Awesome review guys! I'll be checking you guys out some more. Glad you liked the album, Lightning Bolt will always be my favorite but Dark Matter definitely kicked ass.
Went to a listening party yesterday. Thought the album was really good. Definitely more rocking than Gigaton. Heard some Tom Petty/Americana influence in a couple tracks. Good melodies. Some ripping guitar solos. I put in my preorder 4 songs in.
It seems like some singers are able to adapt and change the way they sing to protect their voice. Brian in AC/DC has sounded GREAT on the last 2 albums because he changed his vocal approach. I'm guessing Ed has done something similar
I love the album but Eddie's Vocals do sound like an old man struggling at times on this album and Gigaton as well. His wise, deep mature vocals were the best in Lightning Bolt. At that time, one could've said his vocals just keep getting better but now, he's clearly struggling in some sections. His mature vocals peaked in Lightning Bolt His screaming vocals were obviously the best in Ten The best balance of screaming and mature vocals were found in the self titled album. Songs like marker in the sand come to mind.
@@thekbmusicden5033 They were good cuz he's a great singer but it did seem like he's straining a bit in certain sections. That heppens in Gigaton too. He's getting old, it's okay, but we can't really keep saying his voice has aged well every single album. He voice did have this level of depth during Lightning Bolt days and he didn't strain them either so it flowed naturally in the delivery of every single lyric. Hes still great though, no doubt.
Wreckage was very good. I think we were enjoy a lot of the uptempo stuff. But I think Wreckage may be the song that’ll be most memorable on the album. It’s definitely a fantastic track.
@@thekbmusicden5033 I see. Yea I just listened to a snippet of it. I was not super impressed but maybe I like it when I hear the full song. Waiting for Stevie is being praised in some other reviews as the best in the album and in a long time…counting the hours…
Great review guys. I enjoyed it a lot. One thing i can't agree with is voice of Eddie. He is nowhere near what he was when he was younger. I think that their songwriting abilities on all new albums are as good as any of their masterpieces, songs does not sound anywhere close to what it was because of his vocals. He is getting older and it shows. He is still great singer with still a good technique and strong voice, but not even close to what a powerhouse he was until 2000 or so. Just my opinion. Take care
Sequencing has been an issue the last three records or so.. happy to hear that it’s better 🤙🏼
Yeah I think the sequencing really was perfect here.
I agree. Sequencing is good. I like the short little musical interludes. Really helped the flow.

Thank you!
Man this makes me so mad I couldn't go to the listening party here but so much more excited Friday! Thanks for doing this
You’ll be happy with the album!
As a huge fan who only felt let down by Lightning Bolt, I can’t tell you how stoked I am for Friday!
Your gonna be very happy with this one.

Haha love it. The preorder 4 songs in made laugh. :). But fully agree. This album is worth the pre order.
I wanted to go to the theatre to see it in the uk but was stuck working in a restaurant the whole day 😭

I’m headed to hear it at the local AMC at 8pm (Arcadia, CA)
Would have loved to do that too. Gonna sound great in there.
Just heard the entire album today at the movie theater and it was a banger from start to finish. Their best since the avocado album imo.
Fully agree.
Very fortunate that Eddie's voice has aged well
His voice is just as strong as ever.
The album is absolutely awful..
Is he still smoking? His voice has aged soooo well!
I think Watt pushed Eddie to dig deep and find that range from earlier in his career. Great to hear it!
For me best songs by far are Won't tell, Waiting for Stevie then Wreckage, setting sun
Waiting for Stevie is so good.

I don’t know. I thought they are really strong.

you guys have me really excited. Long time fan here but I haven't cared for anything after Avocado.
I think you’ll enjoy this one.
Andrew Watt!
That’s it!!! Damn I forgot.
I'm going to cinema to hear it now 😊
Enjoy! It’s fantastic
@@thekbmusicden5033 yep, just on train home, really enjoyed!
Most reviews I read picked Wreckage as the best song of the album. Would you agree with that? You guys didn’t seem too excited about that one.

Who’s the “Stevie”? I heard it’s about Stevie Nicks.. I thought maybe it was about Stevie Ray Vaughn or Stevie Wonder..
Wreckage is the best song they've done since Vitalogy.

DANG THIS ANTICIPATION
It’s worth it
