    My friends there move out because too expensive to the outer cities in comunidad de Madrid! I used to lived there in the 70's so much expensive now, visit every year last was this past june and back in december 2024. Of course, if compare with those European cities it will look cheaper but salaries are too. Compare ins and outs, net results to see the real difference. Cheers

      Rents are indeed increasing, but so is the average salary in Spain. I'm not saying with this that the situation is easy for locals. I totally agree that the situation is delicate and there should be more public policies to help citizens with rentals... but Madrid is still a very demanded place for expats, and there are good reasons for it

      In this video I try to cover the most important aspecs of the cost of living, not only rent. Maybe rent is higher than other cities (although it's still lower than in many other cities), but when you take an overall view, Madrid is quite an affordable capital city.

      Do you know Spanish? If so, you can read this interesting article about Managers'salaries in Spain.
      About the one room apartment rent, it will vary a lot depending on the neighborhood, the size, and other services and facilities available. You can find apartments from 500€ to 1500€/month. Hope this helps. Any further questions, don't hesitate to ask us via email

      That statement is true in so many places... Actually Madrid has similar "Price to Income Ratio" to cities like Berlin, Vienna, Oslo or Tokio. And I'm saying similar "Price to Income Ratio", so the income differences have been taken in consideration.

      @@katyedyakova2103 Sorry? Clearly you don't live in Spain. Even being a high skilled professional you don't earn enough well to live good even without luxury. You can find Data Analyst, coders, developers, etc in Madrid and Barcelona earning between €1400-€2000/month BEFORE taxes paying rents of €800-€1400. Isn't enough to afford a good life there. The same goes for the "sons" of Spain like Mexico. High skilled bilingual engineers and doctors with years of experience at Mexico earn around $10,000-$20,000/month pesos before taxes which is €388.85-€971.32, a total misery. That's why spanish professionals run away to Northern Europe and mexican ones come to Europe or move to Canada or USA.

    Hello, sorry to bother you, I want to ask you, Is the villa complex fee in Spain is very cheap? A stupid guy told me that villa complex monthly fee with main pool facility, garden, parking lot, garbage system and security (we located close to the beach in Bali, so I assumed that the place he talked also close to the beach) in Spain is only around 800,000 idr (around 50 Euro) per month? And he also said that the water bill is also cheaper in Spain than in Bali as well, is that true? Complex water bill in Bali is around 1 euro per m3.

    • @livinginmadridspain
      @livinginmadridspain  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello @nathaliatan and thanks for your comment! I would say that those prices are not realistic. First of all, if the villa is only yours, you will not have to pay any monthly fee, obviously, but you will have to take care of the pool maintainence and your private security system (if you want it). In that case, you will only have to pay garbage tax, which is usually very cheap.
      But if you're talking about a villa inside a complex with community services (communal pool, maybe a gym or padel court, and things like that) the monthly fee for all community services is around 100€ on average, but that is only an average. It will depend on the level of luxury you look for it can be from 80 to 200 or more.
      As for water, the average in Spain is around 1,91 €/m3 on average, but once again, it will depend on the province, being those near the sea more expensive. I will leave you a link (in Spanish) about prices. So it is still quite affordable, but not as much as you said, nop.

It would make no sense to compare Madrid to Teruel or Brighton. So my focus is not a trap at all. If you have always lived in Spain and you compare Madrid to other Spanish cities, of course it is more expensive. But that's not the kind of people we're trying to reach. International buyers want to be able to compare Madrid with their main references in their countries. And that is NYC or LA in USA, not Minneapolis...
