The film Factory was in the shoppers space back in the 70's and early 80's. My oldest sister Jackie worked there from opening to its closing up. You bring in your camera film and then from outside the window, see the film being processed from reel to reel. Had a dark room, a photo room. It was one of the neatest things to see when you were a kid. Then turn around and go through the door into Roby's Diner, which is the Lotto kiosk now. Around 1/3 of the bargain shop, was Roby's diner.
West Arthur Place was often referred to as the Spence Clinic. It's really just a hallway connected to the elevators you used to get to the various doctor offices and then maybe grab a quick bite to eat at the tiny greasy spoon inside. So, often you only went there as directed by your doctor.
Keskus was a real gem. Too bad you didn't get to see it. You can watch the locally produced Keskus mall TV commercial from 1992 on TH-cam. Grandview had this great little pet store at one point. Thunder Bay Mall had an awesome arcade. Northwood Park Plaza was once home to "Carol's Cakes." I can't believe Woking Bird is still open!
The great thing is that these malls were walkable to without crossing stroads, boast transit access, had good local restaurants and retailers in the facility alongside ff chainfare. I never new that vestigial mall was the last existing part of keskus, was in fact it's own thing. It had a fabric land and also a dollarama in the sublevel.
Nice video, mate! A nice depiction of my hometown. If you’re making something like that again soon in Thunder Bay, try considering County Park Plaza and Victoriaville. Though Victoriaville will be gone by the end of this year or next, so it really doesn’t matter. I look forward to Intercity (our big mall)! Nice work!
Thank you very much! My two previous videos were about County Fair and Victoriaville. Those were my two reasons to visit Thunder Bay, but while there I just had to film more!
Nice little tours. I hate it when cozy old mini-malls get "de-malled". :( I've occasionally wondered if I'll need to retire in Thunder Bay to experience real winters like we used to have in the Twin Cities.
Thank you! I'll talk about this in an upcoming video, but my last day in Canada I woke up to 30F weather with light snow. As I drove home my car got hotter and hotter. I was shocked to get out of my car in Forest Lake at 9pm to experience 83F weather!
In Thunder Bay, I would say Victoriaville was the most unique. I wish I could go back and hang out there more before demolition and maybe get lunch, too. However, I loved the underground malls in Montreal the most. Unfortunately, I was there for vacation and didn't film it.

Interesting take on my home town malls!

Canadian hallway malls are the new frontier! 😂😂😂
They film the best and I film the rest!
One of the things about our small malls, is that at the start it was Mom & pop owned type restaurants.

I enjoyed the video. Keep up the great work. :)
This is definitely going to be a good video! :)

Yes. I saw it in my recommendations this morning. Eager to watch.
Good work!
Each of our former malls had character and stores that made it worthwhile to go to. Now you just see slow death.

What a happening place !
I love that all our malls have been reduced to Walmart, dollarama and Nofrills🥴
Given the number of malls you visited. What’s your favourite mall in Canada?

Hehe... Smalls, small malls, I call them smalls
