Just installed this. It works perfectly. Also, the magic keyboard on my iPad operates the screen perfectly. for $7.99, this is remarkably simple and inexpensive way to make the iPad the primary (only) display for the Mini when you need it.

I do a bit of DJing and I am looking at upgrading my laptop or....... should I get a Mac Mini and Ipad Pro and YAM. , I want the Mac Mini to be under my table with an Ipad pro as my display. The Mac mini will be connected to my dj contoller. Can you imagine any issues with the communication between Mac Mini and Dj controller while running YAM ? I could just use a laptop but I see this as getting 2 devices for the price of 1

Great question, I never noticed this, mostly I use bluetooth headphone and also m2 mac mini has its own speaker. But the sad news is, you can't use ipad speaker. I checked it after your question. But I think you will not miss it.

You can go back to ipad mode with just a one tap on ipad and back to mac mode with again a single tap. Super simple. You can even copy data from mac to ipad by going back and forth. 👍

Gaming on ipad screen will be difficult. But there is no such latency. I don't game so for me this setup works super smooth. There is no such lag. 👍👍
I appreciate this video; I eventually got Yam display to work for this purpose and it cost only $8.00. I could not figure out how to get the Mac to bypass the user name during login, and therefore had trouble doing the login blind…. I elected to enable auto-login, but would like to get password login back if I ever figure it out.

Maybe Duet can work, but I think it's not free.
Was looking for an answer the same question, also if I can run a software called storyboard pro ( from toonboom) on this set up. This software is sopposed to work fine on an iMac , so I assumed it might be a super good deal to just use the Mac mini m2 with my iPad Pro .., just want to be sure it all lines up , which includes the ability to draw directly on the iPad screen with an Apple Pencil lol,

My Mac Mini only has USB 2.0 input. Can it connect to an iPad Pro?
I have a late 2009 iMac I’d like to use as the display. Any thoughts? I attempted to install Linux on the iMac but it ran even worse then with the Mac OS so I never bothered to revert it back.
If you can install Yam display in your iMac, you can then connect a mac mini with it and use it as an external display. Just go to yam display website and see the version of mac Os that it supports. Hope this helps. Have a nice day.

I watched the video, it is in Chinese 😂, I think. And I think he is using luna display and sidecar to achieve what I did. Luna display will cost you some money. After all the research I found that Yam display is the best. You can also connect ipad wirelessly to mac mini using Yam. I am thinking of creating that video too. Have a nice day 👍👍

Yes u can absolutely use your ipad pro as an external monitor for mac mini. I am using my 9th gen ipad and works smoothly. And coding won't be a problem at all.

Yes, there is a macbook air with same chip, but double the cost. And also the MacBook air does not have a fan, which can result in thermal throttling for long video editing process. And if you go with MacBook pro with same chip, it will cost even more.

Why will this setup require a power supply? Is it because the Mac Mini needs to be carried as a portable device to be connected to the iPad as a monitor? Isn't there another remote method without having to take the Mac Mini with you?
Thats not possible ... its the hardware in mac mini which is achieving that... not the connection either a port or wireless connection is the range only emphasize the mac mini you just cant leave it at home n be connected you'll hv to carry it....

Brother, go to apple app store in ipad and search for Yam display. Check the icon that I have shown in my video, most probably the first app that comes up after search. Download that one. Have a nice day 👍👍

No, I have tried it, but it doesn't work. The ipad just acts as an external monitor using this software. 👍
Why can't apple give mac mini a battery?
It's so sad, ridiculous and ironic that you have one portable device already, ipad, it's has very capable hardware, it has m1 chip in it if it's new one. But you carry anoıther m1 or m2 device, mac mini, to get work done, because of crap os of ipad.
