Thanks again for your videos. 4th time to Hvar & Dalmatino never disappoints- truffle gnocchi, truffle filet, truffle beer - just amazing! Tried Nook in StariGrad for the first time & we are in love.
It's such a cute and scenic place with nice simple food isn't it? So glad you enjoyed it! And thanks for letting us know, it means a lot to us to hear when viewers enjoy our recommendations 😊
Ahh yes. Amazing place there. One of my favourites in Hvar probably. And to add to your wine comment. Croatia is making a strong push for their reds after being known for years to not have very good ones. I personally don't care what anyone says about their red wines, Plavic Mali is fantastic in my opinion. As to their whites, I am not a big fan of white wines in general and Dalmatia is one of the few places where I enjoy them. Thank you so much for tuning my friend and I'm glad you enjoyed Luviji as much as we did. Geoff
@@PureDetour I really enjoyed their red wine. Tasted three bottles while In hvar. 2 out of 3 was suprisingly good! Not a lover of white wine my self. Just Some here and there. Thank you very much for making a video with a good suggestion. Had our last meal In hvar at Luviji yesterday and it was the perfect place to end the trip! With 19.30 table we got the sundown! And lovely atmosphere
Just watched your food tasting in hvar look very tasty Thought Jeff eat one of his fingers while he was eating the taco Looks so good thought I cook me some pasta
Living your videos! I'll be spending the month of Sept in Montenegro and Croatia and love all the ideas. Would love it if you added prices from time to time on the restaurants you visit and possibly how your getting around ie walking, scooter, taxi, etc. Thanks!!
Hi Kevin! Thanks so much!!! You're right, we should share prices more, but we always forget. On average we're finding the restaurant prices here in Dalmatia to be about 500-700 HRK for dinner and 300-400 HRK for lunch (with a drink or two 🤣) We mostly walk everywhere, as the towns are quite small and walkable. On Hvar we took a bus from Hvar town to Stari Grad and it was easy, comfortable and 54 HRK for both of us. To get between islands we'll take the Jadrolinija ferries. Where in Croatia will you be visiting?
I've rented an apartment in Montenegro for the month of Sept and taking 5 days in Dubrovnik and 3 in Split. But will definitely be adding some spots you guys have been to!
@@kevinspassport awesome, wish we had made it to Montenegro. We’ve heard it’s nice! And it’s certainly less expensive than Croatia so your plan is amazing! Enjoy and let us know if you check out any spots. Hope you like them if you do!
you should tryed the food 35 years ago......it was authentic, now it is comercial we used to have a sea food restaurant every 100 meters, now we have Mc Donalds and cevapcici and sea food you have to Google it lol.........for someone of my age it is just sad,,,,,,but still.....I thank you for the return of the memories long forgoten....
HI Robert. I've been coming to Croatia since the early 80's (back when I was a kid) and found the food back then at restaurants kind of boring (maybe because my grandmothers are both excellent traditional Croatian cooks, and that is what I was comparing to.) I'm finding that there are a lot of new and upcoming chefs and restaurants that are re-discovering and reinvigorating the traditional Croatian cuisine. Many of the restauranteurs I met are so proud of their culture, local ingredients and history of their cuisine. Next time you go, let us know. I'd love for you to try some of the places I fell in love with on this trip. Thanks so much for watching 🇭🇷❤️🙏
@@PureDetour dont get me wrong I am an exsecutive chef 35 years in the kitchen,,,,and I love the food,my problem is...if you want to call it that is that a lot of original Croatian recepies are gone from the menu I find it more catering to the paying customer than real Croatian soul food.......P.S. and yes I to started cooking as a kid helping my mother and sister.......happy memories of my childhood
I'd love to hear about some of your favourite dishes from your childhood. My Dalmatian Baka's gnocchi and Pasticada sauce was the comfort food from my childhood. Since she's passed away, I try to make the sauce like hers, and it's very good, but it's not the same as hers.
@@PureDetour this is a truism. Please tell me there is a pastry-edition?! There's these mouthwatering chocolate glazed pieces in the old town if I recall... The holy grail. Hope you're both having fun and keep at it :)
We have met a few and they're always the sweetest people! Check out a channel called Mission See the World, though they are more focused on Instagram rather than TH-cam, but the nicest couple ever
Visited the area 1984 the first time i travelled. With friends as 17 yr Old. Still visiting Kroatia, going in a few weeks for 3 weeks ! Cant wait!
Thanks for watching

We loved Nook too! The owner there really cares about her community, her staff and her customers. I'm also a fan of truffles, could eat everyday 🤣
Thankyou so much for the breakfast recommendation my wife and I really enjoyed it

They typically use cuttlefish rather than squid ink in risotto (rizut).

How does one leave Hvar? Great content!
Thanks Nigel! One leaves Hvar slightly heavier than one entered 🤣
