they had to re-hash this whole thing during the documentary and they've said that it was painful to have to re-live it and get back into what mentality they were in back then. I think he probably shouldn't have used those words but he was probably still in the mindset of getting back into where he was 9 years ago.

Allie tried to interpret it in the best way possible. Would have preferred if she'd dug a little with "What do you mean?" It sounded like he meant because it didn't lead to a physical affair.

@@MsQ275 I definitely sympathize with your point. It was a judgment call and I certainly don’t assume that her motive was “for the likes.” I’m pretty cynical but that’s even too much for me. I wouldn’t have blamed her for NOT posting it, but she may have had reasons I’m not privy to for doing so. I can’t imagine the discussion she would’ve had to have with the wife in deciding not to air it. “Gee, I’m really sorry, but I simply felt like your husband came off really badly and in an untrustworthy way, so I’m not willing to air the interview.” Devastating. But I have a feeling that this woman is going to be devastated in the end, anyway.

I know we are not ones to judge a mans heart. Any marriage can be redeemed by God. But the language this man is using doesnt demonstrate that he understands the gravity of this situation. Instead of using biblical language like, "I sinned against my wife. I sinned against God. I broke our vows." he talks about disapointing ashley madison was for him. "Ashley madison failed me". How badly he needed attention. It seems as if he is still exploiting his wife's deepest pain for his own attention.

Sin takes you places you never plan on going. That is the very nature of sin. If you look at the data on how many people are addicted to pornography it is overwhelming. Calling someone weak for caving to sin is stating the obvious. If he was strong against sin he wouldn’t be sharing the story of his infidelity on Allie Beth. Jesus came for the sick not the healthy. They don’t call it being a slave to sin for nothing. Until you are a slave to Christ it doesn’t matter if you act good or act like a heathen, your lost and enslaved to your flesh.

Here's why I think people are still thinking this guy is hiding something. This is a very hard thing to talk about, especially for public Christians. That being said, they went on Netflix and told their story and are now they're here telling their story. What feels off is that Allie is having to drag the information out of this man and forcefully guide the story and timeline. When he does respond he's vague and mumbling, giving just enough information. He still seems closed off. I turned my volume all the way up, as I'm moving around my kitchen, and I could hear Allie and Nia just fine. When Sam spoke I'd have to move right next to the phone and lean in to hear him. If you're going to tell your story then sit up straight, speak clearly and with purpose and tell it. If it's too difficult then don't do it. But, then it seems odd to do Netflix and a book, if it's too hard to talk about. Nia seemed very open and wanted to share more, but he's still giving off some strange withholding kind of energy. It makes me wonder if there was more to his cheating than he's saying. Which doesn't mean Nia doesn't know about it but maybe they're not telling us. In any case, I agree his presentation and behavior is really off.

now this comment I can back. This makes total sense! He's definitely mumbling and doesn't seem like he wants to talk about it which is weird considering he did Netflix and wrote a book. If you are truly repentant and out of that lifestyle and your marriage is reconciled, you should be proclaiming boldly how you lived in sin in your marriage and how God redeemed you. It seems as if he is still living in shame and condemnation.

It has been really hurtful to her, and even to me, as their daughter who was dragged into the knowledge of the affairs from a young age. She has stayed with him each time. It is exhausting being a support system for someone who is going through that when you are really close to both people, and when the person going through the abuse and neglect continues to stay. As a huge fan of Allie's interviews, my best guess is that Allie heard he was a Christian with a redemptive story. I imagine she didn't realize until interviewing them how everything about him screams, "not repentant!". However, i do wish the producers would have made a judgement call as to not air this.

He loves the chase and it is very intriguing which questions were asked where he had this particular “smile” they have. The eyes…those too. Very telling. The validation this guy is seeking says a lot.
To those commenting saying those of us who are “negative” aren’t remembering Christ’s redemption for us, I’d like to differentiate between knowing this and claiming this truth humbly over our lives and *also* feeling a stirring in our spirit something is not quite right here. These two things can co-exist.
I will be praying for this couple. So so sad. 😢My heart goes out to them.

Adultery should NEVER be called "an affair". It seems to lessen the weight of what actually takes place when vows are broken; both vows between the couple and the Lord & also between the husband and wife themselves.
This is the very reason why David was called "a man after Gods own heart". He acknowledged that he sinned against a holy God as well as acknowledging the consequence of that sin. He was broken, contrite & truly repentant over his sin of adultery & murder. Which unfortunately, does not seem to be the case here.

Very strange when he mentioned that he was most disappointed when he wasn't getting enough contact from women on Ashley Madison? Thought maybe he would discuss the conviction of the holy spirit? His realization that lust is not satisfying? Life as a nurse shouldn't be an excuse to drive someone to chronic infidelity. Very off. I was convicted and humbled by the Lord during this interview. Similarly, I had judgements about this man as I was watching but I also felt empathy towards this couple.
Maybe something is off. Maybe something isn't. Maybe there are hidden things going on. Maybe there's not but I know I cannot judge on mere appearances (John 7:24). That's not righteous judgement. I also know that "For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things" (Romans 2:1). I hope that we're all examining ourselves as we type and cast judgements because even if we've never physically commited adultery. Have you in your heart? Whether their motives are pure or not, do you have pure motives in the decisions you're making right now? We all need the Lord daily to do what only He can do in us and through us by the Spirit He's given us.
Be careful to examine yourself while you're typing in these comment sections because how you speak and treat other brothers and sisters in Christ is how you represent the One True King. That makes me tremble in a beautiful way with so much zeal to represent the Lord well. In my discerning I have to be "gentle towards everyone" (Titus 3:2) and remember how Jesus warned all of us that the measure you use to judge will be measured to you (Matthew 7:2).
Opposing sin is not wrong. Discernment is not wrong but to throw around judgements so causually is really sad to see for the church as a whole. Don't forget that we were all once enemies of God and by the grace of God through faith in Jesus we have been saved from the wrath of God. We have a hope prepared for us too wonderful to even grasp or imagine.
Before you type, pray for these individuals. Pray for their marriage. Pray for their children. Pray for their walk with the Lord. Whether you like them or not doesn't make it a difference. Jesus made it very clear to bless and pray for your enemies (Matthew 5:44). Whether I liked the interview or not, I rejoice that Allie had them on because it is by the Blood of the Lamb and the word of our testomonies that shows the world Christ (Revelations 12:11). I'm preaching to myself too here. May God strengthen all of us to lay down our lives and look more like Him.

My heart hurts for them both. To feel bored only *3 years* into marriage? To be TOLD your spouse is bored with you only *3 years* into marriage? Jezebels claws were (are?) deep in this one. This is one reason I personally advocate for a season of childlessness when you enter the season of marriage. You need to know your other half to such a depth that not 1 look he/she makes goes unnoticed, not 1 sigh goes ignored, not 1 mood dip goes undiscussed. Learn your spouse before you introduce children into the dynamic.
18:57 I cannot hide ANYTHING from my husband: the moment I have a mood dip, he is pulling me in for a hug and asking me what the source is. My husband tells me how he feels if I feel his palms and they are clammy. Like... I really dont understand how she merely had "suspicions of something feeling off" SISTER 😩 Your husband is hiding his phone and you didn't reach for it??
... what i would speculate is, again, they introduced children before they truly knew each other. I cant imagine this type of naivety. Or maybe it was willful ignorance.
