  • Hello beautiful people! I hope you have had a great week! In this video we will be changing the oil on a 2010 Honda Fit. It is the second generation Honda Fit so this oil change works on any Fit from 2007 to 2014. There is one part of the video that I have to apologize now for which is that I did not get the right angle to show how to reset the oil light on these vehicles. However, if you follow the instructions you should be able to reset that light. Please let me know if you still have problems and I will do the best I can to upload a video with the illustration of how to do it.
    ALL THE MUSIC IN THIS VIDEO IS MADE BY ME ON MIXCRAFT 7.
    Do you enjoy video games? Enjoy some foolishness? Well check out my second channel and let me know what you all think if you're interested.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

    Be careful not to jack into oil pan, ramps work better

    • @alsauto2917

      Correct. Which is why I Jack my car up from side to side. There’s some vehicles, mostly trucks that have a steel frame like bar near the oil pan where you can Jack the front up. I appreciate your comment. You’re very correct about this

      @@alsauto2917 Could you slide some ramps under the tires once jacked and then use stands & lower it down so everything is supporting some weight? Some may say overkill but who cares if you can still get the work done?

    • @alsauto2917
      @alsauto2917  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have never done that personally but it sounds like a great idea! I don’t think anything can be considered “overkill” when it comes to safety. Ramps or Jack stands are good enough but no harm done having both to give extra protection.

    Nice job - I like your style of delivery (relaxed as opposed to these overly hyper approaches). Keep doing what you're doing.

    So engine has to be cold to check on transmission fluid?

    • @alsauto2917
      @alsauto2917  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Only on Hondas. Every other vehicle needs to be running to check the transmission.

    A set of ramps !!! ( much easier )

    • @alsauto2917
      @alsauto2917  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For minor things like an oil change yes, but depending how high you need the vehicle or if you’re doing brake work or suspension work or something like a tire rotation, not really, I’m used to using the jack and jack stands and like my vehicle high enough where I can easily crawl in and out from under it. Just my preference, thank you for your comment

    It’s called a spill mat. The black ones are for coolant, the white ones are for oils.

    Loved this video! Do you have to jack the car to drain the oil? I'm scared I'll do it wrong and it will land on my head 😅

    • @alsauto2917
      @alsauto2917  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, we need to Jack it up. Make sure to use jack stands, or you can use ramps to raise the car, I don’t normally use those though, just my preference. I know it can be scary but I believe in you. I’m sure you can find a detailed video to show you how to raise the car without hurting yourself somewhere on the internet. You got this 💪🏽

    Did you have a washer on the drain plug?
    Where did you buy the washer?

    • @alsauto2917
      @alsauto2917  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Chi H yes I did have a washer on the drain plug. I’m sorry if it was visible enough. I usually get my drain plug washers from advance auto parts. So any auto parts store should have them. Thank you for your question. Have an awesome week!

      What size is the washer? Thx

    • @alsauto2917
      @alsauto2917  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Chi H you have a good question, advance auto parts sells a package with various washers how ever I have never seen any sizes. To have an exact size for the washer you probably have to go to the dealer unfortunately. I’m sorry I couldn’t be more help. I’ll do some research and see if I can find anything. Thank you.

    My toyota goes from the top to near the bottom of the dipstick over 10k miles. Is that okay? It has done 107k miles.

    • @alsauto2917
      @alsauto2917  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How often do you get your oil changed? It sounds like you’re burning oil. But as long as as it’s in the middle of those two holes on your dipstick it shouldn’t hurt your engine but I’d still recommend you looking into why your car is burning oil.

    Where to put the Jack and Jack stand if you're lifting the car using the side point? The Jack would take room for the Jack stand.

    • @alsauto2917
      @alsauto2917  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What kind of vehicle do you have? Cars like Honda’s have what’s called “Unibody” which is basically the body and the frame combined, look a just next to the lift point underneath the car, there maybe what looks like a frame, from there, move the jack closer to the middle of the car just enough to fit the jack stand, and then start raising the car. I hope this helps, I will try my best to make a quick video of this when I get a chance and tag you if you’re interested.

    • @alsauto2917
      @alsauto2917  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No leak. If there’s a leak you would see oil around the gasket of the oil pan. Having black oil come out isn’t reason for alarm, it’s just dirty but it’s normal. Do be wary of sludge, it’s something different but if you’re doing your regular maintenance I would not worry about that.
