    I just made a Biker Gnome. I gave it to my husband yesterday for his birthday.
    He loved it. Its a lot smaller than yours. Its about 3" tall. I put him on a river rock. We have a few plastic motorcycles from a mobile. I am going to fix them and put one on a river rock next to the biker. Now my husband wants me to make one riding one of the other bikes. Lol.

    I love your little gnomies! I am desperately putting together kits for my studio and love the paper cone idea! Do you take that out before you fire? I am going to suggest this for my To Go kits...I’m inspired by your video.

      Hi Ruby! Thank you for watching. I'm glad you like them.
      Yes, I take the cone out before firing. But, if for some reason they get stuck because of the way the clay is formed, I have left them in during firing. They will burn away. But it's not an ideal situation.

    They are soooooo cute I want to have a go when I'm finished other projects and get my craft area made up I wish one of my talents was shelf building lol. Thankyou for showing us your lil guys is it air dry clay and can you put them in the garden? X

    • @TheBeesKneesPottery
      @TheBeesKneesPottery  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! They are addicting. Remember to be a little more careful with your air dried clay. It will be more fragile and must be sealed to be outside. Go for it!

    Do you grill the piece you made? How do you do that if you do not have a special oven for barbecue, and what do you recommend for that and for coloring?

    • @TheBeesKneesPottery
      @TheBeesKneesPottery  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! We are using clay that does need a kiln to fire it to turn it into ceramic. There may be a ceramic studio near you to get supplies and firing. We use glazes to paint the pieces. It makes a lovely glass like appearance. If you do not have a studio near you, maybe you could find air drying clay and acrylic paints at a local craft store. It would look a bit different, but you use the same techniques used in this video. Best of Luck- glad you enjoyed the video.

    Brand new to this and love your gnomes...I notice that you used a paper cone. Do you remove it before firing? Sorry if it's silly question.

    • @TheBeesKneesPottery
      @TheBeesKneesPottery  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I do take the cones out. Sometimes they get stuck and instead of ruining the gnome, I leave them in and the cone will just burn away..

    What kind of glaze are you using, please? Stroke and Coat? Interesting to paint while damp and unfired. Thanks. Suzanne

    • @TheBeesKneesPottery
      @TheBeesKneesPottery  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Suzanne The Stroke n Coats are Mayco glazes. It's important to leave a bare area- like we did on the inside of the gnome- to get a better finish. It also allows an escape area for any moisture or gasses that need to escape when firing.

    • @TheBeesKneesPottery
      @TheBeesKneesPottery  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi JoJo's Mum! You can use air dry clay if you paint and seal it, but it will be more fragile. As with all clay, be sure to bring it in during freezing temperatures. Hope you have fun making all your gnome buddies.

      We're Sorry you don't recognize the reasons we use the disposable workspace shown here and provided in the To-go Kits we sell from our studio. The simple, low cost, useful materials found in our kits help introduce many people to the art of clay hand building in the comfort of their homes. Of course, the use of these materials is optional.
