- Merry Christmas to everyone! This is a symphonic heavy metal version (cover) of "Carol Of The Bells".
Originaly, the name of the song was "Shchedryk" (from Ukrainian: Щедрий вечiр, "Bountiful Evening"). "Shchedryk" was a Ukrainian New Year's carol. It was arranged by composer Mykola Leontovych in 1904, and tells a story of a swallow flying into a household to sing of wealth that will come with the following spring. "Shchedryk" was later adapted as an English Christmas carol, "Carol of the Bells", by Peter J. Wilhousky, who changed the lyrics ( (which were not based on the Ukrainian lyrics).

It was _almost_ perfect! I was just imagining Amy Lee singing with these guys which is why I say "almost"!
The orchestral element is what really makes this tick compared to something like ABR's version. People keep forgetting that this song by its very nature REQUIRES an orchestral element.

I'm more a fantasy music kind of guy but listening to this, this is like my two favorite worlds just collided to one. The violin/bag pipes almost Celtic touch inbetween there, that's how I feel somewhat a WITCH of the fantasy realm and then here comes Heavy Metal that is just breath taking and I love it!
