The bill does have flaws and the way he speaks he will not budge on language of the bill. No longer trading what you have for more or getting more stock while in office is the right move and should have already been law for people in government and their direct family. If Trump or an already mass share holder in office were made to divest all assets immediately would hurt not only the business but could possibly shut it down and it would hurt the market to. The SEC would prevent the divestment Hawley wants. If the person chooses to sale they can sale, they just cannot buy or trade for others while in office. Hawley's bill won't touch the floor and knows it. He is signalling to the base and trying to earn votes for his re election

Not constitutionally, and If we decided to do so in this instance, it would set a dangerous precedent. If we as individuals voted on things directly, then that would make us a pure democracy. Pure democracy is scary. There a reason it was intentionally avoided by the founding fathers, as means nothing more than mob rule. 51% of people could take away the rights of the 49% - an extremely unnerving thought and seriously dangerous. Our constitutional republic was designed in order to protect individual liberties, and avoid what the Democratic Party so badly wants in this country. Pure democracy. There a reason they say our “democracy” is in danger. They want mob rule and to null the constitution so they could censor and disarm Americans, because they know they’ll never be able to disarm ands control us as long as the constitution stands. Hence their recent push to disparage the founders and shit on our documents.

Interesting the lack of Democrats in this committee meeting... They'll just unanimously vote no.

@@hockeyfan74 Pretty unfair to say just Republicans are getting rich. Quite convenient pretending that Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi didn't became multi millionaires while living on a congressional salary. @@hockeyfan74Both houses of Congress have Locked-In their Two Party System. At 47yrs old, w Bush 1.0 I abandoned Both parties. We all should have.
