Your statement is a lie on its face. OEM like that... it not Lego so it going end up cost more... that why you go with one version for one lot.. not.. try to rework a 10 years old plane.. yeah this thing is 10 years old already and still can not fly as well as 15 years old plane... that do better dog fight... it down to the desgin... not software...

@Apple Tek Support It MIGHT be successful if they can ever do what they set out to accomplish. Then it would cost less per plane to build, but we would have to build several thousand of them to average the price per plane down where it makes sense. But face it, by the time they do that it will already be time for the next generation fighter to be built as they took too long. And if they learn from their mistakes they'll go back to building the exact plane a military division needs instead of one plane doing it all. That's like making one pizza everyone in the country can agree is the best. Never happen until they invent new ingredients, and even then......

Just a quick correction. The B variant is STOVL; short take off, vertical landing. For all intents and purposes a B variant mission ready can't take off vertically due to it's fully loaded weight. Once it comes back from a mission with less fuel and expended munitions it can land vertically. For the short take off the exhaust nozzle still points in a downward position and utilizes a ramp with no need for a catapult.

    1) It was not a “joint” Boeing/Lockheed effort that became the F35.
    2) Boeing X32 and Lockheed x35 competed against one another.
    3) Every generation of aircraft will always be more expensive than the aircraft it replaces.
    4) This aircraft, although expensive, is meant to perform tasks that used to require several aircraft. During Desert Storm you needed cruise missiles to knock out communications, F4 wild weasels to knock out SAM sites, EF 111 to Jam radar, A10’s and F16’s to take out ground targets , F15’s to provide air cover and AWACS to make sure they didn’t collide with each other. It’s much cheaper if one type of aircraft can perform Air to Air, Air to Ground, Jam, collect intel etc etc...
    5) The more of these sold the cheaper they become
    6) The next step in military aviation will be drones

Every assertion in this video is incorrect so far, and I’m only at 3:06. The program goes back to 1983, and was joint UK/USMC/USAF for the SSF/ASTOVL way before JAST or JSF. The silly mission profile they represented in the beginning? Yeah, Israel started doing strikes with F-35s into Syria in 2017, USMC in 2018, and USAF in 2019 and nobody stopped. Video post date is Oct 2020. Numerous articles from USMC, USAF, and Israeli news document this in detail, to include availability rates, numbers of bombs dropped, sorties flown, different mission sets accomplished in single sorties, how USMC F-35Bs working off an LHD in the Red Sea covered targets from Syria to Afghanistan, and how once the UAE saw what the F-35 is capable of, were willing to make a peace deal with Israel so they could be cleared to buy F-35As as well. The future referred to in this video is years old already, with far more complex mission sets, threats, and responses.

Funny thing is it actually is extremely cost effective and is currently the most affordable fighter in the world.
For example, "cheap" Chinese Chengdu J-10A fighters cost $58.88 million each.
16 of them have crashed so far with 6 pilots killed, numerous homes burned on the ground. At least 1/3 of those crashes are from engine failure. Another 1/3 from unknown technical failure.
103 Flankers have crashed with 136 fatalities.
Just in the first 10 years of F-16 service, we lost 143 of them with 71 fatalities.
720+ JSF built and 15 years later...2 Bs and 2 As have crashed, only 1 B model from mechanical failure.
A model unit price is lower than any Western fighter at $77.9 million.

Typhoon unit flyaway is 146-152m Euros last I checked on the most recent contracts. Unit Program is well over 200m Euros per.
There's a difference between unit flyaway and unit program cost.
F-35A is more affordable than any of them in both categories. Unit program cost is air vehicle + weapons, spares, support, suspension equipment, simulators, practice training weapons, etc.

F35 is a multi-role aircraft, capable of CAS, ground strikes, and CAP. Furthermore, and I'm surprised people haven't twigged to it yet, it can also be a mobile drone-tender, and can accept and relay information from drones in the area, giving it off-bore targeting so it doesn't have to light up its own radar array to achieve lock-on. The F22 is a strict CAP and A2/AD dogfighter role, capable of shooting down anything that shares the skies with it. In terms of combat against other aircraft, the F22 is still superior to the F35, but isn't as capable of providing CAS or having as much payload for ground strikes. They both have valid uses.
The su57 was obsolete before it ever got planned. The more money Russia wastes on them, the better for everyone else.

The F 35 DOES NOT cost 158 M. Why would the commentator say that when in the video he states the cost of A version is $78M, B version is $101M , C version is $94M. Where they obtained the info that the tech have to spend 4 hours every two days to check fit of helmet is complete nonsense. Helmets are same for ALL pilots. Each pilot is measured and supplied with their own INSERT. Rumors that defense companies have sabotaged planes is absurd. Those so called 883 errors, called design flaws in video, all but 13 were Software related issues and had nothing to due with F35 flying capabilities. These issues were from GAO, a committee in congress to check the costs of government programs, and are NOT associated with the military. Other wise a bunch of bean counters. Commentator said new issues are found every day while flying the aircraft is an exaggeration and to magnify beyond the limits of truth. Very few, if any, new issue have be have been found recently. It should be noted that all three versions are now "Combat Capable" March 1st, 2019 "With Thursday's IOC declaration, which follows decades of testing and development, the Navy has joined the Marine Corps and Air Force, both of which have already declared their F-35 variants combat-ready."
That 1.1 Trillion Dollars is for the LIFE of the program out to year 2070. The actual cost maybe less as the drop in cost of aircraft and production from that 2001 estimation.
