I don't think the wind speed that they tell us is anywhere near correct - I live in Florida a d went thru Irma... The eye passed directly over us and we NEVER had winds above 70mph - and supposedly the winds were 120mph at that time... I call bullshit.
Even in Dorian the highest REAL recorded winds were under 100mph.
I find it hard to believe that the wind was anything near 180... That's ef4 tornado, and look at footage of the wreckage from a ef4 tornado. It destroys everything - no buildings left at all.
This thing supposedly say in one spot and hit Freeport for over 24 hours. Yet there's still roofs on half the buildings.
Look at the damage from a comparable tornado and it's not even close. The damage we are seeing is because 15 ft of raging water washed across the island.
I don't see much "extreme" wind damage.
180mph is enough to send cars flying and ABSOLUTELY NO BUILDINGS would be able to withstand 24hrs of non stop 180mph wind - with supposed gusts to 220. I say bullshit.
I am open to learning so if anyone can show me a verified wind reading FROM A WIND METER (ANNOMOMETER?) and NOT radar estimates.
I have yet to see anything above 100mph - so I really don't believe the forecasters.

csonkaperdido coconut palms only get completely defoliated in high category 4 and 5 hurricanes that’s 130 to 150 mph judging by the state of those coconut palms the wind speed was definitely higher than 150mph
