built in 1864! so yea its been there a little while haha
I live near the island in Coden. I think it was built in 1872. I didnt google it.
From what I read, the current one that’s there was built in 1864...so very close!

Damn putting a whoopin on them
Shoot they was whooping back 😂 thanks for watching
The current lighthouse or the ones before that one?
Ahhh you caught my trick question lol but the current one
It looks somewhat weathered so 10 years
If I'm not mistaken I believe this one has been there since 1864
@@CaptCollier I was off by a long shot
What does it cost to get a ride out to this place??? No fishing, just want to see the light house.
Where are you getting live shrimp? I can’t find any around
Deer river bait man. If they don’t have them no one will. 🤙
Thank you
They have had them at fisherman's discount in barnwell.
@@merliclovis where’s that at??
What trolling motor are you using
Minn Kota terrova 24v
Love the videos man, which Sea Hunt are you running?
Thanks man! And currently the 22 bx br. I want to upgrade but every time I look the boat prices change my mind
If you use a speck rig you will catch unlimited lady fish at the light house
I don’t really want them poopy fish haha
Are these good to eat?
Very good!
Probably about 184 years, I guess.
Hey brother been watching your videos lately and looks like you got mobile bay figured out. How can I get in touch with you?
Idk bout all that, I just get lucky from time to time! Lol and you can’t DM my Instagram @ Capt.collier_ OR email @ branden.collier@yahoo.com
