  • TH-cam Video Description: Easy and Affordable Allstar Node with AIOC
    Have you ever wanted to build an Allstar node but thought, "What the heck, man, it's just too dang much?" Well, it's still not the cheapest option in the world, but the All in One Cable (AIOC) now can emulate the CM108 Chip.
    What does this mean? Cheap and Easy Allstar nodes!
    Join me in this detailed tutorial as I guide you through the process of building your own Allstar node. We'll cover everything you need to know:
    Utilizing scripts to update the AIOC to emulate CM108
    Installing Hamvoip
    Configuring Hamvoip
    Finding happiness (inadvertently)
    As a bonus, I'll dive into some of the options within Hamvoip to help you get the most out of your setup.
    Ready to make Allstar nodes easy and affordable? Let’s get started!

    Don't use a rubber duck (stock antenna) on the radio when using the AIOC. It is very prone to RF. Sean, maybe you could make a short video and show what is likely to happen with feedback and lock ups of the system.

      I could. I figured the explanation in the video was good, but watching a 40 minute video to find that info is a bit time consuming. Nice Suggestion!

    I plug them in and I can't get them to be recognized so I can flash them. I got three of them and none of them work. Is there a trick that I'm missing. Even designed a little case for each of them in Fusion 360. You still have some for sale?

    • @HAMRADIODUDE
      @HAMRADIODUDE  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey There! where did you get the AIOC's from? There were a group of guys selling them and they were missing a chip, so they wouldn't work anyway? Otherwise, just to confirm (I am sure you did), you utilized the jumper in place before trying to flash? I Currently am awaiting JLCPCB to fix a database issue so I can get my next batch of 30 in.

      @@HAMRADIODUDE Oh I got them from CaHR. I had someone who solders very small SMD parts install the part for me that was missing on each of them. Were there still issues with that version they got? They explained that I just needed to install that part and everything would be fine.

    • @HAMRADIODUDE

      @@brickerhaus Oh, glad you found someone to do the work, that's a small part. I am uncertain if there are anymore issues with their components or if anyone got them working
      . Sorry to say.

      @@HAMRADIODUDE Can you do me a favor. Can you take a picture of that part (as high res as possible) and share it somewhere. It is the little 8pin square IC. I believe it is a voltage IC. It is the one that is two parts over from pin 1 of the dfu boot pins. I need to do a sanity check. Maybe that part is on backwards. I hope not 🤞. I am in the middle of doing my build video on that and can't go any further. I also tried to order them from JLCPCB and they are missing that part. Probably why it never had it soldered on when I recieved it. Did you contact them directly about this? Is that why you are receiving them late Juneish into July? Sounds like I might need to redesign this for a part substitution. We'll see how well GitHub has an ECO process🤭.

    I'm new to this stuff. It would be nice to have a short dumbed down explanation of what an Alllstar node is at the beginning of the video. That goes for any video with technical stuff.
    That way more people might gain interest in why you are doing and potentially join the fold.

    Great video!! I have a question, once it is in CM108 emulation mode, does the AIOC still have the ability to program a radio or does it need to be reverted back first?

    • @HAMRADIODUDE
      @HAMRADIODUDE  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I am nearly certain it needs to be reverted back at that point. That's a really good point. You bring up that I didn't consider. Thanks

      I went ahead and tried this myself, slow day, and yes I can still use it to program a radio after, at least by using Chirp in windows.
