My favorite part in this episode is Zechariah’s Prophecy. At the end of the episode, after he names his son John, he begins to speak. And the words he speaks are verbatim is Luke 1:68-79. The writers have beautifully intertwine such an emotional scene of John’s death and birth together with God’s Word. 😢❤
I went to theaters to watch Season 4. It was the first three episodes the first two week, so it was a long night, but it was good. Time went by so fast. The next two weeks were episodes 4-6, then the final two weeks were 7-8. It was a good time with the Chosen community. This season is full of good moments as well as hardship. Can’t wait for the next one!! Thanks for doing a reaction series to the Chosen.
The man who told Jesus about John’s death was a disciple of John who encountered Jesus earlier. I love the detail of Matthew observing everything when Joanna told them about John’s death because Matthew recorded it in his gospel. Joanna and Andrew’s interaction broke my heart! 😭
The ashes upon his head or a sign of his mourning. I can’t remember if you already said it, But it was traditional in Jewish faith to put ashes upon your head and to tear your garments while you are mourning somebody.

I'm so happy you're back reacting to "The Chosen." Unfortunately, I don't watch the other shows you react to. Abner was John's disciple. This episode broke me 😭. I wasn't able to see it in theaters, but it was so worth the wait. I always love your discussions afterward. .

Did you all also catch what JTB was laughing about when he inquired about the platter? I feel the writers were awesome and so anointed to hint at the fact that JTB found comical that although his physical head was about to be escorted to a banquet upstairs, his spiritual body (in his death) was about to transcend to HEAVEN for the heavenly gathering/banquet to be with GOD forever more!!! What other way could one encourage them self at the point of death by decapitation?! If you remember JTB was the first in the New Testament to refer to CHRIST as the Lamb of GOD, then GOD honors him be allowing him to see a lamb right before he is martyred?! In the words of CHRIST...*Matthew 11:11* Be Blessed in JESUS name!:)
Judas wanted Jesus to be the military leader that he thought the Messiah should be. He didn’t surrender to Jesus to do things the way Jesus wanted. Judas wanted Jesus to do it Judas’ way. He was a fan and not a follower.

I saw all of season 4 in theaters as well I do think episodes 1 & 3 should of been watch separately both very emotional episodes

Abner was the bridegroom from the wedding where Jesus performed his first miracle in Capernaum.
It is Avner, one of John’s disciples, who is bringing the news of John’s death to Jesus in this episode.
