Just did mine today with a rented serp belt wrench and just the normal roadside jack. Double and triple checked I had the belt routed correctly and what do you know?? I did it! I’m a newbie car guy so this is big for me lol
I first thought this was the car’s timing belt or chain. Is this extremely important maintenance thing to pay attention to wear and replacing, or is not as big of a deal as a car with a timing belt & interference engine?
whats a interval for timing belt replacement for a 2016 civic lx? do i go by years or miles. its currently at almost 82k miles . from what i see online its 90k miles or 9 years to be on the safe side
when 'Service 2 ' light comes on replace drive belt if necessary ....look for cuts, cracks, missing chunks and other signs of wear ,usually, it's fairly easy to see if the belt is worn out
what is symptoms occur required replace? currently when i start my car under Parking mode without turn on air-con it start make noise in engine bay, when i press fuel (which mean the car move faster, the noise getting noisy)
Mine is showing some cracks in it. When is it absolutely necessary to change this belt? And it's there anything else that should be changed along with it?
Replace PCV valve, trans fluid filter, cabin air filter, engine air filter, clean out your EGR, clean the throttle body, all regular maintenance that i get out of the way when changing belt , aka every 50k-100k miles
In many cases, you generally replace the water pump along with the drive belt. That’s too much of a DIY project for me. My Honda service replaced the water pump, drive belt, and coolant (flush) for $875.
@@AutomotiveDysfunction hey, so I got the exact sane car and I've replaced the idler pulley, crankshaft, waterpump, alternator, and tensioner belt withe the serpentine belt and it makes a loud metal noise or squealing while accelerating and when inspected they said the tensioner had playback back and forth but ice replaced the part already like 3x and still makes the noise while I drive any thoughts on why it still makes the noise?
@@FEARZONE23WAR check noise in alternator… take belt off completely and start and rev a vehicle see if noise is gone or if it is still there then it’s nothing in any pulleys or alternator
@@AutomotiveDysfunction I already replaced the alternator I said it up there and my car has 103000 miles on it and it's had this noise when it was at 85000 milies
@@AutomotiveDysfunction also when I took it to a shop they said the tensioner had play in it and even if they fixed it the noise would be still coming from the alternator, water pump and or power steering but mine is electric

Is it possible to reattach the belt without lifting the car and reach from underneath?
Yes just turn wheel to right and take that plastic off and you might go down on your back to put belt around crank shaft pulley like I did

I did the entire job from the top, yes, you may swear a bit but its possible to do

@@AutomotiveDysfunctionhow many belts Is there for honda 2017
Hello what do you look out for when you need to replace the belt I have my 2018 civic and it’s over 100000 miles already
when 'Service 2 ' light comes on replace drive belt if necessary ....look for cuts, cracks, missing chunks and other signs of wear ,usually, it's fairly easy to see if the belt is worn out
Just replace it, its a cheap part, same with PCV valve… trans fluid filter… cabin air filter… engine air filter
I saw some videos of the guys taking off the tire is that necessary?
No you can see in my video how I did it but I didn’t take wheel off .. but sure you can and remove that plastic cover just to make it easier for you
Where'd you get the long ass boxed end wrench?
what is symptoms occur required replace? currently when i start my car under Parking mode without turn on air-con it start make noise in engine bay, when i press fuel (which mean the car move faster, the noise getting noisy)
Did you tighten it down to a certain torque spec or just until the belt was tight?
just til its tight
Thank you 🙏🏻
✌️
3:07 do you know the name/part number of that splash shield?🙏🙌🏼
@@alfredos.m4377 it’s called splash shield and it’s all one piece part # 8131BO double check your year of the vehicle
I couldn’t do it. Not enough tension relief to get the new belt on
need more leverage on a tool
Mine is showing some cracks in it. When is it absolutely necessary to change this belt? And it's there anything else that should be changed along with it?
Yes change it is you see cracks , that’s about it .. nothing else doesn’t need to be changed (if your not having any noises coming from there )
@@AutomotiveDysfunction awesome man! Thank you!! And I noticed this is a 9th gen Civic. My 2017 Si 2.5L Turbo is a 10th gen... Still the same process?

why the belt i buy is longer.
It’s wrong belt.. either you give them wrong information of your car or they made a mistake at part store
How many miles does this car have?
Over 100k
