These chargers will dominate America like the F40PH once did in the 1980’s. Metro north also has some interests in the the Chargers and might replace the F40PH-3C’s west of the Hudson and the GE P32AC-DM east of the Hudson.
I’ve never seen the F40PH and the railroad Coaster because I live in Puerto Rico and we are planning to move in USA sometime in 2022, but The SC-44 looks pretty good 👍 I mean I never went to California
Jeff Jones I know that Puerto Rico is part of USA but It doesn’t have trains, only between San Juan and Bayamón know as El Tren Urbano. However, many many years ago it existed trains since the inauguration in 1891 until closure in 1957, I want to see trains so bad but just recorded here in USA like 4 times between 2014 - 2018 and 2019because the place where I live. I really want to see many trains! ☹️😞
Jeff Jones I really appreciate your help. But I want the older trains like those GE Genesis locomotives from Amtrak I not sure if they are going to retire, I don’t know if by 2022 they are going to still be active in service despite that replacement of the ALC 42, what are the trains may experience? I will appreciate your answer 😉😉
@@hainescityrailfan9983 I don't think you need to worry. The Genesis series locomotives like the P40 and P42 will be around for awhile. Some Amtrak routes are switching to the SC-44 but most routes will still have the Genesis locomotives.
I really love the SC-44's because even though they are a rather interesting addition to the railroading industry, they have features that keep the railroading heritage alive. For example their horns and strobe lights.
Great video! I have a good feeling that more test runs will be occurring next weekend too because NCTD has announced they'd be closing tracks again next weekend.
As much as I love the charger, it’s really sad to see many train operators removing their f40’s and F59phi’s. They’re my favorite trains of all time. I’m also bummed out coaster is getting new cab cars cuz I love coaster’s cab cars a lot
You know, I just calculated how many Charger locomotives will be built. 202 locomotives. It could soon raise to 212 since brightline is planning to purchase more SCB-40 locomotives once the Orlando route is in operation.
@MarioSonicAviationRailroadFan 123 Except at least another 25 for Amtrak soon, 75 just isn't enough for what they plan for. Then, there would be either 227 or 237 Chargers built.
Im here within the first 10 minutes!!! The paint scheme looks awesome! But the one thing I don't like is that they are replacing the aging legend locomotives, the F40PH and F59PHI. If mike sees this, I hope he sees an ironic coaster charger numbered 2105! Hahaha! Aren't the chargers being used for the northeast and keystone corridors? If any of you see this, have a great day and stay safe for the monstrous pandemic, sending huge hugs to everyone! Love ya! Love the videos, Mike! Keep up the great work!
I’m not against the chargers but it’ll be sad knowing the f40s are gonna be gone so quick. Hopefully one can be preserved? They were the first locomotives I remember seeing as a kid
@@jonathanlevine7412 I don't think that's very likely. Other engines that are on display are either steam or 1st generation diesels. Not enough time has passed for much of the general public to value the f40's as historical even though they are.
I wish they would just make 2105 a NCPU heritage unit for the end of trains. I do not think an F40PH Has ever lot off a career like 2105 has to Mike Armstrong
@e v a n . Why? That would be useless as Coaster is getting CEMs soon, and can rearrange cars for permanent 6 car trains. No need for NPCUs, they already have 2-3 Cab Cars in every consist, some even have all Cab Cars.
A Very Random Person I’m not talking from a usefulness standpoint, I’m talking for a recognizing history standpoint, keeping a single F40PH on their fleet as an NCPU would be pretty neat.
Heh, when the train goes down, the busses have to pick up the slack. (I work on the bus side of NCTD, The Breeze bus line!) I wonder if they will purchase new passenger cars, the Charger livery is a big contrast to the classic livery. Can’t beat the look of the F40, but these Chargers look like a worthwhile locomotive to take over the service that the 2100’s have faithfully trundled along for the past 25 years.
Amazing catch of the SC-44 chargers for the Coaster service! Although I hope to see the older locomotives prior to their retirement. Does anyone know they’ll retire?
What do you think is going to happen to the F40’s and F59PHI after retirement? Are you thinking about buying 2105 if it is in danger of being scrapped?
It was great meeting you Mike! Can't wait for them to be in service
