The Holtkamp Organ at Saint John's Abbey and University is undergoing some needed renovation that will make this musical instrument a unique treasure for generations to come.
The Holtkamp is being preserved in its exact original state. The Pasi material is conceived as a series of additions that can coexist well with the existing Holtkamp instrument. The additions are all concentrated on two manual divisions and some new Pedal voices. With these new additions, the organ now has 112 ranks and over 6,000 pipes. The manual order goes like this: I: Pasi Grand Great and Holtkamp Positiv II: Holtkamp Great III: Pasi Grand Swell IV: Holtkamp Swell Here's the link to the stoplist: pipeorgandatabase.org/stoplist/22081
For the most part, the Holtkamp divisions are untouched. With a few exceptions, Pasi added complementary divisions to address the issues created with the Vatican II liturgy.
Is the concept of the Holtkamp masterpiece going to be preserved or is it going to become a Pasi organ?
