In my last video, (you know the one with the cassette) I said that my next upload would be ''Moonwalker'' and I kept my word.
You know Michael Jackson and you know his music and this game is one of the Mega Drive's very best platformers. It was one of the console's earliest entries in beefing up the audio along with ''The Revenge Of Shinobi''. A year later Sonic and a whole range of other game soundtracks were done in this style.
I took a big risk uploading this soundtrack and as I suspected, it has been claimed by over 10 content owners for music composition each claiming chunks of this video. I shall name them all for the viewers so you can see for yourself just how much bullshit we have to endure just to get a harmless video up on TH-cam.

(Most of these are not real and are only trolling to rake in revenue for stuff they have nothing to do with) but if I dispute I could still get in serious trouble from Sony ATV Publishing whom I believe is the only real publishing company listed.
This video is currently free to watch to the public with ads, and it has been automatically monetized by these publishers.

LOL I'm pretty sure Sega included all the sounds MJ needed when they designed the console. This was a release title, wasn't it?
My2CΞnts it was one of the first titles for the Genesis. Releasing after the film in 1990.
sadly Michael Jackson stated that he wasnt very happy with the results.
but tbh i love what they did and the sega genesis sound chip doesnt disapoint at all, heck i own my self a copy of this game for my sega genesis

Sega of Japan did really faithful job with bringing Michael Jackson's song to Mega Drive. Music is just excellent, especially for early title. This is also one of my favorite Mega Drive soundtracks.

I was kinda miffed when I saw this game wasn't included on the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive Classic mini console. I got mine recently, and err... let's just say, it includes this game now.
There were a lot of things that couldn't be included due to licensing nightmares. But yeah, Hakchi or Project Phobos get you covered on that.
I know the SNES had much better sound clarity, but I believe this just would not sound as good on there as it does on the Genesis.
This is how I met Micheal and his music. It may sound weird to you but these are the original songs for me.

Wow I looked all over for a video of this player but couldn't find one! I made a video of me corrupting this game and this happened to be in the related videos list. I remember using that "Program" button so much! Thanks for the music and the music player!
I didn't even know you uploaded this before, but glad I found it now. There are a lot of overly abrasive emulated versions on TH-cam.
+Zane Gandini I'm still waiting for Dustin to record this game's ost, I wanna hear what it sounds like from his modded Genesis model 2. I think the copyrighted music publishing bullshit is what turns him off doing it and I can't blame him.
I asked him about it before and that was the exact answer he gave me. That's why I'm surprised you were even able to keep this up. He said if he does upload it, it's goimg to have to be download only, not on TH-cam.

I think the sega cd was amazing for its time allowing you to listen to the songs its really amazing :D
Despite the Genesis' soundcard limitations compared to other 16-bit systems, I can't see any other console at the time doing a better rendition of these songs than what we see here. Absolutely incredible. Particularly Beat It and Smooth Criminal.
Keep in mind this was in 1990, a year before the SNES came about with it's full music sample capability and FM synthesis was designed to sound as realistic as possible by mimicking real musical instruments through synthesized and sampled sounds and I think it sounds pretty darn realistic. Bass and percussion sound just like live musicians.

Still confuses me why Thriller wasn't used on the zombie level.
It's to do with copyright. Thriller wasn't written by Michael Jackson, Rod Temperton composed Thriller so I guess SEGA decided at the last minute to remove the ''infinging song'' through software revisions, all the other songs in the game were written and composed by Michael Jackson and only he could give permission on the music.

It’s actually in other prints of the game but not others. Most prints don’t have it but sometimes the graveyard stage does have thriller. Problem is there is no way to tell whether you have a copy with thriller or another part of me.
@@tahamohammad8842 My 1990 U.S. launch copy of Moonwalker had the Thriller sound clip when you performed the MJ dance attack in the graveyard stage. Like the copyright infringed Spider-man, Batman, Godzilla, Rambo and Terminator characters appearing in early copies of Revenge of Shinobi. Sega removed the Thriller sound clip shortly thereafter.
The opening of Beat It is jaw droppingly good. In fact I like it better than the real song. Bad is also pretty good but could of been better. Even though I can appreciate the advanced sound effects the SNES can produce, the Bass quality on Genesis is superior.

Not the best example of how to use the Genesis soundchip, but these compositions are still timeless as hell! (And it's pretty good for an early title too)
The main weak point are the main melody lead sounds which sound too "Trumpety" but the rhythms are generally good

These are flawless 16 bit renditions of Michael’s tracks...too bad it doesn’t make up for the whole game being tedious and repetitive.

searched 8 bit Michael Jackson music, found this. Thought it wasn't legit from SEGA, but no. Not sure if I can listen to the original anymore :D This is to good to be true.
