    You are one tough woman, Eva! I remember once when I was in the Army being in the field when the temp was minus 20F (-29C). At least we had extreme cold weather gear and while it was COLD it wasn't unbearable. I remember one of the officers slept with his canteen in his sleeping bag. It was frozen when we woke up the next morning! I do love freshly fallen snow. It brings a quiet and calm atmosphere with it.

    You two amaze me, Eva and Vilk!. Nature brings peace to your mind. I love your choices of wild adventures. I worked for the Superior National Forest service in the summer of 1989. One of my favorite trails I would work on was the Border Trail between Minnesota, and Ontario, Canada. I loved the nature of it all. The Cedar forest bog land was my favorite places to hike. It felt like I was in an enchanted forest. Take care.

    Hi Eva!
    If you haven't learned, if you forget a sleeping pad, you make your own sleeping pad. You had small bushes and some long grass all around you, you had gathered a pile and laid it out on the ground in that wind and rain shelter. Then on top of this you had erected the tent and then had sleeping mats.
    Then I saw that you are using the sleeping bag incorrectly, because of the cold you should NOT get dressed and crawl into the sleeping bag. Without taking off your clothes, you are only wearing underwear and socks, because the body heat reflects to the inside of the sleeping bag and makes it warmer inside the sleeping bag. If you have slightly wet clothes/socks, put them in the sleeping bag and they will dry off your body heat.

      Well, she has that old guy now as a prop so you won’t see that dog much more. She went out and bought that dog from a breeder for several thousand dollars instead of adopting one out of thousands that need a home and used it as a prop. Now she has a bunch of people following her because of the dog.
      She is a narcissist. And she also fakes a lot of stuff like her supposed Pan American Highway trip which she was never suited for and never intended to go but successfully sold herself as some wild explorer and then was screwing around in the US on AirBnBs and motels and posing herself as a cowgirl and other things.
      Do you know her past history? If you did, you would know a lot about what kind of person she is.
      She dated and married a Swedish guy in her early 20s and while she was engaged to him and after marriage, she was sleeping with multiple guys including her boss in Brussels. She always has been selling the version that she got bored and walked out of her marriage but the truth is, the guy found out six months after the wedding and annulled it.
      There was a friend of her ex-husband who posted a lot of details about her on that sub but they were quick to remove it. I normally wouldn’t lend much credence to what people post on Reddit but this guy posted never seen pictures of her wedding with her ex-husband and he said he is his friend and knew Eva very well. Those pictures can’t be from some rando unless they were at the wedding and took pictures so his story checked out. But it was immediately removed. You might still be able to see that post.
      This old guy she is dating now is purely transactional. The guy has something she wants and she can use him for.

    Hi Eva, a good tip is to get yourself a couple of 'Emergency Blankets' like the ones for car 1st aid kits. They are no bigger or heavier than a packet of cigarettes. You could then either lie on one and cover yourself with the other or use them as an inbetween lining , between the two layers of your tent ( works also in summer to keep the tent cool in the sun) using cloths pegs to keep in place.
    Can't wait for the next episode 😘

    • @Warrior_Resisting_Colonialism
      @Warrior_Resisting_Colonialism หลายเดือนก่อน

      Horrible advice. They will provide you with 0.0% on frozen ground and you NEVER wrap yourself with an emergency blanket, with cloths on. NEVER. They are to be used 100% NAKED. They are not to help you keep you warm. They are made to keep you alive, with you have nothing else. These are the blankets you want in day packs, when you didn't plan on camping but something comes up. They are not to provide aid to sleeping gear. They will not work that way.

    • @Wrong-Way-Round
      @Wrong-Way-Round หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Warrior_Resisting_Colonialism Firstly in my comment I never said anything about what to or not to wear or about wrapping yourself in the blanket.
      Secondly the are called emergency blankets and are part of the Car First Aid Kit that is required in Germany and other countries, primarily to be used to wrap around (not in) to keep injured accident victims warm till the emergency services arrive. You DO NOT strip the injured party before doing so.
      I also never said to put it on frozen ground, Campers allways have a iso mat/air mattress/camp bed under them.
      Please read comments properly before criticising, your welcome.

    When I was around 35, Two adults and a boy scout hiked up the slopes of Mt. Baker, a dormant volcano in the northern Washington Cascade Mountains and we put up our tents and slept on a fairly steep slope. We were cooking a stew when the stew pot fell over, but I put the stew and the snow and the fir needles into the pot and we ate what we had. From certain places on the Island we could see both Baker and Rainier.
      You must be Canadian. The skipper's wife on our boat that I named in 1958, was Canadian and she would visit family in Prince George. And in those days TV was spotty at best. Remembers the christmas lights, forgets the sleeping pad 😅Best thing to do would have been to put he tent on top of those wooden planks and try covering them with the hay or dead shrub branches. Wood is a decent insulator

    An excellent adventure as always. The shelter and the tent together in a storm is always the best solution. The only thing I would have done differently in this situation would have been to use whatever you have to block the wind at the end of the shelter. Even partially blocked would have helped. The pad? who hasn't forgotten gear?

    Great decision to put up your tent in the shelter. Yes! Any food tastes better camping. The more tired and challenging the better anything tastes. You may want to consider a different shaped tent like a dome for more winter camping. Also, a ground mat/cloth/layer for your tent will protect it and you from rocks, sticks and other things that can puncture the floor. Thank you for sharing.

    If you're going to make this winter camping a thing, please invest in a more thermal weather resistant tent for the two of you! That flimsy thing of a tent was more a summer at the beach tent or lakeside kiddy camp. Yes, I would agree..that a 4 season tent, would have better insulation, and wind control. Also, if you could carry and extra 1 lb of weight, a nice plastic tarp could be used on one end of the wooden shelter (as a wind break). In any case, you 'survived' a night in the winter, and deserve our respect. (I've done a little winter camping before...and the right gear can help you sleep better (and survive). ;-).

      Yeah, I don't know this young lady very well, but she seems a bit naive, and it makes me extremely nervous for her safety. Between the lack of personal protection of things like her location and license plate (hence stalkers), etc., and very bad winter camping preparation, I'm very concerned for her safety.

    Good to see you back just enjoying nature, mud on your face and all. Lol.. Embrace the suck! The Samurai lived by a similar code. During the rain or snow: "When doing such things as passing under the eaves of houses, trying to avoid the rain/snow you still get wet.! When you are resolved from the beginning, you will not be perplexed!" The Hagakure" (A samurai book). Good rule to live by imo. Enjoy your time in the wild!. God bless!

      @chrismaverick9828 Please provide proof if I am wrong. German Shepherds have a double-layer coat that offers good protection against cold temperatures. The outer layer is dense and weather-resistant, while the undercoat provides insulation. A 2-year-old German Shepherd with a thick double coat can handle these temperatures easily.

    Cold weather camping is especially rewarding because you get a degree of satisfaction from creating warmth and comfort for yourself that you can't find in warmer scenarios. Even if that's just crawling into a dry sleeping bag with your dog. And embracing the suck all day makes it that much satisfying when you replace the suck with comfort at the end of the day.

    Thank you for the video! One of my best investment for this kind of camping is an extra, light weight, tarp that I bring along, just in case. It has many uses. In this case it could have closed of one of the sides of the shelter; the night would have been quieter. But maybe more important, it could have been used to create a make-shift sleeping pad. There was a lot of dry grass in the shelter. It could have been collected and wrapped into the tarp, making a fairly effective mat. Other uses is as a wind block for a camp fire/kitchen area, water collection, a dry floor for the tent, making a emergency stretcher, emergency shelter, etc.
