Hi, just a few comments on the oil change. first never bash the wrench if it is too tight use a lever on your wrench and use constant pressure. Second the motor must be warm NOT hot but warm this helps the old oil to flow better and last when you remove the drain plug lower the car and have a drain pan under for about 15min or some old oil will remain and mix with the new, when you put back the o-ring on the filter housing always wet it with a bit of new oil this will prevent the ring from damaging and never overtighten the plug or housing. I was working on mine today oil, filter, both front swing arms and the aux belt a full days work :)
How often do you guys change your oil? I just bought a 2006 Saab 9-3 Aero a few months ago (my first car!) and used this video to change the oil. I have 150,000 miles. How often do you guys recommend that I change it?
@@erickorlandodelatorre2133 every 5k miles. start at the nearest 5k interval (e.g. 155000) so its easy to keep track of oil changes (160000, 165000, etc...)
The car manual says the oil needs to be rated for GM dexos 1 (it has the older spec labeled in the manual but this is the latest equivalent), and the oil you used is not rated for GM dexos 1. Is it safe to use
I got a video idea for you, reacting to old saab adverts from 70s and forwards🤔 if you are interested I can link you some finnish ads that are on youtube and translate them, they are pretty amazing. It would be interesting if you talked more about classic saabs like 96, 99 and 900 on the channel, there are many intersting stories and models. Keep up the great work!!
Is there a reason why you haven't warned the car first?? Next time you would be best to go for a drive for a few minutes to warm it up and it flows better :) excellent channel and watched every video from day 1
Depends on what parts you're looking for. There's a few good tuning sites; I like Maptun. But vtuner, noobtune, nordin tuning, brew city boost, and many other options are available
I just replaced my oil filter with a New Napa gold ...DO I need to take it out when I do another oil change ? or will all the oil drain out the 13mm oil plug ? Thanks
I use Pirelli PZero, that was the original tires the car came with when it was sold, at least in Spain. Also (and at least here in Spain) you can put a bit wider tires, the specs say you can put 235, but I use 245/40 R19 and it passes MOT. Hope it was heplfull
3-5k miles would be my recommendation; there should be a service indicator in the car but i'd just go by date or mileage, shouldn't be hard to remember.
There is a way, without having to plug the tech2 in, or going to a dealer. Also this process depends on the manufacture year of the car, but nevertheless it’s done via the ignition key. Don’t remember well had to plug the key in, put it in on without turning the engine on and make some secuencia with the buttons. Search a bit in the internet and you’ll definitely find it, cheers!
@@AutoAutopsy just saying cause i used to add 0w30 in my older saabs, particulary a 2.0T cabrio used to spill that oil like at an alarming rate, but all of them had oil consumption isues. My actual TurboX DOES burn some oil with 200.133km on it, but maybe just 1L every 10,000km or less, doesn't bother me at all, i'm more concerned about transmission, timing and valve cover issues.
Hey, I own a 2008 SAAB 9-3 2.T and I wanted to change the radio to a Bluetooth touch screen radio. Is there any help you can give me with that just buying the kit and a fair price radio?
@Auto Autopsy hey there i would like to ask you something. cause i am from germany, i love our cars...well to be honest only Opel. sure VW and BMW have now and there some good cars, but i love Saab and Opel (yes Saab is swedish i know, after all i have a 900 S) but, what do you think of the old 1986 Opel Manta B? ever heard of the Car? its a german icon, like VW Käfer or the eastern VW Käfer, the Trabant 601. like the 900, i like the Manta B. looks good, has a funny personality in germany and its an older car (i dont like modern cars. look ugly and are not so reliable like older cars and yes i know older cars have issues too, but does any car on this planet is free of issues....besides saab cars ;)
@@AutoAutopsy ahh what a shame. look for them, they are incredible. the weight is perfectly balanced, the engine has a good and special position and its light (only one ton) The Engine is not that big (2l 4 pistons), but still this car is a hunter in corners

Hey thx for all your video they helped me a loot :) I’m writing because i need some help, i want to change the transmission fluid on my 2007 9-3 aero 2.8 v6 station wagon but can’t find any video or instructions... any suggestion? Thank you in advance ✌️
Hey all, just wanted to add that I did put some oil around the new o-ring.
Get the turbo X on Doug demuro
I second that
I have emailed him; he said when he's in AZ he'll let me know!

Yes, I always warm up my new oil before I pour it into the engine. It flows better through the funnel.
Thank you for sharing! Appreciate the tips Marco

There will always be some old olie mix with the new.. If the most of it is out its Oke
Nice no frills vid, no stupid music. Just helpful info. Thanks
Очень рад что нашел твоё видео. Наглядно и просто. Завтра буду сам менять. Очень хорошо что в ролике есть перевод на Русский.

Do you know if the 2009 2.8t oil pan will fit on a 2006 2.8t? I need a new one but figured it would fit since they have the same B284R engine
Yes it should! You can confirm the part numbers on www.esaabparts.com if you’re unsure
Auto Autopsy thanks so much!
Is there a reason why you haven't warned the car first?? Next time you would be best to go for a drive for a few minutes to warm it up and it flows better :) excellent channel and watched every video from day 1
Drive it for a few minutes before or after..? Don't want the oil to burn me when it comes out. I let it sit for an hour or two before starting
Do you use any oil additives? For ex.: metal surface friction reducing agent. :)
No
I'm super new to saabs and I'm getting a 2003 9-3 linear. What are the best places to get aftermarket parts? And what are the better tunes?

Let them see how to place the filter should klik in.. and how many miles you changes it.. mine about 10k/ Km
I do the filter every change and a change every 3-5k miles
Good work! Doing some extra oil changes will keep that timingchain going for a long time! ;-)
:)
do the newer saabs also want dexos2 GM oils?
Well yes. If you can use the oil that Auto Autopsy uses Mobil 1 0w40 i find it the best oil for SAAB i have always used it on my cars ;)
I just have always used Mobil 1. Other people use different oils/viscosities though. Just check before you put it in!
I just replaced my oil filter with a New Napa gold ...DO I need to take it out when I do another oil change ? or will all the oil drain out the 13mm oil plug ? Thanks
It should all drain out of the plug, but you'll probably still lose a bit out of the filter holder since it's also on the bottom of the motor
Is the car imorted from Sweden? I think about the swedish numberplates. The registrationnumberr do not longer exsists here in Sweden anymoore. 🤔
Nope; had the Swedish plate sent to me from a subscriber. It's only there for looks
What tires do you have?
It appears to be some kind of rubber
Alex Saab lmao

Does a 07 93 aero 2.8 v6 . Have a light or indicator of some sort to when to change engine oil. And if so or if not what would you recommend.
3-5k miles would be my recommendation; there should be a service indicator in the car but i'd just go by date or mileage, shouldn't be hard to remember.
How do you reset the maintenance schedule reminder?
Good question; should be in the settings menu somewhere
