Looking down when I swallow liquids is a game changer! I had to laugh though because when I was in rehab, visitors would often ask me a question right after I took a bite of food and I had to tell them that chewing and talking had become difficult.
My brother had a stroke 7 years ago... He had problems swallowing, but now it got worst... He can’t barely eat now, I guess we will need therapy, that’s what I tough you was gonna talk about and give some examples... But still, this is very interesting... GBU
VitalStim is the therapy and it works. I had it 10 years ago when I had severe dysphagia after a stroke. It meant I could have my PEG (feeding tube) removed after a year. It's hard work - as well as using electrodes a few times a week, you have to practise extensive tongue/jaw exercises every day and it takes some time (3 months for me) to get to a good place again. Unfortunately, I've recently had a set-back (mini stroke?) and may have to start all over again, but I'd highly recommend this therapy and see no reason why the effects shouldn't last if you stay well. Good luck and I hope your brother recovers whatever you decide to do.
Hey Candy! How's your brother now? My dad is with peg tube and hospital only do vitalstem for like once a week but due to covid we wait for months for them to open too
@@AnnyTheMs hello, may I ask how your father's recovery has been? My mother is currently in the stroke ward and there are no visits allowed so everything is very confusing right now
You took me right back to my own therapy for regaining my voice! Thank you!
Could you please describe the procedure of electrotherapy. Is that only tens or something more?
