Loved your interview guys!!!! I found this video while I was searching for videos of Steven Pressfield. I have read The Warrior Ethos and loved it!! Im really attracted by the Spartan history, society and values, I love it. I have watched this video and it felt like I know you guys from a long time. I agree so much with you. I think a los of the values that the Spartan thaught centuries ago are missing in today society like for example this emasculating society that preaches selfishness and lack of authentic and honest strength. Im studying to be a History Professor here in Uruguay (Latin America) and last week I had to do a class presentation on the Spartans and it felt like home hahaha. Love what you are doing guys and what you are preaching!!! Love the channel, I've just subscribed!! Keep it up my fellow Warriors!!! Take Charge!!!

Love author Steven Pressfield's idea of "resistance." Expect to meet it every morning coming off the blank page you face.

    Great podcast guys, love it.
The things that Steven Pressfield and you (Joe) talk about is also the same ethos that I would like to hold myself up to and am endeavoring towards each and single day.

Great stuff. Steven Pressfield is the greatest. If you are facing a block to "doing your work" buy, steal, or listen to pirated copy of the War of Art by Pressfield. Turn Pro.
Look up the phrase: " a man is entitled to his work". Give it some time and process it. Then go do YOUR work. Forget the money. The money, the muse, the women (or whatever) will come to you once you exude the aura of a man (woman, etc) doing YOUR work.
Thanks to the Spartan crew for getting this out to more people.

Steven seemed to really enjoy the podcast. When the books were brought up Steven seemed like he didn't want to talk about them for fear he could come across as just trying sale shit. As a salesperson I'd say it's bad for sales to be that way but as an individual I like it because it makes him seem all the more genuine to me. 22:05

Love the podcast but I can't seem to understand/agree with Joe's point on having a society where people just eat cellary and water and have to wake up early to train and whatnot. At the end you would only have weak minded people... probably physically tough but weakminded.
I tend to assume that in order to become mentally tough you need to have the inner resistence (so that you are in a position to fight it and thus becoming tougher). If you live in society where there is no choice but to wake up early and train, then you don't ever get to fight your inner resistence (you just do the things you are required to do for fear of what may happen if you don't do it).

Honor has to start from the top down. No point in having honor if you're leaders are dishonorable (not inferring any particular leader).

You're talking about motorcycle road racing. We're not trying to save the world, it isn't about recycling or the ecosystem (whatever that means), it's about overcoming the catastrophic fear of dying because you're just going too fucking fast! But I think you're wrong in thinking that you must fight it, like it's your enemy. You're not going away from something, you're going toward something…….. so fantastic, so mind altering, so life changing. When you say we don't have anything that has a right of passage, a hell you have to go through to get to heaven…..speak for yourself. It's all around. Things you never thought of.

Amazing interview, mostly because of Pressfield. However, I wish I wouldn't have watched the post interview recap. There is nothing more annoying than hearing people who clearly had the opportunity to join the military say, "I missed my chance." Nope. You chose not to join, bro.
