In the prince's defence, he's tangled in his cloak when Danielle is hitting him with the apples and she almost immediately drops to the floor with her head bowed when he does look at her. They shot that scene really well I think. I can see him maybe putting the voice down to coincidence
Fun fact. In the theater, when Danielle punched her sister, the entire audience cheered. Me included 😁 It definitely shows how well a movie is done when an unplanned reaction comes out. Especially a sold out seating audience. Also, "Yeah!" "Woo!" At the spoiled, selfish cow comment.
Would love to hear more memories you have! I was too young to be taken to the theaters but watched on DVD from home when I was around 11 or 12 and absolutely loved this movie. Still do 17 years later!
The reason he didn’t recognize her when he saw her when she was dressed up as a noblewoman trying to free Maurice, was because during the apple scene, after he got up from being hit by the apple when he fell off of the horse, he was tangled up in his own cloak, and by the time he was able to actually LOOK at her, she had already fallen to her hands and knees and had her head down the entire time that they had their interaction, so he barely got a good look at her face, if not at all. It was not a matter of the logic they had in some films where if you wore a mask that only covered around your eyes, had a little dirt on your face or looked shabby looking or clean or fancy looking that makes you not notice or recognize someone, they filmed the apple scene pretty well to give a good reason why later when he did see her again when she was trying to free Maurice, why he didn’t remember seeing her before
Other comments have stated it, but one of the other reasons the prince doesn't recognize Danielle is bc of her "class". She's dressed as a peasant, he wouldn't have looked too closely at her anyways. & as others have mentioned, they (director/editor) did make a point of showing he had his cape caught on his head & when he whipped it off disoriented, DANIELLE saw HIM & immediately bowed down/not making eye contact (as befits his status). So later when she's dressed as a "Lady", that's the only time he truly LOOKS at her. I liked this bc it ties into the themes of the movie & is part of Henry's character arc. He bitches so much that nobody "sees" the real him, but he's clearly guilty of the same & thru-out the movie he learns to see beyond status & genuinely care for/about all peoples.
I just finished it, your jokes and comments were top tier. I died at "That's my son? Yuck". Thank you so much for reacting to this, it gave me life energy. So good, this reaction was good, you guys are incredible
@@demontrash your reaction was lovely and witty)) please, do Snow White: A Tale of Terror. Unlike this movie it has magic, but it's has more of the medieval Central Europe spirit than other takes on the Snow White. And Sigourney Weaver is amazing as the stepmother!
YES. THANK YOU. YESSSS. I WISHED SO BADLY FOR YOU TO WATCH THIS. You both have made my day, I'm so excited. Thank you so much for listening to the request. Oh my god. My hype is strong
Very interesting to see a reaction to this movie. I remember watching this when it first came out with my younger sister, even to this day this is her fave Cinderella movie and she looooves Drew Barrymore. The guy who played the prince, he was originally suposed to play Wolverine in the Xmen movies but due to reshoots of "Mission Impossible 2" the role went to then unknown actor Hugh Jackman. Jackman went on to have a career that is the envy of Hollywood while this guy...he was the villain in "Taken 3"....yeah 🤣
The WAY I just clicked on the notification that y'all posted a new video !! And it's to Ever After😭😭😭 I love y'all, thank you for everything you do. Your react videos bring so much light & laughter into my life💜✨

YAYYYYYY!!! You heard the people 🤣💕🙌🏻 Thank you for reacting to my favorite Cinderella (also the best one cof cof) You girls are amazing, keep going with the reactions! 💫💕
As someone who is horrible with faces, changing clothes and hairstyle was often enough to throw me off entirely XD I've often joked that the Superman/Clark Kent disguise would actually work on me, that's how bad I am with faces.
When it comes to the prince not recognizing her, it actually makes perfect sense. He's running away, he's been knocked in the head by an apple, fallen off a horse, she went down to the ground the moment she recognized him and kept her head down. But most of all, royalty rarely cares to look servants in the eye anyway. They are "above" them. I know it's a small thing, but it can make sense in this context as to why he wouldn't have recognized her.
This is one of my fave movies of all time. I remember when it was out in theaters... I was spending a lot of that summer with my grandparents who lived in a big city with movie theaters. the tv commercials hyped me up so much to see it... then my parents demanded i come home (to a tiny town where the nearest theater was an hour away by car ...no bus service... so we never got to go to movies) the day before it premiered. I was SO MAD that I had to wait for it to come out on VHS so we could rent it.
If I absolutely HAD to marry a man twice my age, may he at least be well endowed @8:43 👏🏾 I've had a girl crush on Drew Barrymore since before I was born and this is one of my favorite movies of hers. I enjoyed every second of your commentary.
Just discovered you guys from your 10 Things I Hate About You commentary, and I had to comment because the "Do you think Da Vinci strapped NOS to the carriage" joke had me dead. Obsessed with your energy, hope this helps with the algorithm
So; I love this movie and I do think it is the best Cinderella re-telling. However, it always drives me crazy in movies when English speaking actors are playing people from a non-English speaking country and the default is to give everyone English accents. THIS TAKES PLACE IN FRANCE IN THE 1500s!!!! Yet, they all have English accents. Because of this, I always chuckle at the line when the King says that divorce only happens in England. Also, I don't understand how titles work, but Danielle's mother was a Countess and her dad was a wealthy land owner (not sure what his title was, a Duke maybe?), so; how does Danielle end up with peasant status? Do you loose your title if you are orphaned? I know her step-family treat her as a servant, but she does come from noble blood.
The thing that somewhat annoys me with this movie which is totally a 90s thing, is that they pair the semi-thicc girl with a chunky guy... cause fat people only deserve to date other fat people. Their flirting is cute... but it's just an annoying trope. Also creepy pirate dude is no other than Richard O'Brian (RHPS)
I think you guys complain too much for this movie. There’s a big difference in looking very high class and rich & looking like a surfin girl. The prince knew that that was the same girl,. Bills hard to imagine that she was both. Secondly, the directors didn’t put one of the stepsisters up because they claim that she is fat, they wanted the step mother to say she’s not skinny enough, even though she is skinny. And I think the reason why the prince is so hardheaded, a.k.a. a little bit stupid and doesn’t have a lot of visual conclusions, is because it’s so used to royalty that everyone either tells him exactly what’s going on, or he’s very used to people crying in front of him because of his presence
This was a beautiful movie but without the fairy and the magic it just feels like something is missing. Like if you took away the magic from Harry Potter what would be left?

A truly favorite telling of the Cinderella story, for sure.

Me: and that's why this is a fairytale, Henry would have had to renounce his claim to the throne.
The both of you are one of the best reactors and really took the words out of my head in some scenes.
Thank you!!! ❤️
"This is a Da Vinci mam" had me dying 😂
