excellent information and video! our rule is: if it's made or grown in Costa Rica, it is usually very reasonable. all imports are often double from those in the States. you just WANT to live a simpler life here....nature is so gorgeous year round!
I’m coming down in Aug to check out a lot in Tambor beach to buy,but i will also be going to the Central Valley to check for properties to rent and see if it’s the area I want to stay in since its temperatures are not as extreme like it is on the coast. Thanks for your help.
Im about to get certified with a company called Costarica tefl to kearn to teach English. Once i graduate i was told id earn between 900-1200. I was also told this enough to "live on" but not save. no one explains what that means exactly. Is this enough to live on. Is it realistic to get a nice apt for 300.
Hello! Are you from the U.S.? If so, you’ll probably agree that the cost of living varies significantly from state to state. Living in California is quite different from living in Texas. And of course, if you plan to have a local income rather than working online, the cheaper the city, the lower your earnings will likely be. I do not know of any area where you can rent a nice apt for $300... I guess they might exist, but not sure if they will be nice. Are you looking in any particular area?
@@risecostarica Thanks for the reply. So upon graduating I'd move to San Jose or liberia. If I decide to teach online I'd stay in Samara. The school is well connected and has everything figured out but I've never been to CR and want to make sure the income will be enough.
@@jmoney4330 sorry, I am not very familiar with the rentals in Samara. My first thought is that you will not find rentals for $300 in Samara but if the school will help you, the might know better. We are really far away from that area... Sorry I couldn't help! Best wishes!

I am also confused. US citizens have to file US tax returns no matter where you live in the world, that's my understanding. Canadians, on the other hand, if you live outside of Canada, if you do not have income from Canada, you do not need to file Canada tax returns and if you do not have income from Costa Rica, you do not need to pay taxes in Costa Rica. I think he might be referring to income in Costa Rica.
This is really good, David. Similar to the situation in Canada, where wages are low and living expenses went up 25% yoy last 4 years - ty
