The Sacred 28 has always been one of my favourite creations from JK Rowling as it highlights the theme of racism and prejudice in the Harry Potter story. That was also it’s purpose in the wizarding world aswel, to show that there are still some families who are proud of their pure blood heritage. In todays video I’m going to fully explain the history of the sacred 28, why some families were left off it and I’ll be looking at each of the 28 families current status today in order to determine if they’d still be eligible to remain on the list over 70 years after its original publication.

This quarantine season is giving us a lot of content.
Didn’t the Malfoy’s have muggle blood in them from a long time ago, when they were heavily involved in muggle politics?
Not related but I don't think Charlie Weasley will marry. He has his dragons 😊
The Sacred 28 were not only pureblood families, but those of very high standing who helped found the British Wizarding Society, probably before the 1900s.
Can you also do a video about why Snape left his Half Blood Prince book even though he knew the dark spells written inside?
Being a pure blood believer isn’t racism wtf they are prejudice against your family lineage not your skin color this is how words lose their meaning
According to Pottermore, Garrick Ollivander is Half-blood.
Hey Harry Potter the character will be 40 at the end of july
If I have existed in the wizarding world, and happened to have been in a pureblood family, I would want my family to be like the Macmillans. Keeping their bloodline 100% pure but never hating muggles, and never pressuring to marry purebloods. It's like that perfect area in the middle.
Have u ever noticed how Burke is on the sacred 28 and Borgin isn’t? I’d think that would upset the Borgin Family...
"Unless Charlie married a pureblood"
Oh look, a lot of these are gone thanks to Voldemort
According to an old Pottermore article on Ollivander, he had one deceased daughter and one living son. There was no name ever listed. He's also stated to have a muggle-born mother.
Do you think that JK Rowling watches these videos and says
I just realized that 28 is a multiple of 7
There is a death eater Selwyn, in deathly hallows Voldemort scream "Your wand; Selwyn, give me your wand" at him to give him his wand just before Harry and Hagrid pass through the magical barrier around Tonk's parent's house.
I think that at one point, the Sacred 28 were all noble houses in a Wizarding monarchy that was either overthrown and replaced by the Ministry or simply died out.
For the Gaunts even if there were still people called gaunt it would have not been up there due to Voldemort’s mom marrying a muggle.
Surprised that Crabbe and Goyle are not included in the list, as they were known death eaters.
The Rosier could still be extant just like the Lestrange family, it is never stated that Evan was the last and as we see in fantastic Beasts there are still some Rosiers we don't know
