He certainly looked like what people think Superman should look like but the fact is that without resistance training Superman wouldn't have large muscles and since his strength was natural there were few things he would be able to lift in order to develop them. I just watched a video of Jimmy Dean singing Big John using images from Clint Walker movies. He didn’t even have a shirt on in some of them. Check it out.
I saw this clip about 10 years ago, and I had the same thought about him playing Superman. It reminded me of how Clark Kent is from the country. Clint could have used his natural accent for Clark, then change it for Superman.
Clint Walker is a gentle soul, very kind and gracious, soft-spoken, and respectful and gave awesome hugs. A gentle giant in stature and as a human being.
You knew there was something funny with the mismatched heights, but the chemistry between these two is magical! Benny was always a great fall guy, and Walker's comic timing is impeccable. They don't make actors like these any more!
I talked to Mr. Walker one day on the cell phone. My brother saw him on the street in northern California, and called me in Boston. Well I was pleasingly surprised because Clint was my favorite western actor. He gave Clint the phone and we talked for a few minutes. One of the highlights of my life,. He was a perfect gentleman, as you would probably expect.
"The strapping Hollywood hunk was first pronounced dead in May 1971, after four inches of a ski pole pierced his heart in a gruesome accident at Mammoth Mountain in California." While following the contours of the twisting, irregular terrain Walker began tumbling out of control before coming to an abrupt, violent stop in which he was pierced through the heart with a ski pole. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. However, a doctor detected faint signs of life and rushed Walker to surgery, where his damaged heart was repaired. Within two months, Walker was working again.[19][20] Walker has said about the accident that he had a near-death experience. He ultimately died in 2018.
@@jtzutube The way I heard it, is that he was pronounced dead and they moved his body to the hall way to take him to the morgue. A well renowned heart surgeon happened to be walking down the hallway . I guess for some reason he saw something that made him suspicious and checked Clint and heard a very faint heart beat. They then rushed him to surgery and saved his life.
My dear late dad and Clint Walker were buddies. I used to play with Clint's daughter when we were little kids in the 1950s. Many years later my dad and I had Clint Eastwood as a client. From one famous Clint to another.
RE: Clint's comic ability: In the movie "Send Me No Flowers," starring Doris Day, Rock Hudson and Tony Randall, there is a great sight gag of Clint getting out of a tiny Jaguar sports car; he extricates himself with great difficulty and when he finally stands next to the car, the car only comes up to his knees. How many of you remember that scene?
Yes! I have the movie!, Rock was 6'4" or 6'5" & 225pds, Clint dwarfed him at 6'6 1/2" & 255pds, man he was HUGE! Then the car scene like you mentioned, lol, like how did he do it?!
Clint broke the mould... Not only bloody handsome, tall, built like a greek God, but also well spoken, intelligent, and a voice that would put Burton to shame... They dont make em like that anymore...
Clint absolutely never took his fans for granted. He learned very quickly, to his credit, that the fans are the driving force for ALL entertainment. He also had a work ethic that would bring a lot of today’s actors to their knees.
I love Jack Benny he was comedy genius and Clint Walker was not only a good actor but a real man. I love to see him in many movies, but I loved him in Cheyenne. Thanks for the episode.
The blue eyes bit. How many people remember how people remember how vain Jack made out to be about his blue eyes. I roared. I really miss Jack Benny. And the tall guy is good too.
This is a joy to watch because it is pure and wholesome entertainment that the whole family can enjoy. (And may I add, Clint Walker was - and still is - the most gorgeous man!)
My father worked with him in construction in California for a short time. My dad was more muscular than Clint but Clint was alot taller than my dad. Clint 6'6" my dad 6'2". Clint told my dad he had been asked to try out for acting and asked my father to come with him but my dad didnt believe him. So he didnt go. Clint got a roll and my dad missed an opportunity to maybe be an actor. Clint called my dad stainless steel because my dad was also a martial artist and he would punch these rotating roof vents and they would spin around like tops. Everytime I see Clint on TV it makes me wonder what it would have been like to have an actor father. Love Clint in Dirty Dozen. Favorite move with him in it. Clint seems to be a kind soft hearted gentle giant.
Met Mr. Walker when I was 4 in 55 I think it was at an amusement park just outside DC I'll never forget how Huge he was, My parents had to coerce me to walk up and shake hands with him. I just remembered him being enormous and the rawhide jacket. He was the first celebrity I'd met.
I'll never understand why Clint did not make it to the same level as John Wayne or Eastwood. He was ever bit as charismatic, entertaining, and talented. And yes, it could easily be argued even more so.
That’s one of funniest things I’ve ever seen! Especially the part where Jack jumps up to look at Clint’s blue eyes! He has a great sense of humor, too! Clint just goes with it however it goes and just kills it. Too funny!
I still love watching Clint Walker in "Night of the Grizzly." Mom and I never missed that movie when I was around 4 or 5 years old...I was never so frightened of a big bear...but Mr. Walker had it covered...
God was he big. And built too. What a physique. He would make even John Wayne and Clint Eastwood look small by comparison. Amazing specimen of a man for sure.

And in addition to his comic timing - which is really impressive - look at Clint's body language: the way he shifts his weight from foot to foot just before or just after he delivers a punchline and in between humorous exchanges. He's really enjoying this. 😊
Clint is on a very short list of actors who I think would have made the PERFECT Superman...his height/size (broad, but not bodybuilder muscles), his deep voice...he would have been amazing. Might have needed a little help with his accent (a little too 'cowboy') but still, he would have been amazing. A mountain of a man, and he seemed as decent and genuine as a person can be.
