That track Swingmatism has some phrases in that turn up in Goodman/Sauter's Clarinet A La King. As well as the overall feel. Never heard that track before, I'm guessing Sauter did!

It's most useful if you first try to transcribe the solos yourself, and then check your work. Bird may not be the first choice for someone just starting to transcribe, but but music has to be ingested by ear, not by eye. He actually kicked heroin several times but always relapsed with a year. When his daughter died it pretty much destroyed him and he was dead a year later
