Usually they tell mario in reality he sees she's not there he will ask around usually it's the toads who tell him peach has been kidnapped or mario just hears all the blasts and explosions or he is just already on his way to her castle when the kidnapping has started
i always got the impression the castle is otherwise empty from how silent things are until the fight starts, so seeing peach missing would pretty much confirm bowser's been there i don't really know how much thought was put into it though, it could indeed just be time to take a piss

I've always been a fan of sonic more so then mario, just liked the games more, honestly im not even upset in the slightest about the outcome of the fight, im just impressed with the quality of the animation more then anything.
This animation is fucking incredible. The movements and punches/kicks are fluid and impact full. There's actually a story behind it. And by god do I love how cool it looks
I really like this one. I like it a lot. Sonic is fast and his combos are fast. Mario is slower, but you can feel the power behind each hit. There's something so authentic about it. I will never tire of watching that "No more playing around!" part in particular.
Goes to show that, if Mario is *THAT* powerful, then you can see the seriousness of the threat that Bowser poses...and he's been at it for almost 3 decades. I think a better conclusion to the fight would have been if Sonic verbally acknowledged that Mario was much tougher than he seemed, and Mario helps him back up, and BOTH go to find where Peach was taken (IF Peach was in fact abducted, that is). I really can't jive with a "last man standing/one to rule them all" kind of rivalry when it comes to Mario and Sonic.

That was closer to a Shinryuken imo. A Shin Shoryuken is a blow to the gut prior to the actual Shoryu. In this case it's a fiery version of the Super Jump Punch (You know, Mario's up special from Smash?).

I like coming back to watch this. The attention they have for strength vs. speed is remarkable. Mario’s attacks and hits actually feel powerful while Sonic really feels like he’s incredibly fast. The attention to detail is astounding. Props to the animator(s).

@@floatingf8783 if it had power ups, it would be in Mario’s favor since he has a much much wider variation of powerups. Transformations however I think is when sonic takes the cake. However due to recent games giving Mario a pretty godlike transformation, I’d say it goes either way. Both fighters are still incredible and way more even than most people claim.

Ultimate Sonic95 you see, Mario was always going to win the one minute melee. Sonic one in the death battle and tails beet Luigi in the one minute melee. So just for fairness they made Mario win. Honestly I don't really care though, I think both Mario and sonic are boring characters, I'm just here for sans vs bill cipher.
With Items Mario stomps badly. Mario's RPG world has some broken ass Items like Star Rod, Chaos Hearts, Pure Hearts, and many more. But on base states Sonic is superior. Only thing he outmatched Sonic in is Jump and Strength. Sonic is more durable and fast.
Even though no power ups are really used, the choreography, the different camera shots and especially the absurd sense of speed make this phenomenal. Easily the best animation of this matchup I’ve ever seen.
Thank you for remembering that Mario got the Firebrand from SuperStar Saga and can literally use fire when he needs to. Everyone seems to forget that Mario has fire powers and Luigi(by the Thunderhand) has lightning powers.

Maybe But then you gotta consider the facts of how Baby Peach (First appearing in Mario and Luigi Partners in Time) appearing in Mario Kart E Gad appearing in Super Star Saga and etc. I’d like to think it’s canon, because Paper Mario appeared in (Paper Jam), the star sprites appeared in Paper Mario and also appeared in Mario Party.
I really enjoyed the way Sonic's fighting was animated here. Especially the part at 3:15 where he sends an afterimage decoy to feint mario. That was...really cool.
I love the animation. It's top quality and the shading in the background is really nice. really shows how the castle is empty. Something bad happened. As for the fight i really love how you showed it. custom sprites and animations were gorgeous. This is probably one of the best animations that you've ever made. Another thing that i liked was that mario DOMINATED throughout most of the fight. After seeing other mario characters lose to sonic a few times in the past (including on other shows) This was really nice to see. Thanks for throwing us mario fans a bone. We all appreciate it.
eh. it was a quick blitz. happens often in fighting shows, games, etc. Theres no doubt in my mind that if sonic wasn't knocked out mario would continue stomping.
I must say though. Sonics speed worked against him here. he impacted marios fist at what i assume was his top speed. that'd probably be a crippling blow if it was a normal human. it's also break that humans fist.
This was an amazing animation and you just earned a new sub sir. I also want to add that I am glad Mario won because Sonic was being a huge jerk to him in this one. I mean Sonic basically came into Mario's kingdom, insulted him, and then offered to save the person he likes for him right after telling him he sucks at his job. Honestly... This fight is very unrealistic. Not because Mario won, but because they would be canonically be friends. I don’t know why every Mario Vs Sonic animation needs to portray them as antagonistic rivals to each other. Realistically, how a fight would start would be through a casual, friendly competition.

I really dont like Sonic’s portrayal. Don’t get me wrong, I love the animation, and the start for this one is definitely the best one yet (compared to Death Battle’s lackluster one). However, the way Sonic insults Mario about his job of saving Princess Peach is just really out of character (even for MarioVsSonic 90s rivalry standards). I also don’t like Mario’s aggressiveness towards Sonic. Don’t get me wrong, even I will be annoyed if someone insulted me about my job, but this is just a running theme on the Mario animations department where everyone pretty much just accepted Matpat’s theory on Mario. And I don’t. Like. It.

I've always been a fan of sonic more so then mario, just liked the games more, honestly im not even upset in the slightest about the outcome of the fight, im just impressed with the quality of the animation more then anything.

To be fair, Sonic was *_asking_* to get his ass kicked.
I really like this one. I like it a lot. Sonic is fast and his combos are fast. Mario is slower, but you can feel the power behind each hit. There's something so authentic about it. I will never tire of watching that "No more playing around!" part in particular.
Goes to show that, if Mario is *THAT* powerful, then you can see the seriousness of the threat that Bowser poses...and he's been at it for almost 3 decades.
I think a better conclusion to the fight would have been if Sonic verbally acknowledged that Mario was much tougher than he seemed, and Mario helps him back up, and BOTH go to find where Peach was taken (IF Peach was in fact abducted, that is). I really can't jive with a "last man standing/one to rule them all" kind of rivalry when it comes to Mario and Sonic.

I really enjoyed the way Sonic's fighting was animated here. Especially the part at 3:15 where he sends an afterimage decoy to feint mario. That was...really cool.
He needs to fight more like that in frontiers 2
I love the animation. It's top quality and the shading in the background is really nice. really shows how the castle is empty. Something bad happened. As for the fight i really love how you showed it. custom sprites and animations were gorgeous. This is probably one of the best animations that you've ever made. Another thing that i liked was that mario DOMINATED throughout most of the fight. After seeing other mario characters lose to sonic a few times in the past (including on other shows) This was really nice to see. Thanks for throwing us mario fans a bone. We all appreciate it.

eh. it was a quick blitz. happens often in fighting shows, games, etc. Theres no doubt in my mind that if sonic wasn't knocked out mario would continue stomping.
I must say though. Sonics speed worked against him here. he impacted marios fist at what i assume was his top speed. that'd probably be a crippling blow if it was a normal human. it's also break that humans fist.

This was an amazing animation and you just earned a new sub sir. I also want to add that I am glad Mario won because Sonic was being a huge jerk to him in this one. I mean Sonic basically came into Mario's kingdom, insulted him, and then offered to save the person he likes for him right after telling him he sucks at his job. Honestly... How prideful can you be... Not everyone needs to run at insane speeds to be awesome, and Mario is certainly proof of that.

Holy crap, there are so many details to the fight that show so much passion and creativity with the characters. Like when sonic uses his speed to fake out Mario, it's so subtle but absolutely adds to the value of the fight

As a fan of both franchises I have to say that Sonic insulting Mario is the most accurate way you could have a fight between them begin.
at first i was like "wtf" and then i watched mario and luigi , bowser's inside and i was honestly impressed by mario's fighting skill

This fight is very unrealistic. Not because Mario won, but because they would be canonically be friends. I don’t know why every Mario Vs Sonic animation needs to portray them as antagonistic rivals to each other. Realistically, how a fight would start would be through a casual, friendly competition.
I initially voted for sonic to win when I clicked on the thumbnail, but Sonic deserved what he got you can't go into another man's Castle Roasting the guy and offer to help his wife all in one setting! Beat his Face Mario.

I really dont like Sonic’s portrayal. Don’t get me wrong, I love the animation, and the start for this one is definitely the best one yet (compared to Death Battle’s lackluster one). However, the way Sonic insults Mario about his job of saving Princess Peach is just really out of character (even for MarioVsSonic 90s rivalry standards). I also don’t like Mario’s aggressiveness towards Sonic. Don’t get me wrong, even I will be annoyed if someone insulted me about my job, but this is just a running theme on the Mario animations department where everyone pretty much just accepted Matpat’s theory on Mario. And I don’t. Like. It.
