Awesome home theater. After watching this video I'm curious to learn more about Meridian speakers. Also the Trinnov and Kelidiecape are both in my "one-day" bucket list.
Meridian has been around a long time, they were the first digital speaker system for the home. I think for home theaters, they are great, for 2 channel audio? I'm not as convinced. I've own their older DSP5000's and while they sound great, I think they lack a certain something when compared to a good non-digital speaker. I don't particularly care for DSP to fix problems as it tends to sound just a little "processed". For Home Theater, it's not as critical because most of the soundtracks for movies are dialog and special effects, and we're not really doing critical listening to music. I haven't heard their latest products, so I can say they've improved to overcome the negative effects of DSP processing. They do save a lot of space for cables and extra amps, etc. Literally, you can just plug in a source and nothing else and you don't have to deal with analog speaker cables, so there are some pluses of having DSP controlled speakers.
Not quite you can still watch them via KScape (once you verify you own them, not sure how that works) or on your own player. But my understanding is if you want to watch them via KScape, there may be a charge if you want to get a higher resolution version such as you own a dvd but want a 4k version. I think that’s how it works but don’t quote me because I don’t own a KScape system.
Back in time, Meridian was everywhere in the press etc, then they kinds disappeared, When I use to attend the Bristol Hifi show around Feb time, they were the first room I would go visit, (right at the bottom of the hotel) hear the best first, then go from there. :)
The problem with his system isn't the gear as much as it's the room. No absorption to cut down reflections and nothing I can see with regards to low frequency absorption and I'm sure the walls don't have low frequency absorption in them either. So, his room is going to have a lot of reflection and low frequency issues, that DSP simply can't get rid of. DSP room correction sucks, especially with small rooms because they simply sound too processed. The other issue is with the center channel. Sideways speakers have a different dispersion pattern than the 2 RL mains. So, you aren't going to have a consistent front sound field. I would always recommend using the exact same speakers for the front. Also, I've heard one Home Theater where they split the center dialog speaker with a pair of RL speakers that were the same as the other RL speakers and the sound field was insane. The other issue is that those speakers might be overkill for the size of his room. you have to match them carefully as putting too much energy in a room causes more room issues. Small rooms can only handle so much energy before you overload the room itself. he should also bring the speakers out from away from the front wall.
Wow! All that cash and all that flash with ZERO Acoustic Treatments? Interesting, don't let Acoustic Fields find out! For my (imaginary) "Big Dollar Build"; I would choose JVC -XYZ123 PJ, Trinnov, some nice amps and Wisdom Audio line source speakers. Then hire professionals to figure out the rest. Maybe they'll let me choose the colours? Oh and Monoprice audio cables LOL.
Enough with the "better audio" on Kaleidescape bs ! The audio comparing to the phisical disk is the same unless it is a different mix. Audio is lossles and identical to the studio master since BlueRay was invented.
Own a kaleidescape strato S and can attest that the pic and sound on it is better and has better fidelity in the audio when compared to discs. I have repurchased movies i own on 4k disc on the Kaleidescape and there is an improvement in pic and audio. My wife who even notices the differences. Some movies i notice these differences are Joker, the revenant, The shape of water to name a few, Alita. I believe these differences are attributed to the fact that kaleidescape is not contrained to download size like disc. I own moves that are over 100gb. Discs are limited to either 50gb or 100gb which not only includes the movie but also The extras and to make all of this fit on disc the studio has to apply more compression and truncate which effects the ed result. This is not an issue for Kaleidescape, Less compression results in better pic and better fidelity. Love the Meridian setup by the way.
Hey, listen, you guys need to start playing these systems so people can hear them. Talking about them without folks getting to hear them is like a woman dressed really sexy for a date and ending the date with no sex. You guys need to stop doing this. Get a good microphone and a camera and play some movies or/and some music on these systems...I mean what's the point.
When one has high-end stereo speakers like this who the hell needs home theatre. Exquisite
😁
Awesome video Bruce is amazing dealer and you are amazing TH-camr

Thanks for sharing!
Very impressive. The ultimate home theater in my opinion.
👍🏾
Bro this is unreal. Endendgame for this one.
It was unreal. 😁
Bruce has helped me in the past with my Meridian gear. Highly recommended.
Thanks for sharing!
Wow. End game set up. I’ll bet it sounds phenomenal.
Definitely Endgame!
did i hear right that Kaleiscape charges you to use the DVD/BR's you already own?
Not quite you can still watch them via KScape (once you verify you own them, not sure how that works) or on your own player. Nice! I didn’t know they did so many shows. 😁
looks like a real nice minimalist (obviously not but its well hidden) looking system.👍🤘
I made the Cash Money Brothers joke 2 seconds before he said it. Then it threw me off when he said it out loud!!
😂😂😂😂
very cool. cheers
Thanks!
Excellent video, as usual! Keep up the great work.
Was he running all speakers full range, with the sub on LFE?
Yes, I believe everything was running full range. It’s was nuts!!
Great video! Props to Cash Money Brothers.
😂😂😂
Well I guess when it’s your theater you can do what you want.
This is insane. Thank you.
Yes, it is!

Should have mounted a bigger screen. Also, picturewize the white reflective color on the speakers are not a good choice in a cinema...
from acoustics, I would rather choose something from Alcons audio or Meyer sound

Oh and Monoprice audio cables LOL.
I’m stuck on the 23000 albums and 3000 movies. That is well over $100-200k worth of media content!

I wonder if they pump up the volume
Yep a lot of marketing bs from TH-camrs about it too

The screen looks linda small though
