I recently watched a video from tale foundry titled "When to forgive a villain." They used Zuko from the last airbender as a good example. The answer to the question is, you never have to forgive a villain, but allow your characters to do so if they choose. In the last airbender, Katara never outright forgave Zuko for the things he did, rather she accepted that he was no longer that person and treated this reformed Zuko as someone new.

I've heard a lot of the time that killing off a villain is a tactic that people argue should not be used for redemption, but I could see how it can work under certain circumstances depending on what the villain has done and if they deserve that fate, or even worse. What are your opinions on this?
I think it should be used if the situation calls for it. If the redemption is solely relying on the villain character dying, then I don't think it should be used. But, if the villain is redeemed beforehand, and the redemption is foreshadowed well, then I think it's okay to have a death scene for that villain. What I mean is, I don't think killing off a villain should be used as a crutch for writing a redemption arc, but if the redemption has already been established, then killing the villain is suitable. I hope that makes sense, and thank you for your question 😊
This is really helpful cause I have a character named Esmerelda who is a villain but becomes good and sides with the protagonist later on but I was always stuck on how I would do that but this gave me some ideas
One of my ideas is that one characters in the main group is there as a spy, but after many events with them, he becomes hesitant to betray the group, however he does so anyways due to believing that he has gone too far deep to change his entire lifestyle without consequences. As well as the fact that he doesn’t want to go against his boss who has been his parental figure for his whole life
The game I'm making is about going through the stages of grief and the villain is to be redeemed. Seeing as how they intertwine it's a really cool coincidence
Another good one =D So far I haven't created any villains who redeemed themselves, but in "My Neighbour is a Parasaurolophus" there will be a character who will go from villain to good guy due to getting betrayed by the series main villain.

I accidentally killed off my protagonist. He turned out to be a pretty terrible guy. Suddenly, all I had left was the planned villain, who was also pretty terrible, but hadn't killed anyone yet, and the world was still threatened by Galactus. Emergency redemption arc initiated.
Oh yes this is the lastest one , anyway midnight do you have any tips for like a final assult arc ? Like lets say the protagonist and crew take the fight to the antagonist and his lackeys
Honestly i got to admit midnight this was another great video that i watched and needless to say great facts too aswell 😄 in a way it does seem like the 7 stages a grief for a character once they realized that they are slowly starting to redeem which is reverse in a way but really does show some intresting character Development! I think Sasuke From naruto is a good one pick out being that he starts off kinda villany (for good reasons cause his village got wiped) and Then slowly reconcile with his past bad actions while also along the way did some good ones that he didnt realize till the very end. Another good one can be Endeavor From my My Hero Academia, Gaara who also redeemed himself and even Scar from FullMetal Alchemist are also great ones too talk about aswell! So its a very intresting topic really and one that does requrie full thinking when going into it 😄 actually i have some characters in Code Sino that actually fall along these lines, Cray, Richard, and Klara. they start off as being villans for a good bit but after there clashes n defeats they start slowly redeeming themselves and starting to get more of the bigger picture without them realizing it till they start too and its a whole pshycolgical too now that i think about it so writing more on it will take some time but still great video 😄 Defently do keep it up my friend 😎👍
