That's what I've been thinking for the longest time as well. Kaido wants a challenge. He wants the world changed. And if he can't, then he'll be the last hurdle for the one who will.
What if the reason why Kaido wanted to go to marineford is because he wanted to surpass Whitebeard. If shanks did something so profound as to make Kaido give Up pursuing Whitebeard, in effect giving up trying to be Joyboy, then no wonder Kaido puts him in his Top 5. Plus he's super depressed.
Kaido feels like a kind soul i know he has done bad stuff but i think there is a reason he wants to be the bad guy cause he wanna be defeated by the good one
Kaido in King's flashback always smiles, Kaido now, is depressed and always crying Because he can't be JoyBoy, but in chapter 1036, Kaido's old smile, has reappeared because of Luffy....
I do wonder if Kaidou accepted that he is not joyboy after Oden died, he knew Oden got to laugh tale, he knew Oden knew everything and Oden still implies with his dying breath that Joyboy is coming in 20 years and that Kaidou should get stronger for it. Dude probably accepted his role as the gatekeeper when Oden said that tbh.
I do not think so. At that point, Kaidou was getting in bed with someone like Orochi. I feel like his aspirations of being JoyBoy were long gone by then.
Kaido knows more than we think, and more than he's currently letting on. Him knowing the importance of Joyboy, not just that Joyboy is/was a person, and how Wano is directly tied to the idea of Joyboy is an important detail. When he spoke to Yamato, it made it seem as if he had an important role to fulfill on Wano. Almost as if at some point he learned that he wasn't going to be Joyboy. He couldn't and wouldn't be the man who would end up changing the world. And so he wanted to act out to try and start change himself, not knowing whether or not it would have serious repercussions. A man of high highs and low lows, whose highs consist of him wanting to rage war with the world at any given moment, and whose lows consist of him wanting to end himself at any given moment. It could be that he wanted to end himself because he didn't want to see the visage/appearance of somebody who he had hoped to be. Being the strongest creature alive and still not being the one who could change the world from the tyrannical reign of the WG has got to be soul crushing. That's probably why he's enjoying his current fight so much right now. It will either (in his eyes) hopefully be the end of him, or the birth (in his eyes) of the true Joyboy. What Kaido will do with this information after Luffy wins still has yet to be told. Will he back away and be quiet, allowing Luffy to take the mantle of Joyboy and bring the world to it's dawn? Will he ally himself and his crew with the SH crew in hopes that they could at least have a hand in the overthrowing of the WG? Will it be some 3rd or 4th option? We have yet to find out. And I think that's why this current battle between Kaido and everybody who has challenged him in this raid is one of the most interesting fights in the series. No other fight has been able to give good and solid action, tell a story during it, and give important background information about the world at the same time. We only usually get 1 or 2 of them.
I like to imagine the he won't ally himself to the SH but when they fight the WG, I like to imagine he will interfere with them in some way. Rather it being fighting against them or him causing havoc at G1 or Marine HQ. For clarification when I think of the WG I'm also thinking about them going to save Sabo and all. Even without though, and the SH go and just go after the Marines I can still see Kaido being a pretty damn good distraction. On a side note, can you imagine that Shanks help the SH go against the WG and then Kaido shows up to help Luffy. Like Shanks and Kaido might have beef against each other so they might bicker each other like how Sanji and Zoro does. Say might cuz what if Shanks knows about Joyboy and the void century and all that other fun stuff, so when Shanks fought against Kaido during Marineford Arc, what if they talked about joy boy and Shanks made a bet with Kaido. No idea if Tekking will bring this up or not that if Shanks might also know about Joyboy but, fun idea to think about.
Surprisingly, Kaido knows a lot about the history of One Piece. Imagine how much Dragon knows. He's against the Celestial Dragons for a reason. He knows things too.
Given how important the theme of "freedom" is in One Piece, do you ever think it's weird that stuff like Joyboy and The Will of D seem to be entirely predetermined and undeniable?
I think that kaido may be pulling a Roger here. He figured out he couldn't be Joyboy for one reason or another, probably from out least favorite scabbard mentioning 20 years plus his own knowledge. So Kaido passes on the dream to Yamato which is why he's so focused on making them king of Wano since it has some significance we aren't fully aware of yet.
all of the characters that smile as they die have their will inherited by someone else. The difference is that all members of the will of D seem to have their will inherited, while only a few others get that privilege.
Time line wise, Kaido didn't originally plan to be Joyboy. Like you said, he may have already known about Joyboy by word of mouth, but King was the one in the second flashback who introduced the idea of Kaido possibly BEING Joyboy. His ambitions came from somewhere else to begin with.
Here's an interesting idea I've just thought of considering reviewers commenting that the Beast Pirates are somewhat a dark reflection of the straw hats the connections to the straw hats are not just in aesthetics. But I believe that Kaido has a personal connection to the Straw-Hats in one of their allies If you think back to the Drum Island arc Dr. Kurhea was like a duck to water when raising Chopper as her adoptive son what if given Dr. Kurhea's knowledge of the Will of D and Gold Roger she was the elderly crone that raised Kaido as boy
The ocean king name might make sense because of the carp that turned into a dragon that folk tale it would metaphorically make sense because most of kaido’s life he was always under a person’s crew now he is a dragon who has his own crew now
There is also the Azure Dragon King, a sea god who appears in Journey to the West. Sun Wukong (Son Goku in Japanese), aka the *Monkey King* beats his army of animal soldiers and steals a powerful weapon from him. A bunch of people have already pointed out the parallels between Sun Wukong and Luffy and old legends and literature are a theme in Wano. Notably though the Azure Dragon King actually reappears later in the story as an ally of sorts to the Monkey King.
Kaido is attempting, though horrible means, to start a global war. This goal is remarkably similar to the prophecy about Joyboy “throwing the gauntlet down” against the whole world, as stated by Whitebeard, and “turning the world upside down,” as stated by Roger. Joyboy is meant to destroy the current world to usher in the dawn. Perhaps Kaido has his mind set on the war part, but doesn’t care for the “dawn,” as it has been alluded to.
I wonder if Kaidou found out that he isn't Joyboy and now he lives in denial. A bit like Whitebeard stating to Teach "It's not you Teach, you're not the man that Roger is waiting for", who knows maybe it was Whitebeard, after the Rocks crew was disbanned, that told Kaidou that he wasn't Joyboy. They were yonko for a long time together. Also Whitebeard knew about the Will off D. because Roger told him.
I love how Tekking talked about kaido (joyboy) being raised by a mountain witch and not seeing the parallel to Dadan and luffy who is maybe joyboy himself
It would be funny if the Mythos of Joyboy was that a D. has to visit a Winter Island that in this case would be Drum/Sakura Kingdom( the Winter island where Chopper comes from) while you are under 40 years old Kaido who never heard of that Island and was above that age realized he could never be Joyboy (and as such we have Scotch saying to X Drake that a Winter Island is Kaido's Favourite Island) and this leads to the possibility that Luffy or Blackbeard or Ace would be the next Joyboy since they all fulfilled the requisit of visiting Drum before reaching 40 years old and also why Kureha knows so much about the D. Clan.
When Kaido planned on taking down Wano he did so knowing Joy Boy was supposed to free Wano as part of the prophecy. Basically he knew he wasn't Joy Boy and wanted to beat up any other contenders. When Luffy beats Kaido he may well recognize Luffy = JB and become a sort of ally who will leave Wano but support Luffy versus the WG.
Hmmm, hearing the Kintarō bit got me thinking, especially since I'm rereading wano again, how there's so many parallels to Luffy. (Via the wikipedia for Kintarō)- Raised by a mountain witch, parent is a dragon, heavily associated with the color red, friendly with animals, ridiculously strong, popular in Kabuki theater, is associated with boy's day (5/5, Luffy's bday), etc. Also, Luffy's straddling of the koi at the waterfall is reminiscent of a print of Kintarō battling namazu. Also Luffy is given the suffix -tarō in want, so maybe Joyboy is analogous to Kintarō, and applying the legends of Kintarō to Luffy's backstory gives more credence to Luffy being Joyboy. PS: note how since arriving in want, Luffy has been nigh always smiling or grinning? Literally joyous after coming to want, vowing to bring joy to the solemn country
That would be really homosexual as he's up against Luffy and is teaming with big mom, who both want to kill him, also letting him go would be pretty redundant for them to be saved twice from 2 yonko crews without beating either of them is a bit sus.
People don't realise that the final act of a story does not have to be the final fight. In my head canon, Kaidi is defeated this act, but the real climax is a huge info dump act 4 where we explore his backstory and reasons, find his poneglyph and just post war Wano with opening questions and stuff, and the last act is CP0 and the world government chasing the strawhats away as usual it will be a little, back and forth for Nico Robin but there is always a chance that Momo turns into ancient weapon repels them and Kaido, not dead or caught decides to protect Wano from the government coming back, because no mater how bad he gets beat, what happens to Kaido post wano.
The reason he abandoned the Joy Boy pursuit could've also have something to do with the mother of Yamato, which could also tie back to why he resents humanity.
I don't know if this has been mentioned somewhere or given that much light, but if Roger realized he was early for he supposed prophecy and Rayleigh know this, too, then the 2 years training he suggested to Luffy was planned to make sure Luffy is in the New world and on the road (or waters) to Laugh Tale.
Imagine shanks convo with kaido was about luffy and how luffy is joyboy and to wait for him in Wano and he was upset when he lost twice, hence so you couldn’t be JoyBoy either
for once, you were close tekkking. oda might go with the route of kaido being the potential joyboy (as stated by king) but he mess up along the way to become joyboy, hence kai = shell , D, O= King, shell of the king!
also i was drunk when i saw this and commented about it, then i`ll say keep up the D&D it is incredibly fun and wholesome to watch you huys are great and thank you for keeping me company sort of , in these difficult times and not to forget, HAPPY NEW JEARS AND BEST WISHES!!!!
When you think about it, it shows how Yamato is really like kaido. Kaido believed he was joy boy like how Yamato believes he’s oden. Only difference is Kaidos belief was crushed, so perhaps he’s projecting on Yamato because she reminds him of his past self.
in regards to Kaido's backstory into the Japanese myth of Kintaro I believe that Kaido was raised by Orochi's elderly relative Higurashi which is why shogun was able to form a pact with Kaido as Orochi and Kaido are family.
All members of Rock's crew decided to create crews with different races, but they had different reasons and ways. I believe Kaido new of Joy boy from Rocks, and he went out there to fulfill what his captain couldn't.
Interesting video as always @tekking101. Also I've been thinking about something, What if artificial devil fruits, not the smiles, were originally made to allow one person to consume more than two. Of course, the theory isn't fully fledged
Shanks might be trying to bring about Luffy as Joyboy and is scared that Blackbeard would become it. He might even try or have tried something bad to keep Luffy on that track. Maybe he stopped Kaido from coming to Marineford, not because Kaido was going to kill Whitebeard, but because he wanted to help him. And that alliance would have let Ace live, which Shanks didnt want because it was a bit too early and he had already bet on Luffy.
@@SMILE-do9dw yea but Roger did share his dream with Whitebeard + what the Will of D actually is. Whitebeard would know better than anyone else what his dream was
@@zagzig3734 Saying that Roger wanted something doesnt mean it will happen. The fact that there are bad futures in the SBS means that there is a potential Blackbeard=pirate king future
Gol D Roger did not turn himself in because he knew he was going to die soon. He wanted that message out because he knew that someone in the next generation had to be Joy Boy. I think the last ponegliph will talk about Joy Boy issuing the ancient weapons not to destroy the work but to free/bring it together. Roger must have known Poseidon wasn’t available, making him there too early. He knew he had to inspire the next generation because he knew one of them would be on time.
this falls in line with the truth of the will of D. i believe D = dreams or dreamers. the will of D scares the WG because though the dreamer may die, he/she is charasmatic enough to pass on that dream to future generations where that dream will live on until one person fulfills it. this may be why Roger made his declaration - he was passing on his will to the next gen so that the dream would live on.
The official translation has Kaido saying "you think im Joyboy?!" Implying that its King that thinks of Kaido as that and not himself. King being a Lunarian most likely told Kaido of the legend as he then replies "legends are just legend". Also still need Big Mom to go down from Kidd and Law so would need time to focus on that too.
Yamato had Odin's Logbook; Which means Kaido (might have) read it as well. THUS learning (post-Oden boil) that Rodger "was too early, we are all too early as the Mermaid Princess to save isn't even born yet." and thus knew that HE was not JoyBoy. (but Rodger was his Era's Joyboy)
Shanks is the real Gate Keeper, he gave Luffy the hat, the fruit and protected him without any reason. Kaido and Big Mom want the PK title, Whitebeard wanted family but Shanks doesn’t want the Pirate King title yet built the strongest crew in the Grandline and seats with 5 Elders why? thats cause Shanks job is to guard JoyBoy, a promise he made to Roger before his death👀
The sea kings in the Roger flashback were saying that "the 2 kings hadn't been born yet", which I presume refers to Poseidon and Joy Boy (Shirahoshi and Luffy).
That was close Tekking. Great job! Try to remember this example for later. This is an old anime かむいのけん or Dagger of Kamui. Sometimes the first kanji determines which group the latter ones belongs to or it can be an adjective. The の(no) is omitted in names. It's not Ocean King, it's King of the Ocean (Sea). It's a very fitting name. He's a yonko, one of the 4 emperors of the pirates that roam the sea and King of the Sea. 🐉
If Luffy beats Kaido, I'd love it if the Red Hair pirates repelled the WG and Shanks offered Luffy a friendly Davy Back fight to take it back from him.
One thing I know for sure members of D are the strongest. Roger, Xebec, Garp, Dragon, Luffy, Law & Blackbeard. Surprised Kaido didn't realize something about them.
I was practically the first person to say this way over 5 years ago. Big Mom and Kaido and not villains. The world government is. Kaido and Big Mom will both be CRUSHED brutally by a new government threat we are not aware of yet. I said this 5 years ago and I'm saying it now more confident than ever.
also, i just like hearing this guy talk and be himself, it really helps to bring me to normality and just imagine the one piece universe with someone as cool as tekking101
What if Kaido is a pseudonym he chose because he wanted to be joy boy so bad and kaido isn’t even his name. He also said to king that he should change his name to king so his not against the idea of it.
Hi tekking! You probably heard this before but I just wanna say thank you for the content I love one piece and this works like a podcast that I can listen to in the background when I’m at work. Also, talk more about Garp my fav character 🤣
You sure are hopeful about Wano wrapping up within just a few months Mr. Tekking. Even if Acts 4 and 5 are 10-20 chapters each, they will still be extremely faced paced compared to Acts 1-3.
I like the gate-keeper Kai D. O theory. He wanted to be joyboy at one stage or thought he was... His comment to Luffy being "you aren't joyboy either" is sure loaded.
Well what if one of the qualifications of being Joyboy is being pure of heart and never to have killed. Perhaps Kaido as a child killed someone or something accidentally and was treated as a monster (the reason why he tells Yamato no one will ever accept her as she is just a monster). So he became somewhat of a monster. Then when out in the wild he met someone who told him the story of Joyboy who he thought was himself (perhaps told in a way that Joyboy is a rebel/outlaw [will of D] and will turn the world upside down or something vague like that) until much later where he finds out Joyboy has to be pure of heart with no kills. Which would still fit for Luffy.
@tekking101 could you open a Spotify account or something and just pump in the audio files of almost all your videos - your videos are awesome and I've been watching for years, but my schedule is getting fuller and I would love to be ale to listen to you talk about one piece while doing other stuff too- sorry for the big ask, I saw someone bring up the idea and evversince then it's been rattling in my head
The first time Kaidou met Oden was in chapter 971 in volume 96, and it was 25 years ago, and we saw Kaidou in human form clashing with Oden in 2 panels only and he didn't have his mustache, so the timeline is still consistent. In the anime though, he did have the mustache, but it's best to take the manga as canon on that regarding facial features. 23 years ago was the maximum that we saw him have the mustache, but we don't know when he grew it.
@Tekking101 hey been a longtime fan! Seeing this video kinda made me think how much I’d love to watch a video where you retell something of these older Japanese myths or folktales. If you’re ever looking for an idea for a series in between your major vid drops I think it’d be a hit!
In regards to the legend about the laughtale the way Rodger explained it to white beard and Oden was tho he only realized there was another island after reaching loadstar and then realizing that the red ponoglyphs were a map and not government artifacts point being it seemed like only Rodger and the higher up in the world government might have knew about it but no one else
Kaido read Oden's journal where oden states that he has to open wano to welcome joyboy. Also, he heard the sea king speaking that joyboy will be born soon. Hence kaido lost all hope of being Joyboy...
I wouldn´t say gatekeeper to Joyboy but Gatekeeper of Laughtale (like Big Mom, The Minks and possibly Shanks). He is also holding the gates of Wano from opening to the World. Kaido´s whole goal of creating The World Greatest War is to force the appearance of Joyboy. This goal is the manifestation of his sorrow and regret he isn´t Joyboy and why he wants to die because he can´t change the world. He believes Joyboy will kill him. Just like Oden, he is waiting for Joyboy in Wano. So here is how he learned of Joyboy and the importance of being in Wano: 1- He learned about it through his adventures in Rocks Crew and when he met Vegapunk during his captivity that led to the cloning of his fruit. 2- During Marineford, Shanks and Kaido met. They had a drinking contest and Shanks told him this: "There´s this kid who wears a straw hat and he reminds of my capitain...He will come for you in the future, so just sit tight in Wano and he will give you the fight of your life". This also ressonated with Kaido due to Oden´s dialogue to him of Joyboy coming to Wano in 20 years time. 3-When he knocked out Luffy for the first time he was cold sweating with Luffy´s conqueror´s haki oozing out when he was unconscious. This to me is the thing that started making Kaido believe Luffy was a Joyboy candidate.
What if Kaido found out where Roger went after he became KotP on the island with Rouge. What if Rodger confirmed to Kaido that "It ain't you chief." And he left because he was so distraught and didn't bother fighting. Because the navy found out that Roger was there, but it was never explained how they found out. He probably "let slip" to the navy about it the next time he was captured to draw away navy so he could escape
When u talked about Kintaro all i could think was Dadan is the witch in the mountains and luffy the golden child. And it would also make sense time wise since the yamato era came first. And Yamato is older than luffy
Looking at his face he really does have a strong resemblance to Gol D. Roger, especially that picture at 0:22. I have begun to side with the idea that he is part of the far flung D clan, and just the other day I was talking with a friend and we both kind of came to the same conclusion. He is searching for the one who will become the "Joy Boy" of the current era. He tested Oden's resolve, but he didn't fully measure up. Momonosuke was much the same even though he still has potential down the line, Luffy however has the best potential to be that next Joy Boy. We also discussed that Kaido seems to be more and more taking a liking to Luffy as the continue to fight, and that at the end Kaido will stand down from the fight realizing he has finally found the next "Joy Boy" and one of two things will happen: 1. CP0 straight mercs Kaido right then and there. Just full cold blood. And then they do the same to the weakened Big Mom. We both agreed there is a fundamental misunderstanding of the Pirate world and where the Navy stands in terms of power. The admirals are not weaker than the Yonko. Akainu took several full power hits from Whitebeard and was still able to get up. We can talk about how much weaker WB was at the end, but the man was still considered the strongest being on the planet by basically everyone. You can't NOT be at nearly the same power level or slightly above if you hope to take those hits and come out just bleeding a bit from your mouth. Also time skip Kizaru straight up tells Akainu he can just pop on out of HQ and singlehandedly handle the growing situation between Kaido and Big Mom teaming up. Kizaru, by himself, says he can go handle the situation solo. A situation that literally the entire world is left shaking in their boots over, and a single admiral is like: Yeah, no dif I will go catch some Yonko bodies brb bro won't be like a minute or two cause LIGHTSPEED. Akainu only stops him because of Wano and its unknown level of strength. Granted they all know who Oden was, and when that is your primary example of a strong Wano Samurai you tend to believe that the country might have people on par with Yonko and Admirals casually strolling about so it won't just be Kizaru vs two Yonko and their crews. Where am I going with this? The Admirals keep the Yonko around because they had the Road Poneglyphs, and so long as they have those and are at eachothers throats no other pirate can get to Laughtale and neither can they. Next the Yonko keep the pirates under control and vast swaths of the world in check, the Supernovas can never really be a concern so long as there is a hard ceiling to their growth in the form of the Yonko who will force them to play by the rules. And lastly there is not much of a reason to go after one another. When the Navy and the Yonko are on equal footing in power, why challenge any of them? Its like how the US and Russia tolerate each other, both are capable of annihilating the other but that battle would be cataclysmic. If you can hold the peace without a direct fight you do it, until the Yonko are at the point that taking their heads is feasible and low risk. These last fights in Wano and their outcome seem like the best times for the Navy to wipe out two more Yonko before Blackbeard can do the job himself. 2. Luffy manages to beat Kaido and he finally dies, marking the first villain that Luffy has actually put in the ground. Though I expect it wouldn't be Luffy killing him outright, but the fact that Kaido's mission is completed in finding the next Joy Boy has passed and he can finally let go.
Ok there is no way that I’m the first person to think of this but when Tekking said that Kaido is a gatekeeper to test those who might have the qualities of Joyboy it got me thinking. Now what if the Road Poneglyphs, Laughtale and the One Piece are just one massive test to determine who takes the title of Joyboy. Now all Road Poneglyphs we’ve seen are all in the New World(if you count Fishman Island as part of the New World). Ok let’s first think about where 3 of the Road Poneglyphs were placed. Wano, Zuneisha, and Fishman Island (we don’t know if Big Mom’s was originally in Totland or if she found it and brought it there). First let’s look at Fishman Island which is the halfway point of the Grand Line, getting there requires a certain degree of strength and resourcefulness whether that be in fighting off enemies or overcoming the 70% failure rate of coated ships trying to reach Fishman Island. And lastly being able to befriend the Fishman and Merfolk enough so that they would let you see it or even tell you about it. Next is Wano a powerful and isolated country of samurai. Being even further into the New World reaching and surviving in Wano would further test the strength of Joyboy but that isn’t all I think Wano’s isolation was a test set up 800 years ago that has been long forgotten. And this isolation is meant to test Joyboy’s ability to change the world. If Joyboy can’t even change the views of 1 country how could he possibly change the world (specifically the WG). Then there is Zou a country on top of the roaming elephant Zuneisha. getting there could possibly test Joyboy’s luck because that could potentially be something the previous Joyboy lacked and that led to his defeat or like the previous 2 tests it could require him to befriend a mink/minks in order to lead him there since all minks instinctively know the direction of Zuneisha. The Minks, fishmen/merfolk, and samurai were all implied to be Allies with Joyboy during the Void Century so part of the overall test was to reform Joyboy’s original alliance. Now there is a glaring hole in this theory is that the sea kings and Madam Sharley spoke of a prophecy about Shirahoshi and the next Joyboy and they were certain that an 800 year old plan would come to fruition during Luffy’s lifetime. Well I don’t have an answer for that since there is still so much we don’t know like whether the next Joyboy is a reincarnation or if it’s just a title. But something I thought that could give further validity to this theory is the WG. How in 800 years have they never found Laughtale? it’s simple, they never needed to aside from the complete history there is nothing of note there. If Laughtale really is just the finale of a test to determine the next Joyboy then it also helps the WG. Even if they rounded up all the Road Poneglyphs that wouldn’t change the fact that given enough time someone else will be born with the qualities of Joyboy so if anything this test gives them potential targets as well as time to prepare if it isn’t possible to outright kill them.
18:46 , actually yes you can. Might require a little skill but you can mess with games to get dates or other aspects changed. As a programmer, I did it a lot.
Hey Tekking! Quick comment, has anyone ever told you that you kinda look like Arthur from the sword in the stone movie?? 🤣 no offense! I love that movie. I watched it last night and thought “man….. Tekking would be perfect for a live action of this”
I was watching one second when tekking was talking about kidao gate keeping got distracted by something in the other room and came back to him screaming "mustaches are the key to the one piece" and that might be the hardest I've ever laughed at one of these videos!
I'm saying this before watching the rest of the video BUT WHAT IFFFF kaido's beard is actually like that Uchiha hair-lenght-theory but in his case, he only shaves his 'Stache when he's defeated? Cuz he had big stache before/at God's Valley but when he met King he had smol boi stache 👀
Hi tekking did you see the video that artur came out with about what the one piece is? I thought about his theory when you were mentioning what the roger pirates found on laugh tale
That's what I've been thinking for the longest time as well. Kaido wants a challenge. He wants the world changed. And if he can't, then he'll be the last hurdle for the one who will.
⁰⁰⁰00⁰⁰⁰⁰g
I agree because kaido knows if u can defeat him then u surely have the power to change the world.
Plus he's super depressed.
he probably a joyboy candidate before but failed. doesnt necessarily mean hes a gate keeper. theres no way hes a gatekeeper
Kaido is not “always crying”

Kaido wasn't the name he was born with, Rocks gave him that name similar to how Kaido renamed King
That's a good one!
Not true
Kaidos name can also be read as "ocean guide" and include the ō for king as well
Given how important the theme of "freedom" is in One Piece, do you ever think it's weird that stuff like Joyboy and The Will of D seem to be entirely predetermined and undeniable?
No, I don't.
Oda better pull something really good with the joyboy stuff, predetermined destiny is never a good thing in a shounen

@@PhileasLiebmann Well azure is a blue color and the way Kaido is presented with color may not be farfetched.
You know, I've been thinking this for a while, but Kaido is basically an old school Demon Lord.
You forgot the part where kaido achieves his glorious death by holding off the wg while Joy boy and his crew escape wano to go after robin.
I could see this happening him knowing the world will be changed
That would be really homosexual as he's up against Luffy and is teaming with big mom, who both want to kill him, also letting him go would be pretty redundant for them to be saved twice from 2 yonko crews without beating either of them is a bit sus.

Never change, Tekking, your longer videos are great for my after work smoke sesh.

Kaido does know the history, hes got vendetta against the “worse generation”
but did he before they started messing with his stuff??
I don't know if this has been mentioned somewhere or given that much light, but if Roger realized he was early for he supposed prophecy and Rayleigh know this, too, then the 2 years training he suggested to Luffy was planned to make sure Luffy is in the New world and on the road (or waters) to Laugh Tale.

The の(no) is omitted in
names. It's not Ocean King, it's King of the Ocean (Sea). It's a very fitting name. He's a yonko, one of the 4 emperors of the pirates
that roam the sea and King of the Sea.
It is my personal headcanon that Tekking has always wanted to have a baking channel on the side. Like a once a month post kind of channel.
Maybe the joy boy prophecy include him fighting a dragon to liberate wano and knowing that kaido is playing his roll
Kaidou is also the name of the song Aokiji sang in Film Z and that translated to Ocean Guide.

I like the gate-keeper Kai D. O theory. He wanted to be joyboy at one stage or thought he was... His comment to Luffy being "you aren't joyboy either" is sure loaded.
kintaro sounds like luffy, old witch is the bandit woman, and he lived in the forest with sabotaging and ace but they left after a bit.

Kaido is a descendant from Joyboy who was Oars the First
Kaido read Oden's journal where oden states that he has to open wano to welcome joyboy.
So here is how he learned of Joyboy and the importance of being in Wano:
1- He learned about it through his adventures in Rocks Crew and when he met Vegapunk during his captivity that led to the cloning of his fruit.
2- During Marineford, Shanks and Kaido met. They had a drinking contest and Shanks told him this:
"There´s this kid who wears a straw hat and he reminds of my capitain...He will come for you in the future, so just sit tight in Wano and he will give you the fight of your life".
Laughtale probably contains the Rio Poneglyph which bears the story of the void century according to Nico Robin when she was working with Crocodile.
We also discussed that Kaido seems to be more and more taking a liking to Luffy as the continue to fight, and that at the end Kaido will stand down from the fight realizing he has finally found the next "Joy Boy" and one of two things will happen:
Tekking video notif in 20 mins... Am I a op fanboy now??? I started watching anime in 2021...👀👀
Ok there is no way that I’m the first person to think of this but when Tekking said that Kaido is a gatekeeper to test those who might have the qualities of Joyboy it got me thinking.
Seems legit. Did u come up with that on the spot? *Surprised Pikachu face*
