Have you had any problems with the AIOC having a tail of 3 seconds after letting go of the PTT? Have various people with the problem and we cant figure what it might be?
@@HamRadioDX Duplex 0 on mine but most likely duplex 1 on the other cases. Most of the people having the problem have not touched the rpt.conf so I will have to say the basic settings are still in place and from a look of my rpt it appears all mentions of tail are commented out so I'm sure they have the same settings no tail at all. I even changed the wait times just in case to see if it affected it still nothing.
Hi Hayden. Thanks for the walk through, easy and through as usual For those of us that have not got or can not get a Pi. I take it the procedure is the same for an Intel Nuc/ HP Thin Client or Dell Wyse dumb terminal? Interested in making an Allstar node using one of the dumb terminals I have on hand (above). I get the ISO will be different but I'm guessing the procedure is pretty much the same? Cheers.
Yes and no... the HamVOIP image was built for a Pi, but you can find other tutorials on building using different images on a NUC or PC. Maybe some more info here - wiki.allstarlink.org/wiki/Beginners_Guide#Install_from_ASL_Repository
Damn Hayden. I sent this idea to TO for a nuggets episode. I have it working but need to get a cleaner 5v supply for the Pi as I want to use this mobile and the buck converter I had laying around gives the signal a buzz.. You don't really need to manually edit the simpleusb file. You can do from the menu #12.
In HamVOIP you can use menu #12 - but someone might use a different Allstar "flavour". Yeah the buzz can be a problem - sometimes toroids over the power lead will help too.

Does the Aoic work alongside the Shari Pi being connected at the same time?

so i can use one of my old uv5r's and an aioc and a pi and have allstar node ready to go? no hacking of anything old radios?
Yup!
It is a good idea to disable the second channel on the UV5R. Anything that comes out of the second channel will go out the node.
OOOOOOOOOOOOooooo, I wanna try this.
