R.i.P. i5. If there were more games in the tests, like cyberpunk 2077, that load the processor, rather than games from 8 years ago, like an assassin, we would see the i5 drop the frame rate to 40, when in the same situation the r7 holds 100 frames)
This Core i5 is also PCI Express 3.0 compatible, and the Ryzen 7 already supports PCI Express 4.0 and 5.0, sure it will have higher bandwidth, but the difference is not enough to change the entire PC platform.
Why are people complaining about the test, this is not compare which one you should get, but if the performance bump is worth upgrading. I am on an old crusty 9600k and i really need to upgrade soon. Might go with AM4 for the budget solution, But maybe selling my old mobo with ddr4 and cpu and going for am5 is smarter, still not sure
imagine purchasing intel platform with z mobo back in 2017 and looking at those who have bought dirt cheap b350/b450 and upgraded their pc with a cpu that outperforms yours in games for like 60-80%
Only major advantage of amd is the power efficiency, which is twice as good as on the older intel model. And even the newest intel processor are a lot less efficient than the newest zen processors.
This is only under load. At low load, Ryzen consumes a little more. But on average, in terms of consumption from the network, I did not notice a big difference between 5700x and 9900k stock.
@@neochannelbenchmark I know that intel got an advantageous idle power consumption but this would still not justify their here presented double power consumption when on load. And im pretty sure that the total system consumption will be around 50w higher on average on the Intel machine than on the ryzen. This dfifference is definetly not insignificant as some might assume. While the ryzne idle power consumption will be at most 5w higher. So as long as you are not just watching videos all day long, ryzen will be a lot more efficient than intel.
To have an exact answer, I need to conduct the same tests with power consumption measurements... I plan to do this someday. It may take more time than I usually spend on tests. And I doubt that this will be interesting to viewers.
actually I was really not expecting myself. Ok 9600k is 5 years old but still it's 6 core on 5Ghz+. I personnally have a 9600k. Thanks to that video, I know a simple 5700x3d is already doing much better, at much lower freq. It's amazing for me.
Thank you for that, I now know (and only now) that my 9600kf is not that "god CPU" I thought it was. I reach easily 5ghz with just 1.26V, and I thought it would be so powerful for everything until 2025+, but as I can see, a ~4Ghz amd3d cpu is killing it. Maybe that cpu cache is the key, but it's still an amazing improvement. Amazing, thank you for that video, I learnt a lot.
I thought that my 9900k OC would cope with RTX 3080Ti 1080p. And it does, but not in all games perfectly. 5700x3D wiggles a little better in games than 9900k
@@MakeYourVision Not twice only 40% more fps average. 6 cores/ 6 threads vs 8 cores/16 threads. Ryzen have 33% more cores and more than twice threads. 33% more cores and only 40% fps gain. Very weak result against old i5.
keep in mind that 9600k is very overclocked... But yes, for a low price, this CPU can still be used for gaming. P.S. But it will depend on the GPU and display resolution.
@@IOIOI10101 nice results against 9600K cause it's only 3080Ti, if include videocards starting from 4070 Ti Super and higher to the test, the gap of 5700x3d will increase even more

These games are in this video Starfield (2023) Baldur's Gate 3 (2023) Counter-strike 2 (2023) Hogwarts Legacy (2023)
these games are hardly old...

At the moment there are no GPUs that support PCI Express 5.0.
But this will increase the speed of NVMe drives. But this is not so important in games.
@@neochannelbenchmark at the "short" moment you must say
8,9 gen i5 and i7 are legends...they cost about 50-80 dollars and run even rtx 4070, much better than ps5. also ryzen 4500 is amazing cpu
In my opinion ryzen 4500 is useless. It is equal or worse than R5 3600. At the same price I would choose 3600

Wow, I was not expecting a 1 year old Ryzen 7 to outperform a 5 year old i5...
that's not the point of this comparison
x3D are very good in games!
But old intel are still good for a reasonable price.

It is surprising how good the I5 is but the 5700x3d has way more stable frametimes compared to the i5
My 9600k worked with ddr4 4200mgz

thx dude
6 Cores 6 Threads VS 8 Cores 16 Threads NICE "test" :D
how about 4 cores beating an i9 :)

Give me this 4 core CPU and I'll do some tests)

This is for people who are thinking about the upgrade. It's not a comparison against a generational peer.
@@AshtonCoolman Okay!
5.2GHz vs 4.0G5Hz !!
@izu 5700x3D is impossible to overclock. 4.05 GHz is the maximum frequency for it.
I was interested to compare the old 9600k with max OC with 5700x3D. This may be useful if someone wants to upgrade their PC from 9600k.
