I feel like thats the case too. Since Byleth is still known as the Ashen Demon, meaning they never became a professor, perhaps never even meeting Rhea. Plus Byleth's objective is not known here, what if something happened to Jeralt, and Byleth is seeking revenge?

It was confirmed that 3Hopes takes place one year prior to Byleth meeting the lords, and shez dies then, to byleth. The timeline alters when Arval revives/saves Shez

  • @Chibuga

I never thought Byleth was the true bad guy because in the 1st trailer you can hear Sothis talking about taking revenge to soothe your heart, not for someone else's sake. So Shez most definitely is being manipulated.
I also hope they implement Byleth using Divine Pulse in a boss fight. Imagine thinking you are about to win when suddenly Byleth reverts time and can read all of your moves or retake sections of the map you took over previously. Then you had to win by changing up your strategy a lot and making Byleth run out of Divine Pulse.
The one thing I'm wondering a lot about is the 1st trailer talking about the cycle of the world. Maybe it is talking about how manipulating time has a butterfly effect. Maybe Byleth has manipulated time too much in Three houses, and so another diety has come to kill Byleth before the time fluctuations get out of hand and destroy the world through some space/time disaster.

OK, that is genius. Shez being manipulated into taking revenge--if that's what you're saying--is something I didn't think of. Byleth using DP in a boss fight would be amazing. And The Butterfly Effect idea explains the biggest question of all perfectly: What causes the deviation from the canon route, if anything? Because it seems a little unlikely to me to that this is just in an AU without any reason for why it diverges.

    • @Halfbad-bf1lt
      @Halfbad-bf1lt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

I was thinking it might be the other way around; Byleth being manipulated or deceived.
I was thinking that the “revenge” Sothis mentions could be related to Jeralt being killed and the blame being placed on Shez? Possibly the true evil of the game manipulating Byleth causes the divergence and Shez is being set up to fix it?

If they do add a "true endung" or perfect route I'd want to have to work towards it. Something like Fate/Extella where you have to beat all the normal routes in order to unlock that route. If Arval has time powers like sothis that could play in. Or even have Shez timeline hop between routes Radiant Historia style.

Yes, I feel the same way about them as Grima does about Humans, or at least those who refuse to give up on their inane plots and conspiracies!) if that wound up being the case, it'd be even more hilarious cause the Agarthans have become so vile THAT EVEN THEIR CHIEF DEITY HAS DECIDED THAT THEY HAVE CAUSED FAR TOO MUCH DAMAGE TO NOT HAVE THEIR VERY OWN DAY OF RECKONING! The glowing green Tron lines vaguely visible thru the fluid give it away the location. Also, Shambhala is in Leicester territory and Shez is from there according to the game. Rhea and the other survivors still remember and until Shez and Arval come along, they had no proof of any Agarthans or those connected to them who just want the fighting to stop after all) is to hunt them down and bring them to justice. I forget who it was, but I remember in the weeks leading up to the original FE Warriors, some FE youtuber did some speculation on what he thought reclassing would be like and he essentially came up with this where each character would differ in growth and what skills they attain by leveling up. Of course, that's not how it happened. Hell, the "reclass" system in FEW is really just "Spend a master seal to unlock three more combos and gain a stat boost".
I'm very glad it seems like we're getting the reclass system this subseries should have. Like you said, it'll leave room for so many more characters. Maybe even most of, if not the entire roster from 3H. If nothing else, all the students should be easy enough to implement with this system. There were hardly more of them than there were characters in FEW anyway. And that way they could guarantee that we won't get another "where's my favorite lord?" scenario like we did with FEW.
Edit: Looked it up. There's 24 playable students in FE3H and 23 playable characters (excluding DLC which adds and additional 9) in FEW. So I was pretty much spot on

I tried to come up with an alternate demon name (her mother's name is Sitri, tried Lilith but didn't like it; too cliche) but read that Lethe is the personification of Coming Oblivion so it felt *right*

Okay, the fact that you mentioned Shez's armour appears to share an Agarthan aesthetic seriously makes me feel like I'm onto something with my theory, which I posted in the comments of this video: th-cam.com/video/oAdsnqvSIjQ/w-d-xo.html
Here are the pertinent pieces of that comment of mine:
"Considering the previous trailer's emphasis on revenge, and their ambiguous references to the Agarthans and TWSITD (is it intentional that the acronym is so close to TWISTED?) in both, I have a theory that maybe Byleth is, in this story, allied with the Agarthans somehow--maybe in exchange for Jeralt's life? They're already shaking up the 3H timeline and events, and loosely aligning Byleth with TWSITD explains a lot, notwithstanding that that means nothing as to the accuracy of this theory. Let alone how it happened in the first place.
First, Shez v. Byleth: Shez comes across Arval in Shambhala or someplace, gets their souls bound together, and Byleth goes after them.
Second: Explains the line in Trailer 1 where somebody says something about "not letting the cycle of the world end with you"; possibly Arval, since they seem to similar to Sothis and are probably how Shez survives the fight with Byleth.
Third: Explains the utter lack of Byleth overall, and the vague fear mentioned near the end here. Agartha wouldn't just parade their literal crown "jewel" around in the open, but Buleth's too good not to use.
Fourth: Notwithstanding prerelease secrecy, might also explain Rhea and Seteth's absences from things so far. As important as they both are in Fodlan--hence why I doubt they're not in it in some form--their direct involvement in Byleth's story is as much a product of Rhea's interest in Byleth as anything.

Agarthans are really mysterious people. We know from FE3H what they did in the past. But the reason they did it was only told from Rhea's point of view. Also, Sothis was being called the "false goddess" (but I might be forgetting something about that-)... So if Larva is the deity of Agartha, doesn't that mean she was there before Sothis ? Because, the big conflict was between the children of the progenitor god (Sothis) and the humans.
Again, those were Rhea's words. Maybe, with Sothis arrival, the local goddess disappeared and the Agarthans got mad.
This conflict reminds me of the Church vs Science (irl). In the past, the Church denied new ways of performing medicine. The members of the Church were the only people allowed to "invastigate" the human body. Religious people say that God is with them (through there blood and there souls).
In FE3H, Seteth destroyed books about human bodies (and not from the war between Nabatea and Agartha). Rhea gave blood (with the last power of Sothis) to many people. She is the only one who performed "surgery". The power of Sothis are in people's blood.
In other words, "Science" is fighting against "Faith".
Byleth might be an antagonist in Three Hopes, as she will be by Rhea's side (light green hair from her awakening + fighting against the protagonist). It would make sense. She has Sothis' heart. Shez will have Larva (supposedly the goddess of Agartha) on his side.
And I believe that we will get our Golden route, but maybe not with Byleth standing with our lords.
The reason such an ending never existed in FE3H is because the Church was always in the way, like a parasite affecting the fate of the people.
Byleth was the "champion" of the Church. Agartha never had one. So Shez might be the "champion" of humanity.
And his role, with Larva's benediction, and his comrades (our wonderful students !) will be to defeat the Church, and fully free humanity.
In the trailer, Edelgard, Dimitri and Claude clearly fight together at one point. And since there camps are like mercenary camps, they will fight the Church. And let's be honest, that would be badass !
Effin Byleth with Sothis powers (maybe with more powers) + Rhea in her dragon form (who can turn people into dragons as well), THAT is a dangerous duo !
And they ARE strong, seeing how Rhea destroyed the Agarthans in the past and how powerful awakened Byleth is.
Byleth can't be the one to unit the three sides because of her important connection to Rhea and the Church. Aaaaaaaand her problem with feelings. It took her time to start "feeling" things. She always acted before because it was an "order" or her "duty". It was not from her will.

I wouldn’t say the church is what kept the rift between them. Maybe in crimson flower but crimson flower doesn’t match the others. In three houses I think it’s more the agarthans and their manipulation of edelgard keeping the rift there.
The church and Rhea hiding the truth certainly didn’t help, but it’s not the full blame. Plus the lords are set in their ways, all of them and they need someone to help guide them from them. The issue in three houses is that byleth had no true way of guiding all the students and helping them all because they are knocked out and it’s five years into the war already. Byleth has only the influence over the lord who they taught.
Shez has an advantage since Arva is probably an agarthan goddess meaning shez has that influence over lords or a lord and probably has influence with agarthans allowing them to push that influence away or change it to what they want.
Honestly though I think the reason is they three houses never truly had a common enemy to fight. I think if they had a common enemy like in fates revelations then they could put aside differences. But three houses didn’t have that because edelgard was using twistd and the alliance was split on who to side with.

    • @oxo8461
      @oxo8461 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@mwtoZP That is true !
But I am not saying that the Church take all the blame for what happened. It's just... The Church has a great influence of the characters' fate in every route. In the end, they submit to a force that got powerful with "not so holy" ways. The Church of Seiros did manipulate Fodlan, but because it is holy and powerful, it was difficult to go against it.
This always stuck to me. That's why, to me, no matter what ending you get, it was never a good ending. It's either a good ending for the Church, or a "good ending" for humanity. But at what cost ?
When we go down the Church's route, when Rhea loses control, I started to think that the blood she gave to people was like parasite. They lose their humanity and control because of her.
So maybe, the Agarthans saw Sothis and her children like parasites.
Moreover, Rhea hiding the truth and her feelings is what led to the next conflict. Edelgard only knew her ancestor's point of view (so a human one). She got tortured by the Agarthans to awakened her power. But the Agarthans wanted revenge, for their freedom. And in some way, this feeling got passed to Edelgard.
As for Byleth struggle to help because they were knocked out. Well, after seeing the trailer from There Hopes, I think that Shez did something that Byleth didn't.
Byleth is a silent character who goes with the flaw. And when we get to the point when Edelgard steals the crest stones, Byleth follows for the first time their feeling (In general I mean, no matter what route you picked).
The feelings they developed applied to one group of people. They got attached to them but that's it. Even if they feel empathy, they only follow the people they got attached to.
Shez might be the key to unit the three sides. Since they talk and express their feelings.
You might say, "well he fights because of a duty too". That is also true ! But what if Larva saved him after he was killed by Byleth ? If "revenge" is what carry them to go on ? Like the rest of the people who will change the History of Fodlan...
Byleth killing Shez at the beggining might be symbolic. Like a parallel or foreshadowing. Rhea becomes heartless when she fights those who oppose the Church. It's not something you would expect from a Saint.
Heartless "parasites" on Earth that oppose Humanity... That would be cool !
Anyway, I forgot certain things and you reminded me of them in your comment ! But I wrote here my feelings on certain things I didn't write before ^^

If there's a single character presented in FE3H as "good", it's Sothis. She's definitely haughty, but there's also a lot of opportunity over the course of the game for the character to talk to Sothis about what's going on and what she thinks, and Sothis is on the side of protecting the kids and trying to save people 100% of the time. Making Sothis evil would require overturning the presented canon of the game in an absolutely enormous way. It wouldn't go beyond what stories have been known to do, obviously, since there are authors out there who only ask themselves "What's the most shocking thing I could do next?" but that level of change without some serious foreshadowing existing in the original game would just be bad writing. So our options are a) Sothis is actually good, b) they'll present a twist where Sothis is bad but it'll be terrible writing, or c) there actually is foreshadowing in the original game that we're currently missing pointing to Sothis being evil. Anyone who wants to argue for option c should be looking for that foreshadowing.

Even if the wind caller's tome requires the crest of Macuil, Kronya might have taken some of the original Monica's blood to assume her form (we don't really know how TWSITD's disguises work, right?)
From what I understand of the timeline, Shez got beaten and sorta killed by Byleth in 1179, around the same time Monica was kidnapped, then Shez runs into the three house leaders outside of Remire when Three Houses begins a year later. Byleth still becomes a professor, but Shez also joins the academy as a student as an opportunity to get revenge on Byleth. But Byleth becomes a professor after saving the house leaders when they come to Remire for help. If Shez rescues them before they reach Remire, they might end up not meeting Byleth, who then won't become a professor. Shez might agree to join the academy either because Arval pushes them to, or as an opportunity to get stronger or face Byleth on a battlefield in the future as part of the education. Although I could still see Byleth becoming a teacher, the position needs to be filled after all. As a side note, the reason Shez was even in the forest near Ramire is probably because they knew Byleth was there.
As for Monica, I think it's curious that Arval's possession of Shez happens in the same year Monica was abducted. If Monica really did have the crest of Macuil, that could explain why she was targeted in the first place (after all, Flaynn was also targeted and she does have a crest). If Arval is connected to TWSITD, then maybe getting their hands on Shez made it unnecessary to abduct Monica if whatever their goal in abducting people with crests was could also be achieved through Shez.

I think people are looking too deep into the story aspect of this spin off. We have to remember it's a warriors game so they have to figure out how we can play as every character at once so either regardless of what path is chosen all the lords will team up with byleth to defeat the real threat or the paths are separated but you can play as any character they has already been unlocked through playing the other paths making it a fake golden path when you have all the characters unlocked. People should probably be more focus on the gameplay which is the primary focus of this game and be prepared for a subpar story but ill eat my words If this an amazing story.

That almost certainly is Holst fighting Bergliz. Caspar's a brawler who is good with axes with blue hair and that older guy is a War Master with a suspiciously hair color and who has no Crest design visible, unlike Holst who has the Crest of Goneril large on his cape. It would be fitting for this to be the case, since Bergliz is considered a terrifying warrior by Caspar who is placed in charge of Leicester after its conquest in Crimson Flower. The inclusion of both icons is likely for a similar purpose, allowing you to see where the two "Insta-defeat" characters are on the battlefield. This way, if one needs backup, it is easy to see where they are and get help to them quickly.

Maybe the game is something like how you play both protagonists and their stories will just overlap, sort of like Alm and Celica's.

Byleth isn’t a villain, just because Shez is a dumbass and attacked Jeralt’s Mercenaries and got their ass handed to them and is mad about it. And since Byleth likely isn’t going to be a professor the only reason you might fight them at first is that the church hires Jerald’s mercenaries and they’ll be a part of that. That is until Jeralt probably dies, likely by the hands of Shez or someone allied with them and Byleth gains her full power and becomes an active antagonist, seeking the revenge Sothis warned against.
