Just know that the devil heard this too and you could come under spiritual attack to try and hinder that relationship... just be prepared and praying scripture is the best weapon we have to defeat the enemy! I was an atheist and heroin junkie until I went to prison in 2017. I was so miserable , then someone left a Bible laying around and something told me to read it . I was in tears after reading . I got saved . The Chosen made the Characters so human and relatable. Love this show so much

the last words Jesus said on the Cross before He dismissed His Spirit... "It is finished". In other words the debt has been paid. The check has been cashed. The Ten Commandments are called the Moral Law. You and I broke the law, Jesus paid the fine. That is what happened on that Cross. He paid it all for us. Because of His finished work on the Cross, you and I can live forever in His presence, not because we're good, but because He's good. This is truly the best news ever... The greatest story ever told. Stop stressing about trying to be good enough, because He did what we couldn't do. Jesus Christ Almighty lived the perfect life that we couldn't live, died the death that we should've died, and did it all just that we, as sinners who rebelled against Him could be with Him in paradise for all of eternity. "Greater love hath no man than this, that he would give his life for his friends." and, " God demonstrated His Love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
The reason we get tears watching this is not just because it's a good story, but we have all experienced Christ's redeeming love and transformation in our lives. Seeing you watch and react to all of this gives me goosebumps because I was where you are years ago, when God pulled me in. The "fun" I had in my old life is nothing compared to the joy and purpose he gives me now. God bless you! I hope to see a video of yours someday where you cry happy tears of salvation. :)

I wasn't 'tearing up', I was sobbing. That was me several years ago. He redeemed me, I am His.
This episode really hits hard. Isaiah 43:1-3 holds so much meaning to me. I've experienced similar trauma as Mary. Seeing how Jesus saved/ held her.. I can't even express, how much it means to me. Jesus saved me from the unbearable pain that I was in! ❤️

I wish I had a dollar for every time I've watched that final scene of episode 1. There is just something about it that is so powerful. No matter how many times I watch it i get choked up and my eyes well up. If you've felt the redeeming love of Jesus then you will have the same reaction. I cannot wait for season 2.

Agreed. I can actually FEEL the power building as Jesus quotes the very words Mary Magdalene quoted all her life but lost faith in. And I can actually FEEL the demons leaving Mary Magdalene when Jesus cups her face in His hands and says "You are Mine." Most perfectly filmed scene I have ever seen!
In the ending, when she called the girl by her name (Mary Magdalene), it was connected to the verse that he said.. "But now thus says the Lord,
he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: 'Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.' "
In that scene Jesus identified Himself when He quoted that line of scripture along with calling Mary by name. What a moment!
In that scene when Jesus called Mary by name I felt so emotional almost to crying 😢 amazing series which shows a very tangible side to the Lord 🙏
I've watched that scene 7 or 8 times now and it is more powerful and moving everytime! Everyone involved with this show is doing such good works for the world 🥰🥰🥰

This is amazing. I am a new Christian, radically saved by the grace of Jesus Christ from the new age movement a little over a month ago. It has been an amazing journey of a lot of up and downs and learning since that moment. I only started watching the chosen a couple days ago, and I can’t even put into words how it makes me feel! This is the best Biblical series I've seen (and I'm 58). The final episode of this season (the beginning of Jesus' ministry) had me in tears! Season 2 will be done soon, BTW.
hey! I'm 58 too! I also love the way they wrote and filmed this show! I love the human side of Jesus.. his compassion in this episode, being shown, and the actors, the camera work, the audio... all beautiful and sometimes haunting.

He calls you just like that, Leonardo. Isaiah 43:1 I believe He is calling you. When Jesus hugged Mary, He wasn't only hugging her in that moment. If you recall when she was sitting at the "bar" and He came up to her, she immediately appeared to be in distress. The demons inside her knew exactly who was beside her and did NOT want to be anywhere near Him. When he placed His hands on her head He made the demons flee and cast them out of her. I really enjoyed watching your reaction and responses! 🙂

@@O-T-7-BTS Yes. God made it a choice for us to *freely* make all on our own. To _choose_ Him. Not for Him to ever force Himself upon us. The whole purpose of creation was that God wanted children of His own, that He can fully *relate* to. Children that had their own separate personalities, yet they had His very Spirit, being a part of Him. This is the process with which we see has happened over the last 6000 years. Adam and Eve were human, made in the image of God, yet they were not literal children of God. This would have to come later, through the process of mans fall into sin, and Jesus (God in flesh) coming to redeem us through His blood sacrifice, death and resurrection. Therefore, anyone who *freely chooses* to accept Jesus into their heart, now they become *born* of God, therefore a literal *child* of God. This is how God planned it all before He even created anything, and that is what I believe. It makes sense. Most of us will agree that we're children of God now (that we're born again) because the scripture plainly bears witness to that, but most people don't realize that this was Gods plan before He even created a single atom to begin with. :) This was not "plan B." It was plan A, all along! :)

Regarding the Scene with Nicodemus and his wife and the blurry mirror - it connects to this verse in I Corinthians 13:12-13
12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.
13 So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
What we see here on earth is blurred compared to what we will see in heaven.
I thought it also connected Colossians 2:17 which speaks of the Jewish festivals and Sabbath day as shadows of what was to come (that is Christ). I believe Hebrew also makes a similar statement in regards to the Leviticus priesthood.

Yes, that verse about the mirror crossed my mind, too when I watched that scene. That was probably intended. There is a lot of intentionality going on, thus, a lot of hidden treasure to find.

Papyrus wasn't just any paper, it was the fine material, on which things would be written that were meant to last. Think of it as being kind of like the difference between the paper that the Constitution or the Declaration of Independence or the Magna Carta was written on, vs a newspaper or a restaurant menu.
In fact, until the printing press, that’s what the Bible was written on. That’s why it was so expensive to print back in the day and why most didn’t own one.
SEASON 2 STARTS THIS SUNDAY! My friend and I were extras on the Sermon on the Mount scene in the last episode of the season. It was filmed near Dallas Texas earlier this year. We had to be at the local football stadium at 6am for a covid test. Then we were bussed to the set. We didn't start filming until after lunch. There was between 2000 and 4000 extras that day. It was very cold and we were all bundled up until filming. Then, we were in our 1 century garb that we provided ouerselves. the ichtus fish was a pagan symbol in the grecco roman world, early christians would use this symbol to communicate and hide their identities as christians because they where being hunted and killed. It could be the ichtus fish, or it could simply be references the "fishers of men" theme
When Christianity was illegal Christians would write an acronym that meant "Jesus Christ is God's son and saviour" which spelled out "ichthys" which is the Greek word for fish. It might have been the Latin word for fish I'm unsure. they would write this to let other Christians who would be there know they had been there.

I've watched both seasons before watching your reaction here. There have been a few scenes that really brought tears to my eyes. However, the scene with the Samaritan woman is the one that rivals the amount of emotion that I got from the final scene in this episode. I'm excited to see your reaction to that, so... Awesome reaction! When you've finished, please check out some of their behind the scenes videos on their TH-cam channel. You'll be in awe of how they pulled off such a quality show on a small budget. Specifically a video tour of the main set. It's so tiny, but they make it feel like a whole city! There's also a video about the CGI they used, one about how they filmed Mary's almost suicide, and one about a young cellist they allowed to be involved. Those have been some of the most interesting behind the scenes for me.

I wanted to point out something that my mother noticed and I did not. Picture the scene where Lilith was standing on the cliff.
The scripture verse that her father wrote down for her , she kept tucked in that beautiful doll. After the failed exorcism by Nicodemus, she ripped that paper up. Standing at the edge of the cliff she threw the paper and it transformed into that dove. That Vision led her to Jesus. And he healed her.

What I was told about my autism, is that people like me are actually really smart because we really study, (something that gets us stumped) & tear it apart. I read books from back to front, then front to back again. Movies and shows like this I have to watch several times. I thought I caught a lot, but L.T. But you really catch stuff I missed. I started drinking when I was 16. I would drink at parties, but I also started drinking alone because I was unhappy, and I was in a lot of emotional pain all the time. My mom was very aggressive when I was younger, and my brother hated her and so did I. He started hanging out with shady people, he started failing all his classes, he was never home, and my parents fought all the time. I also ran away several times. I was always trying to figure out a reason as to why I was here or what the purpose of life was. So, I started looking at different philosophies, religions, and beliefs. When I was 18 after I was hungover, I got on my knees and I prayed for the first time. I asked if God was real that he would show me he was real because I couldn’t take it anymore. I was crying when I prayed for this. At that moment I felt a presence come over me like a wind. It was barely noticeable, but it was unlike anything in my life I had experienced up until that point. I was surprised when I felt it and I remember saying “what was that?” after that experience I pretty much forgot what happened and kept partying, until my senior year when I got arrested. After my arrest, my parents lost all their trust in me and I was expelled from high school. I was told never to come back. At that time, I felt afraid and hopeless. That’s when I started looking for God, and I prayed that he would reveal himself in my life and that he would give me signs. My prayers began getting answered so consistently that I couldn’t deny that God was doing something. It was mysterious and compelling. I ended up in Church and started reading the bible hours a day. I stopped hanging out with all my other friends because they were continually getting arrested. I was able to forgive my family and myself and to ask to be forgiven. I noticed how at Church people were judgmental and how they formed cliques but were afraid to be around anyone else different from them. It increased my faith because I realized Jesus was not like that and ever since I was young, I saw people as people regardless of who they were. After a while, it’s like I could see God's presence was in my life and then it felt like he wasn’t, and then he was, and then he wasn’t. One day I woke up and felt more depressed than I ever have in my entire life. I felt like I was dying on the inside. That night I prayed, and I said, God, I don’t see my life five years from now I'm going to die Jesus save me Lord, please save me. I was weeping when I said it and when I asked him to save me, I felt a presence inside of me like a heartbeat, and I felt it once like a pulse, and I said Lord please save me and I felt it again even stronger. It was like radiance. When I woke up the next morning, I had transformed everything felt brand new like I was a kid again. All my fears and all my racing thoughts everything was gone. I looked at my hands, and I said this can’t be real it’s impossible. When I looked at myself in the mirror, I saw a different person. I started praying, and the holy spirit became entirely real to me it was washing over me and inside of me. It was total love and peace, and I heard a voice but not an audible one, it was an inner voice. It said I am with you; I love you, I will never leave you, it’s done it’s finished. That was May 3rd, 2009, and ever since then I’ve followed God, I have seen many things change and many things I know wouldn’t have changed without faith and belief. I know what it’s like to be lost to feel you have no hope. Don’t ever think you’re stuck, or life can’t change because it can. My mom is a Christian now, Its night and day. Some of the things that went away during that period were severe anxiety and my addiction to alcohol. I’ve seen and experienced so many things that are miraculous and seen how God has worked in my life. When we ask God to forgive us for what we’ve done and turn away from our sins and wrongdoings and we believe in Christ's sacrifice everything changes. His word says if we confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that he died and rose again we will have eternal life but not just life after death but abundant life in the present. Our sins are erased not only past, present, and future but our burdens and fears are lifted also. Our thoughts, our minds, our hearts, our souls are transformed and united with God and we know his spirit lives in us. If you seek, pray, and knock you will know JESUS IS KING!!! HE LIVES!

Thankyou for sharing your story! Can you please pray for my boyfriend, he is struggeling with alcohol like you did...he tries to have a normal handling with alcohol, and most of the time he knows his limits... but sometimes he doesn’t and that leads to very big problems. if somebody offers him a beer or something it‘s realy hard for him to say no, because we live in Germany and it‘s normal for men to drink beer... I see how torn he is, because deep inside he knows that after everything that happend, a normal handling with alcohol is nearly impossible (he was stuck in a verry strong addiction a few years ago), on the other hand he doesn‘t want to accept that he actually should never drink one drop of alcohol again, because that means he would have to tell his friends to not offer him something anymore, and I think he doesn’t feel confident enough to do this... he wants to be the cool guy you know... I know Jesus is the only one who can RELLY make him free. Please pray for him 🙏🏼 thankyou so much!! 💝

I am just seeing your channel for the first time. I have been a fan of The Chosen since day one. I follow the actors, writers, directors, creators, behind the scenes articles and everything related to The Chosen. So far I am loving your reaction. Additionally, I want to thank you for noticing and commenting about the things that most people don’t notice, like cinematography, casting, music, sound and all those things that come together to make this show something truly special. I know that the creator, Dallas Jenkins, would appreciate your comments as he and the writers have put their blood, sweat and tears into creating this show and getting it to us. I hope he has seen your channel and heard your reactions. You really seemed to get and understand many things that go over the heads of most people, basically from not paying close attention.

Jesus came for that exact reason because we didn't/dont see the whole picture clearly and because God is more beautiful AND strange than we can ever comprehend. Nicodemus's heart was like the deep calling unto deep. He
knew the law up and down. But his heart yearned to know the LoRD past that and full on. And that's what Adonai tells us will fulfill us. To long like that to know the Lord.
Watching this episode through your non-Christian eyes and comments made me feel the episode almost more than the first time I watched it. Including tears at the end! (I'm watching from the beginning again while we wait for new episodes to be released!)

You noticed so much more than I did as I watched it the first time. But this presentation of Jesus and His “Chosen” has touched me more deeply than any past attempted video depictions of “Biblical” contents. GOD IS LOVE. And this series displays that fact better than any of the others, for me.
Not sure if people have recommended gospel music to you before but it's Christian music that grew out of the black community. Some good songs are Tasha Cobbs Leonard - Your Spirit, Kirk Franklin - Why we Sing, Yolanda Adams - The Battle is Not Yours, Fred Hammond - No Weapon Formed Shall Prosper, and Marvin Sapp - Never would have Made It. There's hundreds of songs in this genre to discover! :)
Thanks very much for your suggestions. They are so insightful and inspiring as I listened to all of them now. What we also need are traditional hymns. These have staying power whereas those CCM songs come and go, the hymns stay. Some of them are masterpieces that have sung by non-Christian artists as well. Any suggestion that increases the diversity of the music tackled is great. I think we should cover also church music, holy mass in different church traditions, pop songs with great spiritual outlook or focusing on social issues with a Christian angle and how God through the Holy Spirit works in our daily lives.

@@BodaciousBeverly I do know he is a Christian born to Christian parents. He was probably baptized as a Christian as most Mexican babies are. He carries the name of Leonardo a very Christian name, that of Leonardo da Vinci who painted "The Last Supper", the most reproduced religious painting of all time. Leonardo, yeh, the da Vinci one painted "John the Baptist", he painted "the Annunciation" of Mary, also painted ""Virgin of the Rocks" and "Benois Madonna", both portraying The Virgin Mary and the child Jesus. So Leonardo is a very wonderful Christian name that our Leonardo carries with pride. His parents named him so to keep somehow the memory of Leonardo da Vinci going. This is how religions are transferred from generation to generation. We are called Peter, Paul, John, Matthew, Marc, Lucas for a reason right? Because we are Christians and witnessing for all the saints that continued Christianity for almost 2000 years now. Coming back to our Leonardo, our own Leonardo also played guitar in a Catholic church for years for the Holy Mass and for the Christian choir. But did you know that? He has probably been in church more than I've been by many times. So he IS a Christian in my book.

And I'm an art teacher, so you don't need to tell me about who painted what. I'm also a Bible scholar. I know the way to Heaven.

Probably because he knows that he hasn't surrendered his life to Christ yet. You can enjoy Christian media and even go to church and not be a Christian. Hopefully he will someday repent of his sins and confess Jesus as his Lord and Savior.
Or maybe he has but wants to continue with the channel and it’s current direction.......he’s got to figure out what is next and not staying in the past if u know what I mean. It could be due to likes, views, donations and so on..... or he truly could be on the fence. But the truth is rt there in front of him so yeah I have no clue why he hasn’t figured it out yet. lol

Watched this for the first time last Lent. I felt the Holy Spirit throughout the movie. Was crying the whole time. Unusual for a movie to be that powerful beyond the screen. 🙏 Was so thankful i got to see it

ABSOLUTELY STUNNING.... The Director did an amazing job, everything was perfect!! I've watched many interpretations of The Messiah and He has mostly been portrayed as a white man. It caused me to look further into The Messiah's Geneology, which is Hebrew and a dark skinned Nation. I was a christian and came out of her, have learnt and still learning what is truth and what isn't !!! This whole series is brilliant !!!.....Watched the seasons backwards, so I started at Season 3 and now watching Season 1 ....Congratulations Angel Studios your writers have kept it real, truthful and honest !!!
