the reson why soul eater is one of the best manga out there (aside from the art, characters, story, action and music in terms of the anime) is because unlike alot of other manga and manwha, the soul eater characters had so much style and swag. like the way they dressed and acted was like the epitome of cool.
You can apply this for Jojo's Bizzare Adventure as well.

The reason why Soul Eater appealed to teens back in the day is because of the kinda of edgy and gothic art style kinda like how Tim Burton’s A Nightmare Before Christmas art style is.

The artworks in between manga pages in the series are heavily influenced by the Gorillaz. Even Maka's appearance and last name is derived from Damon Albarn (2D); they both have blonde hair and green eyes. Soul even looks like 2D. I remember that stuff being pointed out in my Soul Eater mangas.

When it got to the 'soul cool' part, it was so smooth, kinky, luxurious and it made me shiver in a good way. I always hum this to school and i even bought DTK headphones to listen to this and Kids theme. I still sing this and i memorised it by now. I cried when SE ended. It was just too beautiful.
