Dear Dr Lang, it's intoxication to listen to your reactions and interpretation of your first-time reading of the Qur'an. Al Hamdulillah.

Best explanation of that distinction people often wonder about. “This is not a Deity losing it,” (nor is womanhood blamed for everything in the Quran, Alhumdullilah).
    JazakAllah Khair

Puts it beautifully. May Allah SWT guide us all and give us all the ability to understand the message and stay humble and free of arrogance.

    Dear Jeff
I am also learning, the sajda is not to the knowledge or intellect but sajda is to sprit of Allah infused in Adam.
    Two references from Book.
    15 Al Hijr ayat 29
    38 Sad ayat 72
Forgive me, as english is not my mother tongue.
    Regards

I was debated with non muslims about science in al Quran, and this verse which I used many times.
“Indeed, the worst of living creatures in the sight of Allāh are the deaf and dumb who do not use reason.” 8:22 Big emphasis on "reason".
Thank to this video that now I have wider interpretation.
First humankind created and taught in Heaven. One of the subjects is about independence of taking choice, reasoning. One of the exam is "Eating or not eating". This slip is no big deal. Of all things, Adam and his wife (Eve) destined to inhabit Earth in the first place! Adam afraid and distressed of being had less score. Adam distressed probably because we all know what happened to Iblis. Then Allah himself taught Adam words of how to ask repentance properly.
“Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves. If You do not forgive us and have mercy on us, we will certainly be losers.” (7:23)
    and accepted their forgiveness.
If Allah enraged, He would not taught Adam the words of repentance but kicked out Adam in fury, never taught Adam, never looked at Adam. That word of repentance structures is perfect: Appealing before God, admitting the mistakes, begging for forgiveness, and fearing the consequences. All in one package of very polite words
I prefer to "Descend of the Human Being to Earth" than "Fall of the Human Being to Earth"

What a total recontextualization of the the entire narative. And the idea that God loses it in the Biblical narrative is blasphemous.
