Quick note on the mushan scalehide pet - if you are Alliance and can catch it at a time when it's not being murdered for a quest, you can tame Koukou the mushan in Pawdon Glade right off the bat at level 10.
What I have done on my remix MM hunter is to keep starting red cobra serpent pet(which is not available anywhere else in Pandaria that I can find) for the pet's Pathfinding buff, two points in each hunter talent tree Trailblazer and Pathfinding, equip the cogwheel Trailblazer on your boots, they all stack for a very large speed buff. This way you can equip gear and gems that contribute to your DPS and forgo speed stat and still keep up with others in raids and dungeons because the pace is extremely fast. I use pet while questing or long runs between bosses in raids for speed buff, then dismiss pet for the MM Lone Wolf buff when fighting bosses. You nuke every mob so easily I have not needed a tank or spirit beast in remix due to all the damage and shield buffs from tinkers. Thanks for the guide!
thanks - hubby rolled a toon w me for remix and then decided he hated it (which i expected, he's been playing classic since it came out). So I guess I'm soloing a hunter - came with a bird, ok, i need a good tanky pet for solo! but that spirit beast is lovely!
At least you couldn’t ask for a better solo class! Also a big fan of Hutia. Even if you go with the scalehide for a solid front line, that spirit beast makes an amazing companion slot pet just for his looks. Thank you for watching caraziegel7652 and good luck with your solo journey
if you want Hutia and you are having a hard time to cach him i used Concusive shot to slow him down and i just dps him it will take some time becose he heals too.
I'm starting MIX late just started today lol, I'm finding it more fun leveling then in basic retail, I've got the lightning and 3 flowers gem early, and also got that speed one you mentioned, I also got a speed increase that said nullifies fall damage. I've been wondering when I could replace my starter pet with something else .
man ive been all up and down that area for the scale hide and all i see is a bunch of mushan sungraze. no dang scalehide lol. checked the pet lore too. they are different.. oh and crap load of goats
Interesting, I got spirit mend immediately when I tamed Hutia. And then I saw others said the same thing about the abilities coming in later. Not sure what would be causing this but I’m glad the abilities appeared for you at 29.

Am I dumb? I’m lvl 16 like in the video trying to get hutia. Now I had one pet, that I can’t release ofc, but it keeps telling me to dismiss it to tame. Now I read you need to be 39 to tame spirit beasts… but I’m in literally the exact same situation 🤔
Just tamed him @lvl22. Just dismiss your pet, kite him around the stone and counter him once he tries to heal up. At 20% slow him with concussive shot get to max range and tame him easily before he reaches you.
all that NEW REMIX STUFF < doing the saaaaame old quests that annoyed back in original pandaria... for armor/clothes or a mount we can get from the regular game,, IS ANNOYING!!!!

If you tame Hutia at low lvl (10) is so much easier than if you wait 'til you're 70

sungrazes work! The pet family name is scalehide so they will inherit the family skill and the ferocity passive

Nah, best pet is the spirit beast porcupine.
Hutia tamed twice at level 19 and it had no special talents even though growl shows it is

I got hutia, i can summon him but i didn't get the heal ability =/
did the ability ever appear for you? Check the pet spellbook tab and see if it is in there

No, but remix characters are limited to only staying in MoP so you got to get with whatever is best in the region
