It is very hard to find any information on the 8-bit ports of the Streets Of Rage series, every page or site I look up wants to talk about the superior Mega Drive/Genesis originals and almost nothing else, so i'm gonna do my best to put it in my own words.
Streets Of Rage was faithfully brought to the Sega Master System in 1993 in PAL regions by Sega themselves, seeing as the software was still selling quite well in those areas and so an 8-bit port was developed and released. It uses an entirely new game engine to the inferior Game Gear port but retains the exact same soundtrack but lacks a 2Player option. Streets Of Rage 2 was also ported to the Sega Master System later that year in 1993 in PAL regions but the second game doesn't play or look as good as the first one and is very hard.
The music was made once again from scratch by veteran chip tune gods Yuzo Koshiro and Motohiro Kawashima, but something tends to sound off in several of the music tracks. The bass lines play the same note for far too long and when they do change notes and keys they sometimes play the wrong notes and wrong keys, hard to explain but it tends to sound a little like turning on the Maguro Ristar sound effect in Ristar where the music suddenly plays out of tune or to put it another way, it sounds slightly like ATGAMES at times. Aside from that the music is brilliant!
    NOTES:
    1. Most tracks on here seem to play at the correct tempo at 50Hz so i'm betting that was the correct intended speed. The Game Gear ports play the music too fast even though they were released first.
    2. I arranged the tracks in my own personal running order from fastest to slowest and because of this I kept the same groove pumping for the first 14 tracks straight.
    3. This is the only full and true PAL release of the soundtrack on the internet. It isn't archived anywhere in 50Hz not even on Yuzo Koshiro's own TH-cam channel and no uploader will put it up in 50Hz. I can only find the Streets Of Rage 2 ost in PAL not the first, the first one is always in 60Hz so that's quite disappointing.
    4. I really like Yuzo Koshiro's 8-bit music on Sega's consoles, I think he did a better job on the 8-bit PSG stuff than the 16-bit FM Yamaha stuff.
    5. I put this up on TH-cam for the simple reason that there are no PAL uploads of this much like the Sonic 1 8-bit ost, i'm the only one who has that in 50Hz.

I thought I was missing one but wasn't 100% certain, probably because I recorded it from the Game Gear version which has a sound test and assumed all the tracks were the same.

I played the SMS version of Streets of Rage. Cannot believe how very smooth the gameplay is compare to the MegaDrive version of the first game. I only played it till level 2 on this compare to the MegaDrive version where I have clocked the game on that port. Always loved this game a lot growing up as a teenager. :)

Mega Drive version is king! But the Master System port runs rings around the inferior Game Gear port, but strangely Streets of Rage 2 is better on the Game Gear and worse on the Master system.

The sound of the intro is as good as on Megadrive.
