    "These buggers are hell to get out". I dont think I have ever found ANYTHING on my hay equipment that wasnt hell to get out. With the possible exception of gearbox lube on my rake, which comes out when I DONT want it to...

    Thanks for sharing! that was some interesting stuff there kinda shows me a idea how to change them out but hopefully that never needs to happen..lol but inerways yeah sometimes it's not a good thing to get them too close, cuz I always heard them baler blades only needs to be about 2 to 3 papers width a part without touching each other blades. But inerways good video.👍 sir.

    For what its worth, Ive had the same luck trying to straighten any and all high carbon blades esp cold, and if you heat them up to bend, wont hold an edge. Always try though, then buy a new one. Really enjoy your videos, nice to have like minded "make the junk work" attitude productions.

      Thanks for watching. With the winter setting in and year end stuff at work... I haven't had alot of time to make videos. But I do have some new "quality junk" I picked up to get working, so new content soon!😊

    It seemed like the stationary knife was protruding into the bale chamber past the rail. That’s probably the reason why the two blades clashed even with no shims behind. Check the rail for wear before putting the new blade on

      Watch all the vids. Rust and loose bolts are the issue. Only way for thdm to hit is if they protrude into the chamber. New clean blades, polished the rust off all good. 😁

      @@DuchesnesCorner well, yes and no. If the stationary knife doesn’t protrude but the side to side play is out of spec, they might clash too. Blue loctite was the answer to my prayers when I went through my baler

      The plumger knife was bent from god knows whrn which was the reason it was given to me. Couple new plunger bearings and the lower guide adjustment tweeked and she ran like a dream.

      @@DuchesnesCorner still baling with it? Amazing. Actually it gives me some hope: I got a new to me BC5050 and the previous owner didn’t do much maintenance to it. Hope to get it running reliably in a few weeks. Where did you source the plunger bearings from?

      I have (had) 2 both the same year. Sold one early spring but still have the other going strong. They will live forever. Lol

    On today's episode of 'how to break the baler'. Too bad though, it was looking promising there for a minute.

      Work has been busy and straw is starting, but I will be back on the baler soon!

    I am in the process of repaireng an NH281 Plunger at the moment with exectly the same bearing seased. The rest of the bearings/wheels are so so. Some are noicy and some are stiff. They are all adjustable. Does any body know where to get the exact instructions how to do the adjustments? I live in Victoria Australia so I have a few months before hay season (usually november).

    • @DuchesnesCorner
      @DuchesnesCorner  ปีที่แล้ว

      My adjustment was to measure the chamber and then set all bearings so the plunger was theoretically 1/4 narrower. I then adjusted the side thrust bearings till the plunger and stationary knife were the thickness of a sheet of paper apart. Been going strong for 4 years no issue.
