As Darnold gets closer to three seconds in the pocket, he panics as his internal clock races. He seems to get tunnel vision and shuts down mentally. Darnold is at his best when he throws on time to his first or second read. After that it becomes a crap show. Darnold is who he is. Panics under pressure and turns over the ball way too frequently. None of this is completely correctable but the Vikings have done a far better job than previous teams to at least have structures in place to mitigate Darnold’s significant weakenesses.
Darnold too long with the ball is one of several KOC fixes I expected earlier. KOC needs to plot high probability routes underneath with the many weapons they have, Sam needs to get those reps in practice and shave his read time down. Again, I concur he holds too long/his reads are notably slower than Kirk’s were.
I really think he let his early season play go to is head somewhat and thinks he should be still playing at that level instead of taking what's given to him........just trying to make to much happen at once.
I said it before, we just need to wear the Bud jerseys. Man went for four touchdowns zero turnovers against Houston in our most dominant win all year in the throwbacks
I'm not sure why they hardly ever run slants or other quick passes. Also, our screen and draw plays mostly suck. They shouldn't be afraid of the low-hanging fruit.
Its a double negative now that teams are playing 2 deep safeties against us. Sam wants the deep read but it's covered, by then the rest of the routes are dead on scramble drills

He needs to throw to his outlets. Cam and Jones are great receivers. He’s taking too long. Go short
You can put Zach Wilson on this Vikings team and he'll give you the same result. That's how good the Vikings are. We need a real QB.
