@@joewilson3575 Yes well you can’t deny the 42nd (Black watch) role in the highlands by stopping separatists. Ps what is manbar because it’s sounds slightly strange
@@matthewhinchliffe2334 Certainly the blackwatch were loyalists, but the song doesn't celebrate that at all, its not political and the only mention of war in the song is really decrying it because the girls in the field are hoping their men have got home safe. The whole song is at most a song of kinship of the regiment and is more about a sort of ideal life of the country, bonny lasses and being a canny lad.
This is both incorrect, and logically wrong. The British Empire did not have nearly enough resources and men in their army to throw entire regiments away as "cannon fodder", and they did not.
My aunts brother was in the 42 black watch if he was still alive I'm sure he whould have loved this song

Rule Britannia, Long Live the Union even though it's Dreich we'll pull through
@@xzliam Good to hear- we all belong together, especially at this time of threats from within !
Scott's
Not even really a patriotic song, more a song of scotch pride and the hope for peace and notably: not going to war.
Yes, a song about preserving the glorious union is really not a patriotic song. Sounds logical
@@matthewhinchliffe2334 Its not about that at all if you listen to the words.

@@joewilson3575 Well I suppose there’s different interpretations. But what is manbar
Cannon fodder - that is how the Scots regiments were seen by the British.
Says you
Really, show me your evidence?? Your clearly not military minded.

Utterly ridiculous
Outright false, the black watch is regarded to this day as one of the core battalions of the British army
