      @jakemenard2593 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Exactly!

    • @jonRboy
      @jonRboy ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, but you really can't separate out the parts that you seem to want to be separating. It's the 'inside info' that's the key. You make your decisions on what stocks to buy, and the timing of your trades based on your insider information. There's no influence in and of itself merely of buying, owning and selling stocks, as your first sentence seemed to suggest. So, it's all about and only about the insider info that people in certain govt. positions have that regular investors don't have.

    • @louisepage3842
      @louisepage3842 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your ignorance of how government employees game the system by garnering information only available to them and their cronies is exceptional.

      @@jonRboy Once elected, all politicians and senior department officials should be required to put their investments in a blind trust and have no involvement or communication with the trustee until they are out of office. I believe that would solve the problem. Just my opinion. I forgot to include direct family members as well to avoid the Nancy Pelosi situation.

    • @jonRboy
      @jonRboy ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Yooper2024 I would tend to agree with what you just stated. However, I do think that there needs to be attention given to the difference between individual stocks and Bonds AND investments such as mutual funds and ETFs. The latter group are investments sold in 'groups' so it's not clear how someone could directly game the system. But, I guess those could still be problematic as some ETFs and Mutual funds target certain Industries and market sectors. But even so, I would think that the insider trading abuse potential with these types of investments would still be much less than individual company equity and bond investments.

    I worked for both JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley. I understand ethics and compliance extremely well. If you work for either firm you are forbidden from trading and in some cases in holding stock on the “restricted list”. Period. All trades irrespective have to get prior compliance sign off. A breach of these rules results in instant dismissal and likely loss of deferred compensation. This should apply to ALL government departments full stop. The fact that members of Congress and the Senate are exempt from Insider Dealing Laws beggars belief! Self serving crimminals !

    What you are watching is the energy secretary lying to congress, she would later come back and say she made a "mistake". Note, she is a qualified lawyer, so she knows what perjury is, but she does it anyway.

    Whenever these clowns try to talk about ethics it just cracks me up. Comedy at its best. It’s called insider trading, getting and using information gained from inside knowledge to personally benefit financially. Doesn’t mean you influence the stock, it means you gain financially from purchasing and selling individual stocks. Can’t fix what you refuse to see.

      Great point. Energy Department officials have friends I presume, including some with or for they have worked. If the muckety-mucks tip off their colleagues, it is insider trading, pure and simple... and virtually undetectable. I totally agree with Sen. Hawley. Ban it all, top to bottom.

    We should create a mutual fund that mirrors the stock ownership of Congress and executive branch senior leaders. I’m sure it would do very well.
