Tungsten Fake Gold Coin - Ping Test

  • Tungsten Plated Gold Coins exist.
    The fake in this video was sold to a Coin Shop near me in a bulk deal.
    Unsuspecting pros can get tricked also.
    People have reported old style maples having very little to no ping.
    They’re rare, but they exist.
    If you have a no ping Maple, I highly suggest adding in some other tests.
    An N52 rare earth magnet would be a great place to start.
    A magnet slides down with an attractive force on Tungsten.
    A magnet slides down pure Gold similar to how it does down Silver.
    It does take some experience to see/feel the difference.
    If you’re not sure, tungsten will also fail a sigma test every time.
    I have read that tungsten fakes can pass the X-ray tests with a thick enough plating.
    In my opinion, if it doesn’t ping, there’s something wrong with it.
    But Gold is Gold, the choice is yours.
    Always use multiple testing methods.

    If you or someone you know would like to test metals with a Pocket Pinger, they’re available at CoinPingTest.com, Amazon, and eBay.
    Disclaimer: All the risks associated with pinching a coin in between your fingers and tapping it are present when using the device. The ping test is used for alloy identification. Always compare the sound of a potential counterfeit with the sound of a known authentic or trusted data base. Any difference in sound is a strong indication that further testing is needed. Always use multiple testing methods.
    The Pocket Pinger has contributed to catching over 100 fake coins, all confirmed.
    If you catch one with yours please reach out. There’s a valuable lesson to share in each story.
    Dozens of Pocket Pinger demo videos can be found on the profile.
    A simple ping test really can save you from a counterfeit situation.
    If you know someone that might like or benefit from this content please share it with them.
    Happy hunting.
    Test your stack.

      This is how I got a few of my silver coins. I heard them in the register when the cashier was grabbing my change. This was back in the 90s and I was just a kid, but I had an ear for it. They weren't worth much more than face value back then, so cashiers happily gave an excited kid the coin in exchange for one of the same face value.

      @SoundMoneyMetals  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Nice eyes! Yeah, the fake in the video was designed to look like the previous generation Maples. I'm thinking these tungsten fakes were part of the reason the radial lines were added. Those lines are beautiful! Good catch there, not everyone saw that

    • @em4703
      @em4703 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The mini-maple was added only in 2013 and radial lines were added starting with 2014. So if you're looking at a maple leaf from 2013 and older, it doesn't automatically means it's fake without these 2 features.

    Tungsten is actually very expensive too. I bought one centimeter by one cube and it costed me like 25 dollars for something that’s as big as a cat treat. Oh yeah and tungsten is my favorite metal. It is the strongest metal and it has the highest melting point.

    • @johnnylego807
      @johnnylego807 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah but not anywhere close to Gold. Not even a fraction of what Gold is. The cube cost u 25$ because of manufacturing fees etc. tungsten is $44.50 a KG, in some places as low as 3$ a lb. Tho 2023 prices are closer too $44.50. For comparison, Gold is $64,824.77 per KG. So it’s not even close to the same value.

    A ceiling fan is a fan mounted on the ceiling of a room or space, usually electrically powered, that uses hub-mounted rotating blades to circulate air. They cool people effectively by increasing air speed. Fans do not reduce air temperature or relative humidity, unlike air-conditioning equipment but create a cooling effect by helping to evaporate sweat and increase heat exchange via convection. Fans add a small amount of heat to the room mainly due to waste heat from the motor, and partially due to friction. Fans use significantly less power than air conditioning as cooling air is thermodynamically expensive. In the winter, fans move warmer air, which naturally rises, back down to occupants. This can affect both thermostat readings and occupants' comfort, thereby improving the energy efficiency of climate control. Many ceiling fan units also double as light fixtures, eliminating the need for separate overhead lights in a room.

      @SoundMoneyMetals  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Nice! Good eyes! The fake in the video was made to mimic one of the Maples. If you google 1990 Gold Maple you’ll see the old style. I’m thinking these tungsten fakes may have been part of the reason for the new design with the radial lines. Hope this helps!

    Does it damage coin?

    • @SoundMoneyMetals
      @SoundMoneyMetals  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Mike, I have this written on the website and in the instruction manual.
      All the risks associated with pinching a coin in between your fingers and tapping it are present when using this device.
      Use At Own Risk - See Bonus Videos for tips - Be Careful
      1. Gold is a very soft metal. Be gentle while pinging. A hard hit with a coin, key, or wood will dent it absolutely.
      2. Beautifully toned coins should be avoided. Careless use and intentional rubbing may remove patina. Never twist, center, or adjust a toned coin while gripped.
      3. Proof surfaces should be avoided. No exceptions.
      4. Even if caps are cleaned and no contact spot is visible, contact was made and can be seen by fogging the coin.
      5. Dusty and oily coins will show a clean spot or smudge where contact was made. This will gently wipe away.
      Does this help??
      If any other questions come up let me know.
