Nice JGCL ZJ! This is just the video I was looking for. I personally would have enjoyed the videography so much more without the music. For me, it was distracting. I wish I could hear your dialogue and explanations more clearly. But, overall, its a big help in seeing the lift installed and tested on your vehicle. Thanks for your effort. Enjoy!
Hey bro forget the short arm lift haters, long arm lifts are bad ass but if you put drop brackets on yours you'll be near long arm flex. It's how I did mine and what a difference, massive! Plus I just added 2 more inches of lift up to 6 comfortably retaining great daily driving on 33's. My wife even loves driving it everydayand she didn't think she'd be able to drive it anymore when I started building it. But you will need much longer shocks/brake lines. Best $250 decision ever, I love flex and am now totally happy with my short arm til I've got an extra 4g's, I'm in no hurry for a long arm now. Hope this helps.
clint jones sure bro. Ok so you can get the whole front and rear full zj drop bracket kit from Rocky Road Outfitters for under 3, or if you just want the front you can get a drop bracket kit for an xj (exactly the same and bolts right in) from a place called 4wheel parts for around 2 but I highly recommend the full kit, it's pretty awesome.
Got a 93 Zj, I wana do the 3.5 with some 31’s, keep it my daily driver but let peeps know I don’t play around. The mountains in my area are plenty to explore, public roads are just as bad as the trails up here
Any amount more than 2inch lift, go with the longarm & adjustable trackbars, in spite of people saying short arm is fine just use drop bracket,,,will admit yes it will work,,but, ride quality, amount of flex&articulation, strength, its all better with longarm, after having riden in many jeeps of numerous variations, current jeep 98zj progression was 31s, then 2inch spacers for clearance, was enough that adjustable trackbars needed, when control arm bushings needed replaced was when got rough country 4inch longarm kit, such a vast improvement in all aspects,
Great vid I have a 95 grand Cherokee laredo with the 4.0L I I bought it with a 4inch lift had drive line vibration and had to put a transfer case drop kit
Hi Buddy I have the exact same GC (obviously not as clean) and you convinced me. I’ll go for the same exact setup Can you list all the extra parts that were necessary with that kit? Tyres are 33x12.5R15 correct ? Thanks for your reply
I have one just like yours. White 94 Limited. 3 1/2" lift with 32's. Don't think I'll go any farther right now. It goes where I want to go here in Arizona..
Nice review. I've got a ZJ 5.9 that I'm planning on lifting 4-4.5 in. I've got the 33's already and just need to replace some worn parts and new rims. On that note have you had any steering issues or death wobble with this lift?
Went thru learning process, 2inch spring spacers, then had to add adjustable trackbars, then the "stock length" adjustable control arms as seen in this video,,,, by time was done would recommend going straight to longarm conversion which comes with 4inch springs, shocks, arms, mounts, adjustable trackbars, ,,, I used rough country
Did you happen to test out your flex with the stock suspension? I think you would have found you had just as much flex if not more, just not the ground clearance obviously
1. Did you have to replace the front drive shaft ??? 2. did the Alignment help ??? 3. Does the OD keep going in and out of OD ??? 4. did you do the lift at Home and if not can it be done without a car lift ???
no. yes, and it made everything better. no, depends on how you drive it though(i have a soft foot on the road). yes, i did the lift at home in my shed(you will need 1ton jack, and 4 jack stands).
Legacy Loco slight trim to the inside of the front bumper will be necessary, but I’m getting a new metal bumper with a winch, so it should give it more room
JustTOughLOvE yes, i was limited with the video to 15 min. I have changed my settings on my account so now I can upload longer videos. I will make another with that information
That's a case by case thing, depends on end result, do your lift and try it with what you have, many different opinions out here, I measure before & after, because I abuse it,check u-joints while driveshaft is out, I carry spares, sidenote, always had a vibration couldn't find, even after replacing with new driveshaft, grenaded a wheel joint and because of when and where happened & parts availability at the time, and needed fixed, it's my daily, ended up throwing in a cv shaft instead of another wheel joint style shaft, front axle has been so smooth ever since
i have the same zj 94 5.2 im saving for a 7inch ironrockoffroad long arm kit with mickey thomspon baja mt 37s check out my jeep ig @jeeplifejesus then save up for regear and axle swap

clint jones sure thing, anytime.
I have a 1995 ZJ with the 318 and she has a 7 in lift and she is smooth as butter.
Got a 93 Zj, I wana do the 3.5 with some 31’s, keep it my daily driver but let peeps know I don’t play around. The mountains in my area are plenty to explore, public roads are just as bad as the trails up here
Zj life, damn yours is clean
Like the Jeep and the background music. Two thumbs up

I just done the same lift on my 96... Did the tranfer case drop kit take care of the vibration
Hi Buddy
I have the exact same GC (obviously not as clean) and you convinced me.
I’ll go for the same exact setup

Thanks for your reply
No steering issues with the rough country 2.2 steering stabilizer.
pro tip : watch series at Flixzone. Been using it for watching lots of of movies lately.
@Kyrie Shiloh definitely, have been using Flixzone for since december myself =)
@Kyrie Shiloh yup, I have been watching on Flixzone for since november myself :D
No
Probably covered it in the video maybe I missed it but how big is your lift?
Needs to work on sound and drop the music
Is this the first ZJ build video?
Any issue with the front driveshaft hitting the trans crossmember? You have the same setup as me and my driveshaft hits the member
what are the dimensions on those tires nice ZJ btw
I have one just like yours. White 94 Limited. 3 1/2" lift with 32's. Don't think I'll go any farther right now. It goes where I want to go here in Arizona..
Do you got long arms on yours

no. good steering parts, stabilizer, and alignment does the trick

You put this on a completely stock ZJ? You left the 249 transfer case and axle?
Why can't I find part 1 of this build.....you should do a long arm conversion tons more flex hardly any bind on anything
DrHavok1 technically this is part 1, I never set out to make a build videos, it just happened
you need to do a long arm upgrade
hell the 33s dont fit now with the flex i got(and trust me, its plenty)

Hey what lift did you use I like this one.
Been about a Year now any changes or just the same and were any changes because they were necessary
Did you have to trim with the 33s? Do you have any issues running 33s on the the stock rim?
Legacy Loco slight trim to the inside of the front bumper will be necessary, but I’m getting a new metal bumper with a winch, so it should give it more room
Wow it would’ve been great if I could hear you because of the loud music
Is that driveshaft adjustable?
I live in the Bronx....our roads are worse than any trail paths any where.
33x10.5?
Are you going to put in the Iron Rock Offroad Hack N Tap SYE Kit; with some Adam's Driveshafts?
301steady not sure yet, still deciding
hey you said that you were going to state what you need other than what comes with the lift can you tell us what you needed
JustTOughLOvE yes, i was limited with the video to 15 min. I have changed my settings on my account so now I can upload longer videos. I will make another with that information
Thank you! i have a zj i am about to lift and there are not too many videos on it
Didja change pinion gears when ya swapped to the bigger tires 4:56?
Does that lift eat u joints?
RM Racing not that I’ve noticed so far.
Did u have to replace cv axle for a u joint axle?
Dustin Johnson no, at least not yet. I’m still deciding weather to build up the Dana 30 or not.
mathew spurgeon ok
